HONEYMOONERS WILL LOCATE IN CYPRESS-HOME MR. AND MRS. FRED PLAXCO have returned from honeymoon at San Dimas where they were joined by Long Beach friends. Mr. and Mrs. Plaxco were married at a pretty out door wedding under the grape arbor at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. McWilliams, of Cypress, Tuesday, evening, July 24, at 6 o'clock, Rev. Scott Anderson, of the I. B. S. A. in Los Angeles, performing the simple ceremony. The bride was attired in grey satin with net overdress and carried white carrations. Thiray-five relatives and friends were present at the ceremony and informal reception following which included the parents of the bride, Gertrude and Elmer McWilliams; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Smith, Miss K. G. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. L. Valentine; Mrs. L. Park, Miss Edua Park, Mrs. L. McWilliams, Mrs. Leake the Misses Mildred Lucas and Ann McWilliams, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Dohm, Joe McWilliams, Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Smith, Downey; Miss Ethel Conway, Buena Park; Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, Turlock and the immediate family of the groom. The young couple will reside in a pretty new home on the McWilliams tract near Cypress. Pleasant Birthday Mrs. H. Bowen entertained her daughters and their families yesterday afternoon, with a party in honor of the birthday of Mrs. R. J. Dugdale. The afternoon was passed socially. Guests included Mrs. Ruth Livingston and daughters, Mrs. R. L. Bowen and daughter, Mrs. Ernest Bowen and son, Mrs. R. J. Dugdale and three sons and Mrs. H. Bowen. "Help!" Sharks in Plunge! Six "sharks" enjoyed the cool waters of the "Y" plunge last evening. Mabel Hathaway was in charge of the swim and the girls had a delightful time. After the swim, Mrs. Hathaway treated the girls to sphagetti, coffee and sandwiches. Enjoying the fun were Misses Luccille and Bernardine Bastian, Rose Polrier, Helen Melhorn, Mrs. Agnes Saviers, Mrs. Florence Smith and Mrs. Hathaway. Club Dances at Beach The Terpischore club journeyed to Seal Beach in a body last evening where they held the regular dancing party in the pavilion, of which they had the exclusive use. Club Goes to Beach The Riley Studebaker Club's monthly party assumed a novel form last evening, meeting in Analeim Landing. First on the program was the swim indulged in to work up a good appetite, but when Harry D. Riley plunged in the waves rose so high they threatened to extinguish the bonfire over which the weinica were being cooked. Concerted warnings squelched Mr. Riley's frolicings and events then went off nicely. The weinie roast was followed by a watermelon feed, and 40 club members voted this one of the very jolliest of their occasions. Whist Club Meeting Mrs. Fred Mickle was hostess yesterday to the members of the Wednesday Whist club. The afternoon hours were merrily passed over the card tables. Prizes were awarded Mrs. Jewell, first; Mrs. Abbott, second; Mrs. Mickle, third. A two course luncheon was served after the games. Four substitutes played for the absent members, Mrs. S. Stock, Mrs. Bert Morley, Mrs. Alice Booth, Mrs. John Johnson, the members present were Mr. W. J. Jewell, Mrs. J. L. Abbott, Mrs. R. Seale, Mrs. L. Witherill, Mr. W. P. Quarton, Mrs. Carl Martin and Mrs. Tom Dietrick. Evening in Long Beach Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Wilson and their guest, Mrs. Oscar Lindquist will be guests this evening of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilson at Long Beach. The trio went down to the beach in the afternoon where they passed the day. Mrs. Lindquist will return to hot home in San Francisco tomorrow. BREA NEWS BREA, Aug. 2.(Spl.)—Mr. Dale Oaks and Ceil Bird from Chino were Brea visitors Sunday. Miss Alice Winchel was a Seal Beach visitor with friends. Mr. and Mrs. West will move into Mrs. Gills house on the alley in a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Schwalbe on West Cedar-st, entertained friends from Flagstaff Sunday to a six o'clock dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Brown motored to Balboa Beach Sunday afternoon on a pleasure trip. Grandmother Taylor is not well this weather, it affects her asthma. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wolfe and family of La Habra joined J.E. Reynolds and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Tom McKey from Pasadena in a winer bake Saturday at Fullerton Park. Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Jim Bergman's mother, will visit relatives in Downy for a week or more, Mrs. Parke and family. Several Brea folks attended the convention and banquet in Long Beach Monday at the Christian church. Those attended were Mesdames Sullivan, Reynolds, Snayley, Bruce, Heartfield, Hamton, Harvey, Taylor and Chambers, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Reynolds and W.E. Spice. Mrs. Bergman and sons Walter and Morris and grandmother Morris spent Tuesday evening at Mrs. Chambers' home on S. Walnut-st. The Boy Scouts with their master Mr. Lee are enjoying a week at Big Bear Lake. Mrs. C. Slosson was an Anaheim and Fullerton visitor Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Charles Harvey was a Los Angeles visitor Tuesday. Mrs. Chambers visited Mrs. Talbot in Long Beach Sunday and attended the Christian Church and heard Rev. Geo. Taubman. OLINDA MAN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS George Calkins, 75, died last night at 6:30, after a continued illness, at his home on Columbia lease, Olinda, where the family has resided for five years. He is survived by his wife and a granddaughter, Miss Eula Niles. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the Seale Undertaking parlor. Rev. Kemp and Stone of Olinda, officiating. Mrs.Frederick R.Schiller is in Auto Salesmen Picnic BUENA PARK, Aug. 2.(Spl.)—Antonio Andrea failed to hear the whistle and drove into a string of fast moving cars at Northam about 5:30 Tuesday evening。他 was taken to the Buena Park Sanitarium where Dr.Julian P.Johnson found a fractured rib, cuts and bruises on his head and a badly cut arm.Mr.Andrea was visiting at the M.Del Giorgio home on Orangethorpe ave,and was removed to the home of Mr.Del Giorgio after treatment was given.Andrea states that the train did not whistle, but Mr.L.A.Newman,the agent,says the train did whistleand he pulled the train order board when he heard the train whistle.A truck had just passed over the crossing and owing to the noise of both cars it was possible that Andrea did not hear the train. It was Santa Fe train No. 53 running from San Diego to Los Angeles and left Fullerton at 5:30 p.m.The train was stopped and an investigation made before proceeding to Los Angeles. E.P.Mann is recovering from a tonsil operation at the Buena Park Sanitarium on Thursday. Mrs.Claude Butler of Park avenue is the new clerk in the dry goods department at Scott and Frampton's store. Plans are complete for a great day with the old friends and all the usual features will be carried out by president E. H. Hinshaw who will be in charge. The Odd Fellow lodge of Brea held an enjoyable dance last evening in their hall in that city. Several Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Anaheim helped swell the crowd. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Oliver, grandparents of Mrs. W. J. Liewellyn have been their guests recently but are visiting in Los Angeles. They will return; however, and stay the remainder of the summer, to avoid the heat of their home town, Santa Clara. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd West and children have returned from a ten days' outing at Big Bear lake. Misses Wilma Mitchell and Mabel Kitchens and Rosace Ingrum and Pierre Davis, formed a merry party to Balboa last evening. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stoltz and four children have arrived in Anaheim to visit Mrs. R. B. Herman, Mr. Stoltz's sister, and in Santa Ana with Mrs. Stoltz's mother. R. B. Herman is passing today in Pasadena. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Shaffer, 526 S. Palm-st., have returned from a month's visit with her mother at Houston, Texas. She says California climate is far superior to that of Texas and is glad to be at home. Rev. L. L. Myers is in Long Beach today attending the state Christian conference in session there all week. Others from the local church have been attending each day. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Nellesen and son, Alvin have returned from a week passed at Arch Beach in the pretty cottage, "Idylease." The siren on the fire house was too low and people in some parts of town had difficulty in hearing it. Tuesday the siren was put on a 30-foot pole at the rear of the fire house and should awaken every one now in case of fire. The ladder cart was also repaired and some painting done. Work is progressing rapidly on the new school building and Mr. Reed the janitor has been busy repairing the old buildings and making board walks ready for the next term. Mrs. Rankin is very ill at the home of her daughter Mrs. Pauline Cole, she suffered a stroke of paralysis last week and as Mrs. Rankin is 93 years old it is not expected that she will recover from the attack. Mrs. John Robertson substituted in the post office on Wednesday when Mr. and Mrs. Jaynes were business visitors to Los Angeles. Starbuck's Reds See classified ad. Among them were members of the Delphian society, Mrs. Frederick R. Schiller, Mrs. G. F. Grim, Mrs. Thomas Lumsdon, Mrs. M. Turton, Miss Dent, Mrs. M. J. Bradley and daughter, Margaret and son, Edmund, and Miss Marjorie Utter and the Utter's house guest, Miss Cooper. All the ladies were delighted with the performance and are high in their praise of Miss Cowl's ability. BRIDAL COUPLE'S PARENTS SERVE AS ATTENDANTS At an early hour this morning, Miss Evelyn Marie Raymond, charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Rayniond, became the bride of John Swartz, of Hollywood, at the home of the bride's parents, 527 S. Resch-st. Sweet simplicity marked the marriage rites which were performed by Rev. L. L. Myers of the Christian church. The bride was very lovely in her dress of coral crepe de chine with trimmings of silver flowers. She wore no veil but had a silver bandeau. Her bouquet was lovely with pink sweetpeas and breath of heaven intertwining. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond stood at the right of the couple and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farley at the left. The wedding was performed in the presence of 40 relatives and friends JOLLY FRIENDS AT BEMISH HOME ON NATAL DAY A JOLLY crowd of Anaheimers went to the home of Edward Beismish at Fullerton last evening where they helped him celebrate his birthday anniversary. The party was a complete surprise and where the excitement subdued, games and contests were proposed, which were enjoyed until a late hour. A birthday cake with plenty of ice cream was served and late in the evening the guests departed for their homes, wishing Mr. Beismish many happy returns of the day. Motoring over were Mr. and Mrs. O. P. N. Brower and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bowan, Mr. and Mrs. W. Van Cleave, Mr. and Ms. J. L. Carlott and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy and family, Misses Lois Johnson, Naomi Johnson and Margaret Johnson, Doris Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Simon and family. Choose Anaheim for Home Mr. and Mrs. Ralph M. Squier and two sons, formerly of Minneapolis, arrived in Anaheim last evening and will make their home here. Mr. Squier is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Squier. He is a lather by trade and comes to the southland to assist in the great building. The journey was made in their Ford over the Lincoln highway to San Francisco, and from there down the coast. They camped on the way and required only two weeks for the journey. Mrs C. R. John has returned from a visit at LaVerne with Mrs. William True, former secretary of the Goat Association of So Calif., and Rev. L. L. Myers of the Christian church. The bride wore her wedding dress on the honeymoon trip and a chic hat and cape completed her outfit. She attended high school last year but did not graduate. For the past several months she has been working at the local clinic. Mr. Swartz is an oil worker at Long Beach. After a honeymoon trip of several days, Mr. and Mrs. Swartz will be at home in Santa Ana to their many friends. Betrothal Announcement Mr. and Mrs. A. Curtis Case of 729 N.
