Unusual Battle Scenes In Walker's Picture Built on more generous lines than any other production in which he has ever appeared on the screen, Johnnie Walker's latest and greatest starring vehicle "Captain Fly-By-Night" was revealed for the first time yesterday at the United theatre. Johnnie Walker, under the auspices of the Film Booking Offices of America, has arrived at last as a full fledged star. As the dashing and daring young patriot of olden California in the era of Spanish domination, about whose mistaken identity there revels a rush of events that culminate in a revolution, Johnnie Walker is at all times the buoyant, facile artist who seemingly revels in the atmosphere of old Spain. "Captain Fly-By Night follows a shittenous pace from the outset. There are duels, and hot loves and hates, intrigues and suspicions and bitter antagonisms and finally the revolt with tremendous battle scenes. The battle scenes are unusual in scope and development. The charging calvary, the puff-puff of musket fire, the panic of the natives, the sway of the tide of battle—all these combine to produce such thrills as theatregoers have rarely beheld on the screen. Others were tossed about in the wreckage of their homes as the storm swirled about the little town. Hours after the cyclone had passed, leaving death and destruction in its wake, little bands of half-clad townspeople struggled to repair the damage to their homes.
