ANGELS WAIVE
ON 14 PLAYERS
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19.—In the first shakeup ever engineered by the Los Angeles baseball club, announcement was made today that waivers had been asked for 14 players.
The list of players scheduled to leave Los Angeles includes seven pitchers, four outfielders and three infielders. There is to be a big shake-up in the pitching staff and oily "Doc" Crandall and Wallace are to retain their jobs.
Among those almost certain to go are Red Smith, Lindimore, Dixie Carroll and probably Jimmy McAuley, shortstop.

Now that the grid season is over, Coach Fitzmorris will start his chargers upon the basketball season in the same manner—without the least idea what material he has. There is not a letter man at school this year, and all players will be from last year's subs or those that the coach will whip into shape.
A layoff of a week will be granted before active practice is resumed.

END CONFERENCE
GRID SEASON SAT.
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 19.—Tepping the Pacific coast conference thru their victory Sunday over the Washington Huskies, Univ. of Calif., football players went a light workout today in preparation for their final tilt of the season against Stanford.
The game, marking dedication of California's new million dollar stadium, will be played Saturday at Berkeley.
Stanford handed Idaho its first defeat of the season Saturday but is not regarded as likely to upset California and the Bears are prepared to give their recent rivals a drubbing. The Cardinals, however, may spring the unexpected and show strength not revealed earlier in the season.
DOPE WRONG ON SYRACUSE, W. & J.
By DAVIS J. WALSH
(I. N. S. Sports Editor)
NEW YORK, Nov. 19.—Excuse in a few isolated instances, most of the calculations on Saturday football returns stood up. Yale Cornell, California, West Virginia, Illinois and Texas remaining in the undefeated form.
The dope went wrong on Syracuse and Washington & Jefferson however.
Syracuse, the only team in the country that had preserved goal line inviolate, was reckoned as an almost sure thing over Colgate, but the latter's cast prima donna finally decided play football and the result was catalytic defeat for the Orange W. and J. likewise looked like the best bet in the world over Pittsburgh, but the Presidentsi sppi Aggies, but Michigan had no resort to desperate measures pull out a victory over Wisconsin the winning touchdown being a matter of some dispute.
Yale's victory over Princeton was very convincing. Not only did the Balldog rollup 27 points but it did so without exposing its strategic hand or using all the scores, over St. Louis and Mississippi time Cornell, another of the east's unbeaten teams, was winning in a romp over Johns-Holkins and saving most of its strength for Pennsylvania. Two more of the leaders, West Virginia and Illinois, won by top-heat scores over St. Louis and Mississippi Aggie, but Michigan had to respond to desperate measures to pull off a victory over Wisconsin, the winning touchdown being a matter of some dispute.
At the same time the Brown defeat of Harvard only served

SIKI SHORT-ENDER
NEW YORK, Nov. 19. — Battling Siki was a short-ender in the betting today for his fight with Kid Norfolk at Madison Square Garden tomorrow night.
The former light-heavyweight champion, who astounded the world by knocking but Carpentier and later losing his title to Mike McTigne, has failed to impress the critics in his training for the Norfolk bout, the prevailing impression being that the American negro will have little trouble in gaining the decision.

GLENDALE GIVEN FIELD MEET 18-0
By Sargum Sprout
Anaheim nearly eliminated Glendale from the Triple A league race yesterday. The Glendale boys were so near complete exhaustion at the close of the field meet it is reckoned at least six weeks will be required for them to rest up, by the end of which time some other team will have the pennant nicely tucked away.
Anaheim is playing a henry game. They never scored once yesterday; thereby they conserved their strength for the later weeks of the season. Anaheim is to let the other teams run themselves down the first half, and she will be in a position to take every game in the last half.
Anyway, everybody got to view the wonderful new grandstand, wonderful that it is located back of third base instead of home plate. The building is a beautiful structure and would be a credit to any town if properly located. It was packed yesterday, and it was to be regretted that the game was not more interesting.
Salveson went in with a still arm and was allowed to remain six innings, while the Glendale swatsmiths did everything but knock the grandstand down. There were all kinds of hits from safe bunts to four-ply swata. Hughes went in in the seventh and got by with two runs being scored on his slants in the remaining three innings.
Salveson and Hughes were assisted in helping the visitors to a large score by no less than seven errors on the part of their teammates.
Old reliable Jack Pendleton developed poison in one of his hands, so young Makin sat in in his place. The youngster played a wonderful game in the field, but was credited with two bad throws. La-Plant sat in at third and had a very bad day of it, being charged with a couple of misplays and he allowed two or three plays to slip by that he could not be charged with.
Bush played his usual good legal notice

A large score by no less than seven errors on the part of their teammates.
Bush played his usual good game and got two of Anaheim's six hits. The real bright spot in Anaheim's playing was the work of Vic Ruddy in left field. Vic was the busy kid all afternoon. He had six putouts to his credit. One was a very sensational running catch off a long foul, which he pulled down with one hand. Between times Vic was busy retrieving home runs and knocking down singles, etc. He got one safe blow while at bat and made old Doc Crandall err on a roller to second.
Art Ramage was at first for the locals. Art got by without a bobble, but he left his big stick at home, and went hitless. Bus Calan let a ball slip through his fingers for an error and had much trouble in trying to hold the wide ones. He got a 2-ply swat.
Perry O'Brian and the lankey Babe, Herman hit homers for Glendale, but the batting star was old Doc Crandall. He hit for three bases first time up, two the second, singled the next two times, flew to deep center and was robbed of a safe blow his last time up when Makin made a great play on his scorcher through short.
The locals will have to perk up a bit if they expect to be in the running. The cold facts of yesterday's game follows, if you care to look them over:

LAST OF WALNUT CROP RECEIVED
The last of the walnuts in the Anaheim district, a small lot of Eurekas, were received Saturday by the Anaheim Walnut Growers, Argin and packing resumed. Packing will be finished Monday and the season closed. The first pool of the California Walnut Growers, Ass'n of which this is a member, will close on Nov. 20.
Approximate totals of shipments, according to Secretary-Manager Walter J. Ross, are: Eurekas, seven tons; No. 1 buddel, 20 carloads; No. 2 and the rest of the buds, approximately 10 carloads.
Ross calls attention to the fact that his first estimate came within two per cent of the final total of the district. Estimates of the crop as a whole both for Orangeco and the other producing counties have declined.
You'll regret it if you don't hear the Philharmonic.
PIPELINE DEFEAT MAY HALT U. S. AID
A new angle was brought into the controversy as to whether a pipe line shall be built having its outlet through Newport Beach, when Francis Cuttle of Riverside who, with C. C. Chapman of Pullerton, is to represent the county in Washington when a federal appropriation is sought, wired that defeat of the Simmons pipe line permit would seriously interfere with success in obtaining the aid. The referendum election takes place tomorrow in the beach city.
