10,000 BBL GUSHER AT SANTA FE SPRINGS
At Santa Fe Springs the Shell Co. made the oil operators gasp this week with a 10,000 barrel well. It was thought that Santa Fe Springs' day for 10,000 barrel producers had passed, but it seems this is not the case for the Shell Company's Golay property at least. Golay 5 completed at 4727 is the new sensation of the Santa Fe Springs field. The big well now the biggest in the field is making 10,300 barrels of 34 gravity oil. The famous EMSCO screen pipe lines the well from 4163 to 4727.
Oscar Howard an independent producer at Santa Fe Springs who has furgored steadily to the front ranks of Springs oil operators followed the Shell Company's big well with a 7000 barrel producer on the Hathaway property. Hathaway 3 was the well, and was completed at 4693. The burrows another of the famous production genius Mika Burrows put the big Howard well on production.
In the ranks of production honors the General Petroleum followed Mr. Howard with a 4700 barrel well on the Santa Fe property. Santa Fe No. 37 at 4740 is making 34 gravity oil. The completion of No. 37 puts the General Petroleum well up on the list of Santa Fe Springs producers.
The Buckeye-Union Oil Company completed a 2000 barrel producer at No. 2. This well has been standing ready to be put on production for several weeks. The producer is making 34.5 gravity clean oil, and is one of the best little wells of the southwest side of the field.
The Universal Oil Company completed a nice producer with the bringing in of Blanchard No., 2 a 2400 barrel well. Blanchard 2 was drilled to 46*2 and is making 34 gravity oil.
From the standpoint of geology the most interesting well now drilling in Southern California is the Standard Oil Company's Brownrigg-Kelder No. 2 making hole at the great depth of 6940. At 6940 the formation shows sandy brown shale and continues to carry beautiful speci-

From the standpoint of geology the most interesting well now drilling in Southern California is the Standard Oil Company's Brownrigg-Keller No. 2 making hole at the great depth of 6910. At 6940 the formation shows sandy brown shale and continues to carry beautiful specimens of sea shells. Drilling at 6940 with the rotary is something of an accomplishment itself. The present depth of the Brownrigg-Keller No. 2 makes it the deepest test hole yet drilled in California. It is hoped that no mechanical difficulties will develop and that Ralph Winger will be allowed to proceed with a world record for deep hole and rotally work.
The biggest thing at Huntington Beach this past week was the 1000 barrel well completed by the Amalgamated Oil Company on the Milley-Keck property. The Milley-Keck producer was completed at 3860 and is making 26 gravity oil.

FINISH CLOCK WELL AT 6000-FT. DEPTH
The General Petroleum has decided to give the oil operators thrush out the world something to shoot at, and will finish the famous Clock 1 well at 6000 feet. A few days ago drilling was stopped at 5959 and preparations made to bring the well in. The decision to go to 6000 feet gives the Clock well and the General Petroleum Corporation a unique place among the oil producers of the world in that this well be the deepest oil producer ever drilled. A few wells in the Roumanian field produce oil at a depth of 5600 feet, the wells do not flow and the Guid level is too low to pump. The Roumanian producers have to be bailed. With the heavy gas pressure the General Petroleum has had to contend with there is no doubt about the manner in which the Clock well will produce its oil.
The Shell Company of California led the Beach field this week for new and big production. Shell-Binkley No. 1 a completion at 5251 cane in at 2660 barrels. The gravity is of interest in that it is the highest the field has yet produced, 30.2. The completion of the Shell Co., is Binkley well seems to mean that the deeper you go at Long Beach the bigger the production of high gravity oil.
Max Whittier an independent operator at Long Beach took second honors for production with a 2500 barrel well on the west side of the field. The Whittier well was drilled to 4615 and the production registers 24 gravity.
A couple of 1500 barrels were put on production by the Marine Oil Corporation and the Henderson Petroleum Syndicate. The Marine Oil completed No. 15, and the Henderson well No. 1 on the Ellin property. The Ellin well was drilled to 1262 and the Marine 15 to 4100. Both wells are making 23 gravity oil.
Drilling on the Northwest Extension's No. 1 has passed the 5300 mark and the outlook is not particularly encouraging. At 5300 the formation is a hard sand that carries some gas. The Braddock-Haslam Drilling Com-
MARCHING WITH THE LEGION
Guidance of American participation in the conference of the Intercalled Veterans' Federation in Brussels, where it is proposed to prepare an agenda for international peace, is in the hands of a committee of American Legion officials who recently sailed for Europe on the Leviathan. National Commander Alvin Owlsley headed the legion party, but will take no part in the actual deliberations of the convention, to be attended by delegates representing fifteen millions of former service men. The committee is headed by Col H.-Nelson Jackson, of Burlington, Vermont.
This committee has secured detailed information relative to participation of the United States in such a program for world peace. Basing a work on the manifesto of the Intercalled Veterans' Federation, promoted at the 1922 convention in New Orleans, the members of the delegation have an accumulation of the views of prominent citizens that are on the program outlined. The manifesto declared unqualifiedly for establishment of a "world court" to "outlaw war;" it demanded suppression of disloyal persons who sought to overthrow governments existing by will of people; it supports the breaking off of trade relations with nations that maintain large armies for aggressive purposes, and dictates a policy of opposition to territorial aggrandizement.
In an effort to ascertain the viewpoint of leading Americans, commander Owsley directed the sending

Drilling on the Northwest Extension's No. 1 has passed the 5300 mark and the outlook is not particularly encouraging. At 5300 the formation is a hard sand that carries some gas. The Braddock-Haslam Drilling Company intends to carry the well to 5500 before considering abandonment.
The United Oil Company's Bixby 1 is now producing about 400 barrels daily. After considerable difficulty the well has been put on regular production and is making good. While not a big well it is good enough for the opener of what may be considered a new field at Long Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Hathe left on Saturday for a vacation trip to the Yosemite park.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carey and children are spending a two weeks out touring in the northern part of the state. Mr. and Mrs. James will occupy home while they are away.

ABANDON BEACH WELL AT 4980 FEET
Leonard and Porter failed to have an even break on the luck with Macdonald No. 1 at Huntington Beach and have filed notice with the Mining Bureau to abandon the well at 4980. Drilling on Macdonald No. 2 is going ahead nicely at 3500, and the outlook is encouraging.
Montebello is all excited over the H. L. Whiston well on the Bicknell property. Showings of oil and gas from 4000 to 4400 has been the cause of the excitement. Pretty near every other man in the town is running around showing a sample of the oil and sand taken from the Whiston well. Drilling is now at 4425 and the showings continue to make the well promising. Whiston is making an effort to open up a deep sand and extend the west end of the Montebello field a mile and a half from present production.
With the peak of production reached at Huntington Beach the curtailing of development at Santa Fe Springs and the slowing of extensive and intensive drilling at Long Beach, a famous old field Richfield seems to be the next place for the development of the near future. As soon as development and production in the three great fields of So. Cal. declines sharply and it is predicted that that decline will come within the next six months development will swing back to Brea and Richfield. Brea-Richfield has much yet to be done in the way of deep sand defellement. That Brea and Richfield are scheduled son to figure heavily in the oil development of So. Calif. is evidenced by a number of things. For several months leasing has been quietly under way. The Union Oil Co., alone has taken more than 160 acres, the properties including the Fuller-ten Great West, the San-Diego Consolidated, had the Providential. The

FINISH REMODELING AT ANAHEIM NAT'L
The improvements to the interior of the Anaheim National Bank, which are practically completed, have made what are equivalent to new quarters for the institution. Compact, but commodious, the office spaces are twice as many as previously, while the decorations are beautiful without being loud.
Botticino marble in a buff color with lines forms the counter, with black Belgian marble at their base, and the floor is of Tennessee marble to match. There are two marble geeks; also of Botticino marble. The plan to use Taneruelle marble was abandoned.
The walls are decorated in a stitched blend of colors in which a light rose predominates.
The ceiling is adorned in light blue on a background of light buff Union has started a well that will have something to do with the near future development, a well on the Tuffre property. The Shell Company of California is going to be in heavy on this new development as evidenced by the leases the company has, the big preparations being made at Brea in the shape of big shops, warehouses and office buildings.
The Torrance field got another nice little well with the completion of the Hub Oil Company's Smith well at 3530. The Hub producer is making 600 barrels.
The feature of the Torrance field this week is the heavy development campaign being started by the Chanlor-Canfield Midway Dll Co. in the southeast end of the field. The Chanlor-Canfield has 8 new wells starting.
The dozen or more companies that got into the Torrance field immediately after the opening of the southeast section by the Midway Northern are now about ready to start drilling. The Pan-American Petroleum Company started two wells on the Marble property. Geo. F. Getty has a well drilling. "Tux"

In the rear to the east of the vault is the directors room, the decoration scheme of which is similar to that of the rest of the bank.
The bank will have a public opening about Sept. 15, when it is expected a few pieces of furniture which have not yet come will have arrived.
