Miscellaneous OIL WRECKS FINAL DINNER COURSE CHICAGO, July 30—Professor Henry R. Bingo wasn't satisfied to poison himself with common, ordinary saloon liquor. He had to go out of his way to find venom. With both hands on his aching stomach, he told from his hospital cot today how it all happened. The professor was in a none too elegant beer saloon when he remarked that he was so hungry he could eat a raw dog. He craved nine or ten pounds of nourishment. "You can't eat that much," sniffed a tipper. "Bet you ten meg I can" the darling eater said. Someone covered his ten and the professor, keeping tab on his fingers, said: "Gentlemen I shall eat seven lbs. of boneless herring. I shall eat 24 hot dogs. Six tins of sardines will I absorb. Then, gentlemen, to show you what a pushover it is, I'll quaff twenty glasses of beer without so much as a tremor." The professor swallowed herring until it looked as if reserves would have to be called out of the North Sea. "Check" said he, tackling the hot dogs. The bartender scrambled off herring. "Check" said Bingo. The dogs were gone. And again "check" gone too the sardines. "Fill them up," gurgled the professor, swallowing the first three glasses fearlessly. On the eleventh nobelt the professor pitched over on the barroom floor with a dull thud. An ambulance carted him to the hospital. There he was pumped out. It was found that tricksters had put oil of mustard in his eleventh glass. "It was a dirty, dirty trick," said Bingo and impatiently added; NEW TODAY FOR SALE—Toggenberg milk goat, also Airdale dog, very reasonable. 604 W South, Phone 888R Anaheim. STATE PRODUCES FOR LOW FIGURES (By International News Service) SACRAMENTO, July 30 — While dainty 'Tut' slippers are retailing as high as $25 a pair, California is producing shoes just as attractive and considerably more durable for $2.18 at the Napa State Hospital farm it was claimed today by R. H. Braden, member of the State Board of Control. Braden also announced that the state dairy at Napa is producing milk at 17-12 cents a gallon as compared with the current market price of 24 cents. As against today's quotation of 40 cents, state agriculturists are supplying the Napa Hospital with eggs at 8 cents a dozen.
