PLANES CROSS U. S. FLIGHT IN 22 HOURS
(By Ellis H. Martin)
(L. N. S. Staff Correspondent)
SAN FRANCISCO, June 8.—When the full moon comes late this month a quiet, unassuming chap will start a flight which will be man's supreme test of domination of the air.
He is Clare K. Vance, former navigator instructor in the United States Army, and one of Uncle Sam's air mail flyers.
He blasts to fly from San Francisco / New York without stop in from 20 to 22 hours.
He will make the flight alone in a plane built entirely by himself. Vance is making the spectacular attempt "on his own." He is "on leave" from the air mail service and is planning the undertaking entirely under his own auspices.
Will nature stand the strain of 22 hours consecutive cross-country flying?
Vance, slight of build, but of determined disposition and long experience, as flyer, says he can. In the epoch-making flight of the T-2 access the country Lieutenants Kelly and MacReady alternated at the control. Vance will endeavor to annihilate space and time unaided.
He will make his start from Crissey Field here about ten o'clock in

HAYWARD DEALER BUYS FORD AGENCY
Sid McGraw, formerly Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor at Hayward, Calif., has taken over the business of George Dunton in Anaheim, effective Monday. The transaction is the most important in local auto circles perhaps in years.
The purchaser obtains the lease, contract as distributor and merchant, together with the used car lot on North Los Angeles-st near Chartres.
The Rimpant building involved is one of the finest for the auto business in Orange co.
The doors will be closed tomorrow to permit the undertaking of the inventory.
McGraw will maintain a first class show room and shop, including a complete stock of genuine Ford parts, accessories and oils and grease.
Dunton's sales during may amounted to 33 new and 21 used cars from the Anaheim branch alone and 114 new cars and 56 used from both establishments. The Anaheim record compares with 28 new cars and 18 used cars sold in May of 1926.

the morning. This will give him daylight flying over the treacherous Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains. His plane will have to lift over the mountains the 350 gallons of gasoline he will carry as motive power. He estimates he will have to fly 2600 miles to reach New York over the central course and expects to average 130 miles an hour.
Vance is sure of his plane. Aviators who have examined it agree it is a good plane. It is no freak. A French Samson motor of 250 horsepower will drive the plane. Vance has adopted the Gottingen wing, a radical departure from wing construction used in this country.
Vance is not a braggart. He has little to say regarding himself, his plane or his proposed flight but with quiet determination, he says: "I'll make it."

BANDITS AGREE TO RELEASE BANDITS
(By Edna Lee Booker)
(L.N.S. Staff Correspondent)
SHANGHAI, June 8.—Unverified reports reached here tonight that an agreement had been signed between the Paot-Zuku bandits and negotiations for the release of all prisoners still held by the bandit sinclining several Americans.
The report reaching here said the prisoners were to be released by daylight tomorrow morning.
Earlier reports of excellent progress in the negotiations encouraged local friends of the captives to hope that release is finally in sight for the captives who have been held by the bandits in their Shantung stronghold since the wrecking of the Shanghai-Peking express Sunday May 6.
