MAXWELL DRIVEN 6 MOS.; NO REPAIRS Not a dollar for repairs since November, 1922, when he bought a Maxwell stock touring is the record reported yesterday by C. P. Christlance, north of Orange. Christianse swears by his 1922 car from every angle. It is as durable as its upkeep is cheap and it will behave well under strenuous conditions he says. Recently the owner drove 717 miles on a quart of oil after he had driven 4400 miles all told. This 717 miles includes the grade twice a day between Orange and the reservoir of the Anabein Union Water Company, driven over back and forth for weeks. Do you remember the rains of late last year? This same Maxwell between Puente and El Monte once encountered water up to the running boards and still kept going smoothly. Davis since has resignation has been temporary secretary, serving at meetings. The report isn’t official—yet. Now there is a membership drive on, started at the big meeting last week Friday in Pullerton, and if it is successful and Davis consents, he will come back. Formerly the work of keeping the membership in line belonged to Davis. In fact, he was secretary of all the various crafts. Circling about the word “Chevrolet” are approximately 100 spaces for globes, which will illuminate the store as well as the name of the car which the company distributes in Northern Orange County. Electric signs are still a rare in the city and the Taggart Company’s will make its showrooms more conspicuous than ever before. The new County dealers’ association as a whole is supporting the Orange County Division heart and soul, and a committee of 25 of them are working on the membership campaign. The Los Angeles Division has had wonderful success in building up its membership, according to President Harry Mason of the State organization, himself an Angeleno. President Harding is having the time of his life, sojourning down in Florida. He is playing with zest and with complete abandon. That way lies rest and recuperation. PREFER 'PIGGY BACK' TO 'KIDDIE COURT' Penn Vacuum Cup Tires Sell Well Theodore Roberts, one of the largest real estate owners in the city, purchased two Penn Vacuum Cup tires of Ruedy and Son for his Chandler car. The tires are 23x4 cords and in oversize. The oversize in this tire is larger than the ordinary oversize and also heavier. H. E. Ruedy purchased five 21x4 for his new Chevrolet coupe. G. A. Koontz bought a set for his Ford coupe. Present prices at the live little shop at 419 West Center street will remain unchanged for the rest of the week. The tire, well known for its extraordinary anti-skid qualities gained a national reputation two years ago when, during the annual convention of National Traffic Officers at San Francisco, a fire department auto was sent whirling about a corner at 25 miles an hour without overturning. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Golden spent Thursday night at their cottage at Laguna Beach. WANTED TO TOUCH OFF BIG SEA BOMB LONDON, Mar. 24—The world's greatest firecracker is ready for the match. When the English admiralty finds a man with nerve enough to set off the fuse with the question of what to do with the upturned Cruiser, Adriadne, sunk in the channel during the war, will be solved. A U-Boat sent the Adriadne down when she was steaming across the channel with a cargo of ammunition and 400 sea mines. Thirty-two English sailors died when the ship turned turtle. At low tide the keel almost breaks to the top of the sons and the danger to shipping is such that the bulk must be destroyed. How to do it is a poser. There is enough steel bound TNT on board to tear apart many a cruiser, but the ticklish job of linking up the mines and running the fuse to the surface is not exciting the job-hunting unemployed to action. VALUES ALWAYS TELL! SHREWD BUYERS, THOSE WHO WANT ONE HUNDRED CENTS IN VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR EXPENDED, HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT OUT ONE HALF OF THE LOTS IN PALOMAR TRACT They have readily seen that these quality building sites furnish the utmost in real value and, bought while available at present prices; present a wonderful opportunity for advance and profit. The remaining lots may still be had at original prices. An advance over present prices would be justified as each lot is actually and convincingly worth much more money, judged by any standard of values in the district. We are nevertheless maintaining the original low prices and will continue giving super-values until the last lot is sold. See Palomar Tract Today A naturally high and terraced site, absolutely free from water in extreme wet weather and with the advantages of rich soil and handsome, full gown shade trees. Visit Palomar Tract at the corner of South and Palm. Note the modern improvements being rapidly installed; compare with any building sites in the city; select your lot while they are available. Present prices at the five little shop at 419 West Center street will remain unchanged for the rest of the week. The fire, well known for its extraordinary anti-skid qualities gained a national reputation two years ago when, during the annual convention of National Traffic Officers at San Francisco, a fire department auto was sent whirling about a corner at 25 miles an hour without overturning. Ajax, Horse Shoe Tire Prices Good Today Yet The Ajax and Horse Shoe tires will remain unchanged in price today, but this may be the last day says Fred James, exclusive distributor or here. Some of the standard makes already have put out their new prices, says James, but the latter, like certain other dealers, refers to protect his trade until the last possible moment. The manufacturer is getting all of the benefit in most cases on this occasion from the rise in prices. This was not true before; when the hard-pressed retailer, buried under a competition which cut the field to pieces, hardly knew which way to turn to keep a balance. The better makes of tire now have passed the point where they need to lower the quality of their tires, and few if any of them have done so on their recognized brands, says James. LOBSTERS REST EASY AS SEASON CLOSES SAN DIEGO—California lobsters are resting easy. The open season closed Feb. 28. Lobsters are scarce in California waters, it is shown by the report of the local fish commissioner. Only 123,260 pounds were delivered to local markets. Mexican lobsters are still in danger, for the reason below the border remains open until March 31, perhaps longer. When in need, advertise in the Plain Dealer.
