1500-BARREL WELL ON FOSTER LEASE (By R. J. Munger) The Petroleum Midway and the Hager-Deniston interests led the Long Beach field for the new production this week. Aside from a couple of wells, one a 1500 barrel producer and the other a 2000 barrel well the field had nothing spectacular. The Petroleum Midway's 1500 barrel well was completed on the Foster property and is listed as Foster 11, depth 5018 feet. The well is making 22 gravity oil. On the Dorn lease the Hagar-Deniston Interests completed a 3000 bbl well at 5025. Dorn 1 is doing 27 gravity oil, and the oil is comparatively clean. The Brady & Well Syndicate has entered the Long Beach field and will make an effort to recover its losses sustained at Santa Fe Springs and get some oil for its stockholders. Brady has a well called the Sure Shot No. 1, located in the northwest section of the field. With the location made at Long Beach it is believed the Santa Fe Springs company will stage a successful comeback. The Bush-Verhis Oil Company got one of the good wells of the week at Long Beach with a 3000 barrel producer completed on the Bess property. Bess No. 1 completed in the deep zone at 5262 is making 25 gravity oil and is holding up to initial production exceptionally well. The world's deepest oil well, the General Petroleum's Clock No. 1 is reaching the finishing mark. It is understood that the well will be completed at 6000 feet. The formation from 2300 on has carried oil and when Clock No. 1 is placed on production there is every reason to believe that it will be one of the most long lived wells of the field. Clock No. 1 will be deeper than some of the former record deep producers of the Roumanian field by some 400 feet. Field superintendent Coolie is taking some little pride in the world record well at Long Beach and there is little doubt that when he completes the well the General Petrol- FIRST NAT'L SHOWS OLD PAPER MONEY An interesting display of old American paper money has been put on exhibit in the windows of the First National and American Savings Banks, the loan of Linnaeus D. Witherill, rancher near Anaheim. It consists of currency of Civil War times in 16 cent, 15 cent, 25 cent and 50 cent pieces. Another display in the window is of continental money, issued in shillings before and during the Revolution. It is the loan of Postmaster Harry J. Whitaker. On the two shillings piece appears the following: "According to an act of General Assembly passed in the Tenth Year of the Reign of his Majesty George the Third. Dated the Srd Day of April Anno Dominal 1772." eum and the oil industry of California will have something to do proud of. The Havenstrite-Baker Well Drilling company in addition to drilling all the wells for the Transport Oil Company have a well of their own on the Edens-Wallace property. The Edens-Wallace No. 4. While the Havenstrite-Baker organization is one of the latest contracting firms in the field, both Baker and Havenstrite are experienced oil men and their work will be successful. The extreme northwest section of the Long Beach field now being pioneered by the Silverado Corporation is attracting some little attention it seems. Two more rigs are up, and these have been located still further north and west from present production. Mathews and Hassel Los Angeles men are the new locators and it is understood that they plan on immediate developments. The Harry C. Noonan well from 3000 back to 2300 looked so good that it has been decided to change the program a little, set a string of 11-inch and give the showings a try out. Located on the south slope of the Hill on what was formerly considered outbustful territory the Noonan well is attracting some little attention with its good showing and good outlook. Bob Cook, a veteran of the oil business is doing the drilling.
