U. S. C. STUDENTS FATALLY INJURED (By International News Service) LOS ANGELES, April 23—Five University of Southern California students were injured, two perhaps fatally early today in a spectacular auto collision at Western ave and Wilshire blvd. The injured are: Edwin Abrams, 23, San Luis Obispo, fractured skull; Ocell Lemon, 22, Pasadena, probable skull fracture; Al Weason, 23, broken arm and cutt and bruises; Dean McClusky, 18, concussion of the brain; Clifton McCluskey, 19, contusions and abrasions about the head, arms and face. The machine in which the students were riding was traveling on Western ave and crashed into the front wheels of an automobile driven by Thomas Buckley. Buckley told the police that Wesson, who was driving the student's car, was traveling about 45 or 50 miles an hour. Wesson's car overturned after careening for 100 yards down the street, pinning its occupants beneath it. YORBA LINDA YORBA LINDA, April 23. (Spl.) Wickett NON-STOP FLIGHT ACROSS U.S., PLAN (By George E. Durno) (I N. S. Staff Correspondent) WASHINGTON, April 28—Lleutenants Oakley G. Kelly and John A. MacReady of the army air service, America's greatest aerial "record busters," within the next week plan to undertake the setting up of still another world record by negotiating a non-stop coast to coast flight, it was learned here today. Details of the contemplated trip call for continuous flying from Mitchell Field, Long Island, N.Y., to San Diego, Calif., approximately 2700 miles and necessitating an endurance of about 32 hours in the air. The flight will be made in the T-2, the same thick wing monoplane in which Kelly and MacReady recently smashed the "hours in the air" record and in which last fall they covered almost 2000 miles of a cross-continent flight before meeting with disaster. The two young aviators are now at Mitchell field tuning up their air boat, and, according to advices to the air service here, the T-2 will be in ship-shape Monday. After that hop-off is dependent only upon the weather. The new flight, therefore, will be made in the face of the wind. Kelly and MacReady at Dayton, Ohio, recently smashed all existing world records by remaining continuously in the air for 36 hours, 4 minutes and 31 seconds. This time, they assert, is more than sufficient in which to span the continent. The T-2 carries 725 gallons of gasoline, divided into three tanks. Larger capacity oil tanks, reserve water tanks, an auxiliary radiator and an oil radiator are other features. A dual control permits the two pilots to relieve each other, and because of the extra load the wing and fuselage has been especially reinforced.
