INTER
RETURN LECTURE BY SYRIAN PRINCESS
Anaheim is to have the opportunity of hearing again, one of the most noted lecturers on Oriental life on the American platform, who knows the history of her Syria like an open book. Princess Rahme Haider, a direct descendant of ancient Syrian kings, is a native of Damascus, a young woman of striking personality and has rare gifts of intellect and culture.
Born at the foot of Mount ebanon in the old city of Baalbek, she received her education at the American colleges at Beirut and Sidon and later took her degrees from some of our colleges here. She has been upon the lecture platform bringing to her American audiences life and customs of her native land—the Holy Land and land where life still goes on as it did 2,000 years ago.
Princess Rahme will speak at the Tabernacle Sunday evening at 7:20, on "Under Syrian Stars" one of her most famous and inspiring lecture recitals. The address is of the most interesting discussed in connection with the Orient for many years. To here her native land is the most beautiful but America is the most wonderful. Princess Haider has decided to make Hollywood her home for some time.
On this occasion the Princess will appear in her rich royal robe and will be ably assisted by her traveling companion and singer, Miss Lucille Burgess who will interpret the weird music of the Orient.
To Attend Luncheon
Mrs. Edward Bigelow and Mrs. George Tedrick will go to Los Angeles tomorrow to attend a luncheon party given in honor of Mrs. Alfred Matthews, of Berkeley, president of the Pacific Branch society, who is making her first visit to the south.
Interesting Entertainment
Under the auspices of the Men's class of the First Christian church, a program was given in the tabernacle last night to an appreciative audience.
The oldfashioned photograph album was the main feature, and the representation of the family and close friends of those days made an amusing portrayal. Thirty persons participated as Mrs. H. A. Fate of South Lenon-st., explained to Mrs. W. C. Stanford, of Fullerton, her guest, as she was entertained in the manner of the long ago.
Other delightful numbers were given by Mrs Glada Roman, of Santa Ana, read most ably three numbers and the Placentia orchestra, of saxophone, violin and piano, played several numbers.
The program was especially interesting, but as the attendance was not up to standard, it is proposed to give the entertainment again.
Luncheon and Bridge
Mrs. J. H. Ritchie graciously entertained nine ladies yesterday afternoon with a 12 o'clock luncheon and bridge party.
The luncheon table was pretty set with spring flowers and the color scheme was carried out in pink and green. Attractive place cards marked covers for the Meadamier John A. Riley, Evan White, O. D. Buzell, W. E. Nye, James Gaim, S. B. Pund, G. M. Webster, Leon Horowitz, all of San Bernardino and Alice Lasler, Los Angeles and hostess, Mrs. Ritchie.
The afternoon hours were merrily passed over the card tables with bridge.
