LOCAL GIRLS MAY SHATTER RECORDS
There's going to be some records broken Friday afternoon on the Lincoln H tract, Los Angeles, if Coach Irene Jacques knows what she is talking about. Coach Jacques is taking about a dozen stars to participate in the telegraphic meet with Lincoln girls. These records will be flashed to headquarters at Long Beach where they will be compared with records made by other schools.
Miss Francis Adams, all around star, has been diligently training and has come within a fraction of equalling the records. Coach Ray Elliot is assisting in the training. Miss Adams is entering the high and broad jump, hurdles and possibly relay. Other entries are Grace Holsworth, basketball throw--discus; Mae Requarth, basketball throw; Irma Young, base and basketball throw; Katherine Mene, broad jump and relay; Elsie Lange, hurdles and broad jump; Gwendolyn Smith, 50-yd. dash and relay; Josephine Gerard, 50 and 100-yd. dash and relay; Helen Daly, baseball throw and relay; Ella Cook, 50 and 100-yd. dash and relay; Kathryn Crauth, 50 and 100-yd. dash and relay.
A crowd of sport fans will accompany the team.

2 HUSKY SPARRING PARTNERS FOR JACK
(By International News Service)
GREAT FALLS, Mont., May 17—With the arrival in camp of two husky sparring partners, Champion Jack Dempey was scheduled to stage his first rounds of boxing Thursday in preparation for the Fourth of July title bout at Shelby with Tommy Gibbons.
George Godfrey, negro, and Jack Burke, both of Pittsburgh, will be the champion's first victims.
Dempey performed light work in his new quarters late Wednesday and was all sunless today when asked how he liked the site.
"It's the darb," he said, waving his arms in the general direction of the Rocky Mountains, 60 miles away.
The training quarters are on the site of the old Volk Brewery. His ring will be pitched along side the ruins of the building destroyed by fire some years ago.
Dempey closed the deal for the training quarters himself by turning over a crisp $100 bill to Charles Volk, son of the owner, as the initial payment.
Directly across the Missouri river from the training camp are the grounds of the Meadow Lark Country club, where Dempey will play golf. On an island in the river is a city park, a landmark of the old Lewis and Clark expedition discovered in 1804. A mile south of the training quarters the explorers fought off hostile Indians 119 years ago.
The retinue of sparring partners, trainers and other aides of the champion will occupy a house that was formerly the home of Brewer Volk.
