NEWPORT ACQUIRES ARIZ. C. OF C. EXPERT Arizona contributes another commercial secretary to Orange-co in the person of Mr. Harry Welch, who has for 14 years presided as manager of Phoenix C. of C., and who probably has done more than any other man to promote the development of the Salt River Valley, one of the earth's greatest and richest cases. Welch's advent into this county is due to the activities of Geo. Peabody, of Newport Beach, Malcolm Fraser of this city and V. D. Johnson, secretary at Orange, who were formerly secretaries of civic bodies in Arizona, in its territorial and early state history. The health of the distinguished Arizona secretary became alarming last month, and the vacancy at Newport Beach then occurred. That progressive seaport town, at the instance of the secretaries aforenamed, put in a call for Harry's services, and, despite the fact that his present salary is twice that named by the city by the sea, he finally undertook to accept the responsibilities of making a deep sea harbor for Orange-co in the next five years. Those who know him believe that he will "cut the mustard," if human power can do the trick. His friends are organizing a banquet for Welch, at St. Ann's Inn, Santa Ana, July 2, at 7 p.m., at which supervisors, the county purchasing agent, Dr. Slabaugh, secrets of the 23 active commercial organizations of the county, Dr. J. D. Thomas, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, and a few others, notably from Newport, Balaño, Costa Mesa and adjacent points, will be present. "Welch," said Secretary Fraser this morning, "is without doubt one of the ablest fellows in the growing profession of civic servants, with a reputation second to none, all over the Union, and his advent among Orange-co citizens augurs well for our continued upbuilding of the prestige of California's richest county." LEVIATHAN MOVES LOS ANGELES POLICE TRAIL OF $500,000 (By International News Service) LOS ANGELES, June 21—Breaking suddenly when confronted with six members of his asserted gang, Cruz Jaramillo, who the police claim led the suspected "handlers" of the $450,000 bond robbery here last February, made a complete confession and offered to lead them to where the bonds are hidden. Immediately afterwards Jaramillo, where it was expected $22,000 would be found. The officers are known to have recovered so far $23,000 at a house in Aliso-st.; $21,000 from Angel Ruiz, already under arrest; $7000 from a bank deposit, and $23,000 at Maders. With Jaramillo's assistance the entire $450,000 in bonds was expected to be recovered. LOS ANGELES, June 21—Following the arrest of six persons, two of them women, in a raid on a house in Aliso-st, police today believed they had captured the bandit gang who last Feb. 12 held up and robbed a First National Bank mail car of $150,000 in bonds and murdered Sarn McGee, chauffeur. Though it was announced by the police that the roundup was complete, all details of the case were not revealed. ES POLICE ON $500,000 LOOT brought about by Assistant Captain Tom O'Brien and Detective Lieutenant Harry Raymond who for several weeks "travelled" with the gang as "one of them," gathering all evidence possible. Last night the officers attempted to negotiate a deal for $32,000 worth of the bonds and as the deal was being put through the police swooped down on the place and made the arrests. After a cheek was made it was stated by the police that practically all the stolen bonds had been recovered or accounted for. The Fidelity Deposit Co. of Maryland, a protective agency, is said to have furnished the first information that led to action in the case. During their association with the band, the officers are said to have lived with them at San Diego, Tia Juena, Murrietta Hot Springs and other places where they made merry with them and danced with the women members of the clique. The robbery took place when McGee, an old employee of the bank, and two other bank employees were returning from the postoffice with the mail pouch containing the bonds. The two men besides McGee were heavily armed. When the bank machine reached Fourth and Wall-sts, the bandit car carrying three men drew alongside McGee and commanded him to stop. He refused and several shots came from the bandit machine, killing McGee instantly. One of the robbers then snatched the mail pouch and with his friends fled while pedestrians looked on in horror. Grover Mellus, a shop owner near where the shooting took place, was wounded by a stray bullet. Confessions of the robbery and rhooting were expected to be wrung from the arrested persons today, the police said. OCEANSIDE INVITES Oceanside C. of C., thru Thos. Bakewell, secretary, has issued an invitation to Anaheim people to participate in their big Fourth of July celebration and Anaheim C. of C. directors favor a decorated car to carry the civic workers to that beautiful seaside resort. The good people of Oceanside point out that beaches to the northward are highly congested and that there is no beach on the Pacific Coast which can beat theirs for swimming, romping and a general good time. They intimate that there may be thousands of Anaheimers who are looking forward to their yearly bath and warrant that the Pacific at Oceanside is a veritable wash basin, capable even of the test of such an annual sacrifice of real estate. Those who will enter a car with Anaheim banners are requested to confer with the local secretary at the earliest possible time so that arrangements for decorations can be communicated ot. the Oceanside Fourth of July Committee. A big day is predicted. 20 LOST IN FLOOD (By International News Service) TOKYO, June 21—Indications today were that the death toll from floods sweeping Japan will reach a score. Piles Are Absorbed Never to Return This New Treatment Gives Absolute Relief from All Pain and Suffering. Guaranteed by all Good Druggists. Perhaps the most amazing discovery of recent years in the field of medicine is the discovery that Piles or Hemorrhoids can now be successfully treated at home by a wonderful substance to which the name of MOAVA has been given. For years it has been known that many so called remedies were simply palliative and gave only temporary relief while surgical operations, often adopted as a last resource, did not remove the cause but simply the formation, in no wise acting on the source of the trouble. The discoverers of MOAVA justly proud of their amazing discovery, desire all sufferers to know that they do not want a cent of anyone's money unless MOAVA, which comes in the form of suppositories, decisively conquers even in the worst case and they have instructed druggists all over the country to guarantee it in every case of blind, bleeding or protruding piles. Each little suppository, containing a certain definite amount of MOAVA reaches the exact place where by its soothing, healing action it first allows all inflammation, congestion and soreness; then being in direct contact with all ulcers and piles, causes them to be absorbed and vanished forever. In two or three days at most, even in cases of profuse that have resisted all known treatments, really wonderful results have been accomplished. SPECIAL NOTE—Out of town sufferers: 60 cents mailed to the Moava Products Co. of Rochester, N.Y., will bring a box by parcel post and guaranteed.
