RECALL DAYS OF UNDERGROUND BAR ST. LOUIS Sept. 5.—Beneath one of St. Louis' busiest corners where the heat of the season rises out of the pavement and sidewalks and where the mercury hovers around the century mark in the shade, still lies Uhrig's Cave, where old filmers remember beer was cooled in the good old days. The spot drew its patronage by its wide reputation for serving beer that was drawn from underground cellars. Bus lines were installed to bring the customers to and from the city to the cave. An effort was made to serve passengers in the underground passages but because of the cold atmosphere below it failed to appeal to the habitats of the gardens and at this juncture the first outdoor comic opera in America was produced. Many stage celebrities appeared on the stage which was constructed on the site above the ground including Miss Antoinette Folta. Fifteen thousand persons gathered at the tri-state aquatic convention at Michigan City, Ind., recently proclaimed Miss Antoinette Folta, Michigan City girl, the Hoosier state's prize beauty.
