Here's the automatic traffic cop which will be installed within a few days at Los Angeles and Center-sts in a demonstration, six months long if city council says so. Los Angeles has more than 30 busy corners controlled in this manner for several months and more of the devices are being installed. Anaheim has the distinction of being the first small city where such a demonstration has been made.
LOCAL BOXERS ON GATE CITY PROGRAM
Athletic Manager Billy Darnley is taking over with him for the Gate City club's weekly boxing show tonight the following boys: Joe Chaney, the local flahh, who meets Baby Gans, the Los Angeles whirlwind tar Baby; in the main event; Paul Wilkins and Tebby Montiya who box the semi-windup—Battling Doty who mixes with Young Shelter in the special event; Tex Jones who books up with Benny Jordan; Danny Hererra who meets Al Moody of "Horooo" and Pete Brown and Joe Hoskins who raise the curtain. Much is expected of the Chaney-Gans affair. Chanoy is in prime shape to make the tar baby step fast. Darnley will referee.

SHOULD KNOW P. O. CANDIDATES RATING WITHIN FEW DAYS
Anaheim should know within a few days something about the post-office appointment. This was the information today given Judge J. S. Howard, county republican central committeeman, Cong. Phil. D. Swing, here with the party of U. S. Senators and representatives.
Congressman Swing told Judge Howard he had phoned the civil service department just before he left Washington and was told the grading of Anaheim's candidates for the appointment would be mailed within a few days.

Delhi Fight Pavilion Reopened Last Evening
Before a fair sized crowd, Boyd Ellis reopened his Delhi fight pavilion last night after being closed for the winter. The show was about the average. Bright spots were the Battling Doty and Joe Kelly and Toby Montoya and Pete Coldido affairs. Doty won the verdict but Kelly gave him a battle. Doty knocked his man to the canvas for the nine count in the first round and had him about gone a couple of times in the second round and third, but Kelly, who has a real fighting heart, weathered the storm and was going strong in the fourth with Doty tiring rapidly. Toby Montoya gave Pete Golindo another artillery trimming in every round. Little Tobby is going better in every fight.
In the main event, Pinkey Mason of Seattle and Joo Grim of Huntington Beach mauled and slashed thru four rounds of tough infighting to a draw. It was not appleasing fight to watch but both boys were in earnest. Young Terry and Coe Gilmore of Wyoming also went to a draw after four rounds of clever boxing.
In the curtain raiser, Georgie Baker of Los Angeles and Benny Alfalfa, Van Nuys also went to a draw in a snappy affair.
Billy Darnley of the Anaheim Athletic club referred.

Recreation Specialist Speaker at Luncheon
The weekly community service luncheon was held yesterday in the Elks club with the usual good time and get together spirit. The speaker of the day was Miss Randall, recreation specialist, who is now conducting classes here in play leadership and is putting on the Community Fun night at the Elks club Saturday evening. Every grownup is welcome and there is no charge. Refreshments will be served. There will be a good program, community singing and game contests between the civic clubs.
Yesterday's luncheon was well attended. Little Aldine Huff gave an Old English dance and was so well received that she had to appear the second time. Mrs. Ruth Seitz was at the piano.
H. Easton Jenner gave two solos accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Seitz, one of his own composition, and he related a very interesting experience of the inspiration which lead him to compose the song. Mr. Cari Rohles will give a series of three or four talks on music and artists whom he has known and their way of living, at the Wednesday luncheon in the near future.
William Hankelman, charged with riding a train without having paid his fare, was sentenced to 30 days in the Orange county jail. He and Thomas Lacy were taken to Santa Ana this morning.

to May 16
April 16 to May 16
Here and throughout the country, this is Curtain Month—time for brightening up the home hangings after winter's long siege.
To help you with this work we have developed a special curtain service—you can send us any or all your curtains; we relieve you of all the trying labor which washing and drying curtains entails, and your curtains come back as daintily done as if you had supervised the work yourself.
You will especially like our method of drying. No hooks or pins in any form are used—your curtains come back with the edges straight and true, ready to hang, and without so much as a pinhole anywhere.
The cost of this service is most moderate. Phone us today and have us tell you all about it.

Sleuth Role Favorite
Of Herbert Rawlinson
When Herbert Rawlinson was a boy his greatest ambition was to be a detective. Not the type of police detective ordinarily depicted on the screen, but a master mind a Sherlock Holmes or a William Burns.
Even now, where Rawlinson to desert motion pictures for criminal detection, he would be unusually well qualified for the Secret Service.
His latest Universal starring vehicle, "Confidence," is coming to the United theater tomorrow.
Rawlinson has been known for several years as probably the best exponent of "crook" pictures on the screen. A dozen screen stories of the underworld have been successful largely because his performances in the leading roles carried them an understanding of the abnormal psychology of the crooks' world superior to that of the average actor.
In addition to "Confidence," Harry Carey will be shown in "Six Shooters Justice", said to be one of the most thrilling productions ever made by the popular star of fighting pictures.
Comes, Leo Ryan, Willard Sweet, Harvey White, and Leonard Lemke.
The Fullerton first team played Chaffee today. They are also scheduled to play the U. S. C. team tomorrow.

What will a driving rain do to your porch?
WATER will ruin the finish on most porch furniture. For moisture turns ordinary varnish white, and destroys its protecting surface.
If you value the appearance of your furniture, floors and woodwork—if you want to give them the lasting protection they need, let us supply you with Piteairn Waterspar Varnish. It never turns white. Its rich, faded-less lustre endures. It can't be harmed by driven-in rain or snow, leaky radiators or even scalding liquids. Free flowing—spreads far. Easy to apply.
We have also Piteairn Waterspar Colored Varnish and Enamel in eighteen attractive colors, as well as paints, varnishes and enamels, for any work you have to do. Tell us about the job and we'll provide you with the proper paint. See us to-day.
