COAST DELPHIAN OFFICER GUEST AT LUNCHEON MISS ORAL WING, assistant Pacific coast director of the Delphian society was the honoree at a 12:20 luncheon given yesterday by Mrs. H. H. Benjamin, president of the local Delphian, at her home, 516 North Lemon st. Members of the executive and advisory boards of the society weare other guests, covers being placed for ten. The table was centered with a lovely cluster of rose colored tulips, and place cards furthered the color motif. Covers were laid for Miss Wing, guest of honor, Mrs. J. P. Brastad, Mrs. E. E. Smith, Mrs. William Goodrum, of the executive board, and Mrs. Praderiek A. Schiller, Mrs. C. P. Grim, H. M. White, Mrs. W. M. Hollingsworth and the hostess, of the advisory board, Mrs. H. D. Newkirk and Mrs. Benjamin. A business meeting followed the luncheon when plans for the future of the society were featured. Miss Wing gave her appreciation of the local organization in term of highest praise and mentioned that not a society in the state had presented any better programs during the past season. The Anaheim Delphian was organized last September and will conclude its year’s activities in June. The regular monthly general meeting will be held next Tuesday and it is the earnest wish of the president that every member be in meeting, the matters of the utmost importance will be presented. The chair will present a short outline of next year’s work and that everyone may hear directly from the chair, it is essential that all be present. Literary Section Thursday The Literary section of the Ebell club will meet Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Mrs. W. W. Manter, of Nursery-ave. Cars will be at the Colonial apartments, (the home of Mrs. F. R. Schiller, leader, at 1:45, for the accommodation of those who have no other plans for reaching the Manter home. Miss Elise Jeururun will give a book review of "The Cathedral," by Hugh Walpole; two selected stories will be presented by Mrs. P. G. Peck and Mrs. Thomas Lumsdon. A short sketch of Walford and a brief review of recent books will be contributed by Mrs. Schiller. All ladies are asked to be present at the appointed hour. W. F. M. S. this Week The Women's Foreign Missionary society of the White Temple will meet in the church parlors Thursday, April 2. The program is in charge of Mrs. William Snyder, Mrs. Paul Hester will present a chapter in the study book. It is quite possible that Mrs. Alfred Matthews, district resident will remain over from the branch quarterly meeting, over which she presides, to attend the local meeting Thursday afternoon. Back from Motor Trip Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Eaton, Santa Ana; Mrs. Alberta Andrews, Mr. Sam Whitaker, Anaheim, and Mrs. A. A. Smith returned last evening from a three days' motor trip to San Diego, Tia Juana and Coronado. They visited all places of interest in the locality, including La Jolla and Sunset Beach on the return journey. The weather was perfect and not the slightest motoring trouble. W. F. M. S. Entre Nous at Cards With the hostess committee composed of the Mesdames M. E. Canby, W. E. Duckworth, A. K. Dahl and W. E. Chambers, the Entre Nous, of the Anaheim Ebell club met in an interesting afternoon yesterday in Silks clubhouse. Ten tables were placed, scors going to Mrs. Wm. Jackson, first; Mrs. H. Jacoby, second and Miss Francesacks, third. Five hundred was the chosen game and the affair was one of the really delightful social afternoons of the month. Northern Motor Journey Mr. and Mrs. H.N. White returned Sunday evening from a week's motor vacation in Santa Barbara, Montecito, Ojai and other northern points. They enjoyed every moment of the outing and had a thrilling over the beauties of the country through which they passed. Community Luncheon Rev. J. H. Peters will be the speaker at the Community luncheon tomorrow, his topic to be "athletics". Miss Mildred Meissner will play two viola solos. The usual interesting hour is anticipated. Class Plans Affairs Miss Louis Garrison, 731 Zeyn-st., entertained the Sunday school class taught by Mrs.H.A.Johnson in the regular semi-monthly meeting at her home last evening. The business meeting occupied the early hours, and the later ones were devoted to fancy work and exchange of ideas on pleasant affairs in the planning. Among the nicest is the Mothers and Daughters banquet which will be given before long. Refreshment was served at the close of the evening. W.F.M.S.in Riverside The Woman's Foreign Missionary society of the San Diego district will hold the annual convention in Grace church, Riverside, Friday, April 13, where Rev.F.A. Leak is pastor. The meeting will be an all day openning at 9:30, continuing for the evening. A supper will be served at 6 o'clock to the young people and followed by a program of music and missionary talk by Miss Lydia Kellar, of China. Several members of the local societies are planning to be present. THE WOMAN'S PAGE OF THE PLAIN DEALER, APRIL 10TH, 1923 W.F.M.S.BRANCH IN QUARTERLY MEETING HERE The midyear meeting of the branch quarterly of Woman's Foreign Missionary society of the Methodist Episcopal church will be held Wednesday beginning at 9:25 a.m. in the White Temple, Anaheim. The day will devote to adults' work. In the evening a specially arranged rally will be conducted by Mrs. Alvin Ault. A 4 o'clock meeting for the children will be conducted by Mrs. Lulu M. Firey and Mrs. Belle Tedrick, including singing by the Anaheim King's Heralds and a reading by Miss Evelyn Magathan. Dinner will be served at noon and supper for the young people is set for 6:45. Duck Dinner Sunday Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Luce were host and Hostess at a duck dinner Sunday evening, their guests being Mrs. Mitth Craig, Elwood Craig, Clay Foster and Miss Edith Davis and the Luce family. Mr. and Mrs. Luce were genitals of Mrs. Craig in Los Angeles Saturday night at dinner, where they were joined by their son, Barney Hoyt, a student in the U.S.C. law department. Banquet to Winners Roal Neighbors of Anaheim and Fullerton will learn tonight which lodge has been victorious in the recent membership campaign when the report is read at the meeting in Fullerton. Rosewood, the local lodge, has 60 new members and the winning lodge will put on the initiatory degree work while the losers will pay the price with a banquet. Two new members were taken into the local order last night, although a large class is awaiting initiation. ENGAGEMENT OF YOUNG COUPLE TOLD AT.DINNER The engagement of Miss Bernice Nevin to Mr.Al Hillscher was announced last evening at a dinner partly given at the Hiltscher home on Romneya Drive. A bowl of forget-me nots was used as the center piece. Carnations and roses furthered the color motif. The after dinner hours were happily passed with music and dancing. The young folk did not tell the date of the wedding but stated it would be in the summer time. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs.Charles Nevin, parents of the honoree, Mr. and Mrs.Joe Hiltscher, parents of Mr.Hiltscher, Mr. and Mrs.Glen Patton, Miss Bernice Nevin and Al Hiltscher, June and Virginia Nevin, Ella Harker, Frieda Hiltscher, Messrs Johnny Lasch, Ambrose Neja, Jackie Nevin, PetcHarley and Max Hiltscher. The party toured Tla Junna, Old Town, Coronado and points en route. Like all Americans who are making the initial visit to the gaming houses of the famous Mexican resort, their amazement knew no bounds at the unlimited quantities of money bet and lost on races and machines. Class Box Social Friday The Daughters of Ruth of the First Christian Sunday school will give a box social at the tabernacle Friday evening at 7:30. Ladies are asked to all bring boxes. Entertainment, including a one-act play will be given. Everyone is invited. The proceeds will assist in the support of the Armenian orphan adopted by the class. Form Mah Jongg Club A crowd of Anaheim people interested in the fascinating game, Mah Jongg, have formed a club and will meet tomorrow evening with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stilwell, S. DINNER Buena Park News BUENA PARK, April 10 — (Spl.) — A number of young folks motored to Brea to attend the Christian Endeavor Rally held at the Brea grammar school Among the subjects under discussion was the state convention to be held at Long Beach Those to enjoy this interesting meeting were Eddie, Carl, Ernest and Lillian Basstady, Bertha and Mable Robison, Flarence Warren, Dee Calaway, Melvin Hilgenfeld, S. F. Hilgenfeld. The P.T. A. will meet at the school hall on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Earl Morris, the president of the Orange county congress of mothers, will be present at this meeting and will speak on the P-T. MUCH ACTIVITY AT EPISCOPAL CHURCH St. Michael's Episcopal church has set the date for the next supper and get-together for Friday, April 20, instead of this Friday, as formerly announced. The church has shown great activity in the Easter season. The Women's Guild has held all day meetings. The Women's auxiliary has raised contributions for Alaska and the proposed chapel at Fullerton. The Altar Guild has talked considerably of ecclesiastical art on the first Saturday of each month and has made improvements in the entry room. The choir rendered some very fine music Easter Sunday and has been enlarged by the addition of several new choir boys. The proceeds of the next supper will go for the vestments of the boys with some donations to make up the amount. The Sunday school has increased 25 per cent and plans to attend the big annual rally in Los Angeles Sunday April 22 The meeting will be held at St John's church, W. Adams and Figueroa.
