CHATEAU THIERRY DISTRICT PROVEN
By HELLWOOD J. MUNGER
The Chateau Thierry District of Long Beach is now a proven oil field. The honor of extending the Long Beach field a couple of miles northwest went to the Union Oil Co. with the bringing in of a $80 to a 1000-barrel well on the Bixby property. At the time the well was located about five months ago the location was considered pretty much of a mildeat location and was not given a great deal of consideration. Bixby No. 1 had to go close to 4960 feet in order to get the production but the good results secured has fully warranted the deep drilling. Bixby No. 1 started flowing last Friday afternoon, the well is flowing by heads and is believed it will get under way and make a nice producer. The coming into production of the United's Bixby makes the Northwest Extension well look very promising. At 4818 the Northwest has a very nice showing of oil, and drilling in hard shell now at 4900 it is thought that the drill is now in the cap rock and that the Northwest will be making good in a week or so.
The Regina Petroleum Corporation's Judd No. 1 has been in the oil lime light for several months with its reports of showing and good indications. Something of a disappointment was met with a few days ago when a production test was made and the well yielded mostly water. The Regina well was drilled to 5150, and had several intermittent sands carrying oil and water. Many of the oil sands ran close to the water sands and made it difficult to shut off the water completely. It is the consensus of opinion that the Judd well can be fixed up and made a commercial producer.
Among the independents who placed wells on production this past week at Long Beach mention should

Among the independents who placed wells on production this past week at Long Beach mention should be made of the 1400-barrel well completed and put on production by the Acme Oil Company. The Acme's producer was completed on the Dameron property at 4001 feet and is making a 24 gravity product.
The largest well in the independent list was that of the Patton Cassody Organization. Patton Cassody No. 1 finished at 4205, started off at 2500 barrels and looks like one of the good wells of the field. The gravity of this new producer is 24 and the oil is very clean. The bringing in of such wells by the little operators has proven Long Beach again and again one of the greatest oil fields in the West for the small operator to get in, get a little property, and get production in the shortest possible time.
The biggest well of the week for the Long Beach field was put on production by the Shell Company of California. The Shell Company completed Wilbur No. 2 at a depth of 5121, a 8000-barrel well making 28 gravity oil. The Shell Wilbur, like other deep wells, demonstrates the great productibility and the possibilities for the development of deep sand production on the Wilbur district of the field, as well as in other sections. A little mechanical trouble has prevented the Shell Company's Alamitos 6 from going on production. This well, one of the deepest in the field, will be put on at 5250. The deep record for the field is held by the General Petroleum, with a producer at 5430.
