LOCAL PLAYERS MAKE GREAT HIT LAST EVENING ANAHEIM Community Players scored a tremendous hit last evening at their first public performance, "Her Husband's Wife". Mrs. Harry Sears as Mrs. Stuart (Irene) Randolph, the ever alluring wife, had a presentiment that she was going to tie and out of kindness for her dear husband she sought her best friend, Miss Emily Ladew (Mrs. B. H. Sidnam) to consent to marry her husband after she had passed on. It is difficult to picture Mrs. Sidnam as the jilted old maid, she was ideal and the costume she wore was a stream. Gus Procott played the part of the husband. Clarence Chamberlain, as uncle John Belden, was the advisor of the family and particularly of Irene. Richard Belden, C. H. Clarke, brother of Irene, recognized Miss Ledew in his sister's home as the girl to whom he had been engaged over seas. Richard was up in the air when he heard that Emily was engaged. Irene opened her eyes when Miss Ladew chanced to meet her husband as he stepped from the train and quickly decided that she wasn't so ill and began to tell Miss Ladew that Stuart was a wife beater and a brute, and that he had poisoned their little poodle. Miss Ladew took it cheerfully and later told Richard of Emily's accusations. When Richard arrived home he found the house in a turmoil, and to make things worse, Emily went to her room and refused to come out. Uncle John told Richard the whole story of the affair and at the end he was much relieved to learn that Emily was not engaged. Stuart, disgusted at the whole affair, drank too freely and was insistent upon Delphian Chapter Meeting The monthly general meeting of the Delphian chapter of Anaheim will take place Tuesday, April 17, at 9:30 a.m. in the Elks club house. Mrs. H. H. Benjamin presiding. The program will be in charge of the supervisor, Mrs. Frederick R. Schiller. Members of the Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta groups will be the speakers. Topical reports will be given as follows: Roman diversions and amusements, Mrs. W. J. McAllister; Potapeli, Roman seaport, Mrs. H. G. Carlin, Temple of Vesta and Vestal Vergins, Mrs. Wm. Brasad; current events, Mrs. Jack Cole; play review, "The Green Goddess," W. Archer, will be presented by Mrs. H. H. Benjamin. Every member is urged to be present as there will be important business on hand and plans for next year's work to be discussed. Edison Club Social With plans of a mysterious nature all made for the entertainment of the Edison Social club tonight, Santa Ana committees are on tiptoe with enthusiasm and the visiting clubs, with expectancy, for the latter have been assured this will be the biggest affair of the many big ones. A baseball game was scheduled for this afternoon, open to the public, between Santa Ana and Whittier Edison employees, at which, among others, workers from the Laguna-Bell substation, largest terminal in the world, will be present. The evening will be devoted to dancing after the program, consisting of a group of vaudeville numbers. The entertainment committee is composed of George R. Barnett, George Gilmore, L.R. Reynolds and E.M. Gallie. GOLDEN GATHERY FAVOR IN A SETTING pink yellow Golden West club Mrs. B. J. Drewnoon. The living indeed with its able flowers and card tables, the pleasant while. Uncle John told Richard the whole story of the affair and at the end he was much relieved to learn that Emily was not engaged. Stuart disguised at the whole affair, drank too freely and was so insistent upon slinging "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean," that John and Richard carried him off to a far away corner of the room too sleep off the effects. Irene thought her husband was ill and desired to see him, but when told by Uncle John that he was resting, the play closed with "now peacefully be sleeps." The role of Nora, the maid, was played by Miss N. M. Owen.
