Proud entertained the Thimble Club at her home on Florence avenue recently. This was the first meeting since the summer vacations. The afternoon was spent in needle-work and chatting after which dainty refreshments were served, to the following Mesdames C. Sekof field, Chester Scheupbach, Ray Red fren, Rosa Holson, William Cramer Dewey Page, Claude Ridgeway, Otto Scott and hostess Mrs. Proud. Sunday evening dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Kerr on Erna-st., were Mr. and Mrs. Savage of Fullerton. Mrs. J. L. Balcom entertained at her home Sunday, this was a dinner party given in honor of Mr. G. A Henbest patal day. A huge birthday cake with twenty-eight candles was the center of attraction. Bixby Park in Long Beach was the scene of a very delightful gathering Sunday, when a number of friends gathered in honor of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Boling who will leave the latter part of the week for their home in Oklahoma. A bountiful picnic lunch was served at noon, after which the afternoon was spent in chatting and watching the youngsters in play. Those from La Habra included Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Walker and daughter Evelyn, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Scott and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Ervine and son Fred Ervine and wife of Taft, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Whittier, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker, and Mr. and Mrs. Keth of Long Beach, Mr. and Mrs. V. O. Walker and honoree Mr. and Mrs. Boling. Mrs. W. P. Milla was a Los Angeles visitor Tuesday. Mr. James Balcom, accompanied by Misses Nellie Shepherd of Yorba Linda and Mary Shepherd, Ruth Balcome, Mr. Edmond Canfield attended the Wayfarer in Los Angeles Friday evening. Brean class of the Methodist Sunday school met at the Social Hail Monday evening. After a short business meeting in which they re-elected INVESTIGATE DEATH HAGERSTOWN, Md., Sept. 28.-Richard Miller, 14, was found hanging to a tree this afternoon. State's Attorney Wolffinger ordered an immediate autopsy. The body revealed signs of injuries that could not have been self-inflicted. Police think the deed was not committed by the boy.
