COMMENTS OF THE PRESIDENT
NEW YORK EVENING POST
"Represenative Cordell Hull of Tennessee we read in a Washington dispatch, "has penned in the bud an effort to put him forward as candidate" for the Democratic nomination president. We believe it. Furthermore, we believe that Representative Hull accomplished feat credited to him without half trying and if it becomes necessary to nip the bud he can do it wits one hand tied behind back. In the same dispatch we read that Arkansas legislature is booming Senator Benson for presidential honors, but we do not that Mr. Robinson has nipped the effort to bud. Apparently his curiosity is too much his discretion. He wonders just how much bud it would make if it were left alone. Ably the Arkansas legislators are wondering same thing.
Meanwhile Mr. McAdoo is qualifying for race by living down his past at the rate hours a day. He was born and spent all boyhood and part of his manhood in the State then he lived several years in New York 1920 or thereabout he became a permanent resident of California, where he is now one of oldest inhabitants. As the representative native Westerner he has an obvious advantage over Senator Robinson or Senator Under His one great danger is that one of the candidates will move to California before Democratic convention meets and by the necessity of his arrival prove himself a better forlorn than Mr. McAdoo. To ward off ward on event, the former secretary of treasured, director of the railroads, etc., marks occasionally, apropos of nothing that not a candidate, but as it is hard to get statement printed in the newspapers, or than once a fortnight, is feared that his will not develop as it should.

The hours of deepest mental depression in one's life may precede some great success or happiness, just as in nature, the darkest hour precedes the dawn. There is no depression that is not relieved sooner or later, by that which results and happifies.

This is only one of several glaring examples ineffective administration of a county jail. Hints of bribery and other irregularities have come from time to time, indicating reform broom to sweep through the jail be wielded.
