RUSSIA TO REGAIN GRAIN MARKET LONDON, July 2.—"Within the next few years Russia unquestionably will recover from her pre-war position in the world market as a source of supply of grain, agricultural products and raw materials." Leonid Krassin, Foreign Trade Commissioner of Soviet Russia, makes this confident and bold prediction. "It must not be forgotten," Krassin said, "that Russia emerged from a state of war and three years later than any other European country, and that during the European war she bore much heavier sacrifices, both economically and in loss of life." Krassin pointed out that the total value of Russia's exports has increased from $10,000,000 in 1921 to $40,000,000 in 1922. He stated that the anticipated value of exports in 1923 will be approximately $200,000,000, an increase of 400 percent per annum. BEAR IN MIND SUFFRAGE AIM LONDON, July 2.—American women granted one vote, must keep before them the ideals and objects of the suffrage movement and not become absorbed in partisan political issues. This is the advice and the warning given to American women by Mrs. Margaret Corbett Ashby, of London, newly-elected president of the International Women's Suffrage Alliance. Mrs. Ashby was elected at the Rome convention of the alliance in May to succeed Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, who was president of the organization from its foundation until she voluntarily retired this year. JAP PREACHER STARTS RELIGION CAMPAIGN TOKIO, July 2.—The opening of a third campaign to interest Japan- JAP PREACHER STARTS RELIGION CAMPAIGN TOKIO, July 2.—The opening of a third campaign to interest Japanese in a new religion was began in Tokio recently by Mr. Kaleeki Matumara, a veteran Christian preacher. "The fundamental basis of all religions is no more than reverence to God, elevation of spiritual life, universal brotherhood and long life," declares Matsumura. Matsumura is 65 years old and began his studies as a student of Confucianism. Since he became converted to Christianity he has written more than 70 books on religion. And yet it is rather difficult to think of Boston as the center of American culture when you note the standing of that ball club.
