QUEER MURDER CASE
SOLVED BY DOCTOR
HARVARD, Ili., Oct. 5.—Harvard's great murder mystery has been solved and the city has settled back to the peace from which the finding of a man's head in a local dump aroused it. Two boys playing in the dump made the ghastly discovery. Police were at once called and the county coroner was summoned. The splendid state of preservation indicated that the man had not been long dead.
Dr. N. L. Seelye, a local eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, dispelled the murder theory by informing police that he had had the head for a number of years for experimental purposes and that it had been thrown away by persons cleaning out his barn.
A Rare Bargain
For many months I have not advertised a grove in these columns, and when I do so today, it's because I am firmly convinced that I have a real bargain for sale.
I have personally inspected this grove and must say there is a buy as I have not had for many years. There is a good reason why this grove must be sold at once, and therefore I urge you to investigate today.
11 acres of fine, uniform 9 year-old valencia trees and 4 acres of 2 year-old grapefruit trees, the soil is of the best loamy silt in a fine close-in location and there are chances for oil. This 15 acres sell for $35,000 on easy terms. There is nothing wrong with it, but it must be sold and you cannot act too quickly, for this will go in a day or so.

"GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL" UNLIKELY
COLUMBUS, Oct. 5. — "America cannot be put into a book," asserts Prof. Joseph Villiers Denney, head of the English department, Ohio State University, who doubts whether the "great American novel" ever "will arrive."
"People who have believed in the coming of the great American novel have collectively made up a sort of recipe for it, each contributing an essential ingredient." Professor Denney declared. "It must be written by a real American. It must envision America in these motifs, characters, life pulse, national aspiration and natural scenery and background. It must be most of all, a genuine work of art, adequate in structure to the greatness of the conception embodied."
"This is a large contract," continued Professor Denney. "I am afraid that some essential will be left out when the work stands complete. America cannot be put into a book. Life is bigger than literature."
