GIRL HAS ORIGINAL OF FLAPPER CATS
SAN FRANCISCO, March 31—It's the cat's collarure, the latest thing in flappers.
Chlorine in the cat. Chlorine is also the flapper. She is a flapper cat. She belongs to Miss Brunette Vanessi, popular vaudeville dancer, and even appears with her mistress on the stage.
Chlorine would be an ordinary alley cat if she were not a flapper. But in order to make her beautiful Miss Vanessi has given Chlorine a neck shave to make her hair look bobbed. She has rouged her lips, pierced her ears and given her earrings, and, as a finishing touch, has hung a beautiful jade necklace on Chlorine's shaved neck.
That's the meow's marcel.

STOCK MARKET DULL
NEW YORK, March 31. The stock market was dull and listless in today's half session and in the absence of any outside buying demand the bears centered their attacks on the speculative Net. With few exceptions prices gravitated to lower levels, though in most instances the losses were fractional.
The feature of the market was the pressure against the independent steel and the oil stocks. Pacific oil yielded 1½% to 4%. Pan-American and Standard oil also yielded fractionally.
Government bonds unchanged; railway and otherbonds were irregular.
Stock sales today totaled 248,300 shares; bonds $4,407,300.

FOOD GAMBLERS TAKE MILLIONS
BY GEORGE R. HOLMES
L. N. S. Staff Correspondent

It was stated here today by C. H. Huston, former assistant secretary of commerce, who resigned from the government service this month to accept the presidency of the World Commerce Corporation at a salary of $100,000 a year.

A crew masted schooner, flying helpless before a 52 mile northwest gate, was sighted 100 miles south of Virginia Beach today. The little vessel apparently had no signal flags aboard as she was flying the American flag up-sidedown.
Coast guard stations have been notified to try to take off the crew.
At noon the wind guage here registered 46 miles an hour and shipping in the harbor and roads is suffering. Several barges broke their moorings and were swept ashore.
There are not many of them. A few manipulators have accomplished the present situation."
There is no immediate remedy available. Consumption curtailed affords the only available methods of defeating the extortionists.
