UNIQUE DWELLING ON HISTORIC SITE BELLAIRE, O., Sept. 28.—Plans for a unique dwelling to be erected on the cliff above the national road at what is known as McCulloch's leaflin Wheeling, W. Va., are being drawn by J. R. Anderson, local architect. At the summit of the national road's route over Wheeling Hill, toward Washington, Pa., is a steep decline extending several hundred feet to Wheeling Creek shore. On the opposite side of the road is a cliff mounting still higher. On the solid rock; on the hillside, the house is to be built. It will have two towers, resembling an English castle. There will be two apartments on the top floor and one on the lower. The house will be visible down the Ohio river valley for perhaps a dozen miles. The site of the proposed dwelling, history books relate, has been made famous because a Major McCulloch, a pioneer soldier, rode his horse over the steep hillside while escaping from Indians. Ethel Clayton Adds To Claim For Fame Radiantly beautiful and brilliantly capable in a role that gives her full play for her emotional ability to register emotion, Ethel Clayton again adds to her claim for a foremost place in the movie hall of fame through her work in "Can a Woman Love Twice?", which was shown last night at the United theater. As a cabaret entertainer forced to work as such to support herself and her little son, Miss Clayton is enabled to show, piercingly the struggles of a good, clean girl against an environment from which her whole being shrinks. Her emotional transitions, from portraying the cabaret girl with a song on her lips and an October Magazines Physical Culture Magazine has an unusually striking cover. The table of contents includes an editorial by Dr. Frank Crane, "Have You A Body to Be Proud Of?" "There'll Be Millions of Worthless Kidneys In This Country in Five Years." "Knockout Riley" (serial), "You Can't Be Virtile if You Eat Wrong Foods," "I Was An Ugly Duckling, But I Grew to Be Beautiful" and "Eight Hundred Thousand People Will Die This Year Unnecessarily," by Bernarr Macfadden, "the father of physical culture." True Story announces it is printing over a million copies of the November issue. No other magazine ever attained a like circulation within five years of birth. A prize of $2000 is offered for true stories of its readers' lives. True Romances, new sister to True Story, makes its second appearance. The contents include "Behind the Scenes in a Hollywood Studio," "The Woman Who Played the Fool," "The Story of a Repentant Woman." Metropolitan begins Fulton Ourler's new serial, "Rehold Thi Dreamer." Among other features "The Husband They Picked for Rebecca," "Of Course She's a Nice Girl, But—," "Killing the Goose That Lays the Golden Egg," by Bernarr Macfadden, and the announcement of the winners in the Forever and Ever, Amen contest. "From Tenement House to Governor's Chair" is the leading article in National Brain Power. Other inspirational features are "How to Lengthen Life," by Bernarr Macfadden, illustrated with photographs posed by Arthur Leslie, who holds the world's amateur strong man championship for his age. "Beautiful Womanhood," edited by Mrs. Bernarr Macfadden, contains among other features "Building the Body Beautiful," "The Man who was Afraid of Love," "See How Grandma Dressed," "How it Feels to Be a Circus Girl," several serials and "Your Health and Beauty," a department by Dr. Paul J. As a cabaret entertainer forced to work as such to support herself and her little son, Miss Clayton is enabled to show, piercingly the struggles of a good, clean girl against an environment from which her whole being shrinks. Her emotional transitions, from portraying the cabaret girl with a song on her lips and an ache in her heart to delineating the character of a young mother fighting for the future of her child, are some of the finest bits of emotional acting ever seen on the screen. To detail the story in this review would spoil many of its surprising twists Suffice it to say that it is a picture that no one who loves excellent dramatic entertainment can afford to miss. It will be shown twice again tonight. Unqualified Approval of Madame Matzenauer In his spicy and original reviews of the Metropolitan Opera performance, "The Pied Piper" pipes in Town Topics his unqualified approval of Margaret Matzenauer's golden and glorious voice. Of Trovatore and Samson and Delliah he writes: "The Trovatore representation brought forth a marvelous Azucena in Mme. Matzenauer, who does soprano, alto and contralto roles with equal suavity and effectiveness." "Margaret Matzenauer makes all other Delilian versions than her own seem tame and unconvincing. She is the very incarnation of seductive sin. Her voice has the mellowness of the Oriental, but her singing method has Parisian finish and flexibility."
