Rev. Welts, the pastor of the Hawthorne Nazarene church was trying to help others there and while driving his car, with 4 passengers in it, he found he could not stop his car in time and the car drug them quite a distance causing a wreck of his machine overthrowing them out. Rev. Welts was cut on the back of his head and had to have several stitches taken, but was able to go home after regaining conscience, there were two ladies who were badly hurt. Rev. Welts used to be the pastor of the Pilgrim church at Olinda and lived there several years. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Scatchard and Mr. and Mrs. S. Patterson, all from Los Angeles, brought a delicious lunch and spread with Mrs. Crispen lunch and say you can imagine the rest. This all happened on Sunday. Mrs. Charlotte Logsdon was a La Habra visitor Wednesday on business. Misses Elizabeth Bailey and Edith Crispen, spent Saturday evening with Miss Ilo Willits in La Habra. Mrs. G. H. Middleton and son Plez were Fullerton visitors Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Kerin and daughter Nellie from the Stearns lease were 6 o'clock dinner guests of Mrs. Snavley's Monday. Rev. Sechrist and wife, were visiting friends in Long Beach Thursday. Mr. Ross R. Wood has accepted a position in Huntington Beach and will drive to and from for the present he is stopping with his uncle Mr. Snayley on S. Pomona-ave. Mrs. Sandman returned to her home in Santa Paula Thursday after several days' visit with her mother Mrs. Shaffer, who recently bought the beautiful Huddleston home on N. Cedar-st. Mr. A. L. Cone of Anaheim has purchased a home on S. Flower-st, Brea, and will move his family here in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. J. Bowers and daughter Milfred and Mr. Warren from Glendale were dinner guests at NEW JAPANESE AMBASSADOR AND WIFE ARRIVE AT SAN FRANCISCO Manisao Haniharo, former Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and recently appointed Japanese Ambassador to Washington arriving at San Francisco with his wife, enroute to the Capital to take up his new duties. Besides the young people, after the B. Bowle, motored to Whittier Sunday afternoon to attend the dedication of the New Nazarene Church. Mesdames C. A. Sullivan and A. V. Sullivan were Los Angeles visitors Monday. Mr. J. E. Allen from Chino has purchased the F. K. Perrine home on S. Orange-st and will move his family to Brea soon and live in it. Miss Gould gave a music recital for her pupils at Whittier Tuesday night in the annex of the 1st Methodist church. Several ladies from Brea were there. Mesdames A. V. Sullivan, J. H. Guagy, J. F. Schweitzer, Mr. and Mrs. Caulderwood, Dr. and Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Tutton and her mother Mrs. Morgan from Yorba Linda. Each gave several numbers. Rev. Miller gave a wonderful chalk demonstration at convention rally in Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Morris spent Wednesday and Thursday in Torrance with the latter's aunt, Mrs. Tuvers. Saturday evening a 6 o'clock birthday dinner was given by Mrs. A. B. Bowle in honor of her daughter Delia, now Mrs. Raymond Morris. She was the recipient of several beautiful presents from her parents and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Morris and little son Bobbie live in Yorba Linda. Mrs. H. Heartfield is with her daughter Mrs. J. L. Harbert of Fullerton for a few days. Mrs. Harbert underwent a minor operation at the Fullerton Hospital Wednesday, Dr. Stein in attendance. The community hate to loose such good citizens. Mr. Perrine thinks he will enjoy his new home. Mrs. A. T. Darling on S. Orange-st was taken to the Anaheim Hospital for a minor operation Tuesday. The Young People’s Society of the Nazarine church enjoyed a weiner bake in Chino Canyon last Friday night. There were four auto loads in the party. Rev. W. B. Corlett and wife and Mr. and Mrs. G. C. They were given something to read and decide what to do. Mr. Miller sang several appropriate songs and accompanied himself on his little organ. The house was well filled and several ministers and their wives from other churches were present at the meeting. A very pretty little surprise farewell party was given Tuesday evening in honor of one of the eighth grade pupils of Brea grammar school at the home of her teacher, Mrs. Marie Marsh on S. Walnut-st. The little honoree being Helen Redd who will leave soon for Fort Worth, Texas. Those present were Misses Martha Rutledge; Annabelle Sommons, Evelyn Harvey, Inez Morrison, Angeline Lacaza, Helen Heartfield, Gladys Paschal, over Dorthy Senn, Alice Winchel, Minnie Ortego, Dorris Woodard, Hazel Warfield, Lucile Brawley and Helen Reed. The evening was spent playing games and music. Refreshments served, of Cocoa, cake and ice cream. Helen’s classmates regret very much to loose her. Mrs. J. A. Laughlin, spent the week-end with her son, H. E. Clairborn and wife in Los Angeles. Sunday afternoon they motored over to Hollywood and viewed the Jap Bachelor Gardens which was a grand sight, on to Redondo for dinner and returned home via Long Beach, feeling that was a day that would be long remembered. Mrs. Lottie Vaughn of Oil Fields was a visitor in the Harry Winchel home Tuesday on S. Walnut-st. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Epla and daughter Mildred motored to Los Angeles Sunday, for the day. M. Chambers and wife spent Thursday and Friday in Long Beach on business. Mrs. J. F. Bergman and son Walter were Fullerton visitors Monday afternoon. Rev. W. B. Emerson is in the Community hospital, Santa Ana, suffering with a broken leg and numerous cuts and bruises, as the result of being struck by an automobile driven by Mrs. E. C. Howell of Santa Ana. The accident occurred Sunday afternoon near Fourth and Main-ats., Santa Ana, as Ralph was attempting to cross the street. Mrs. C. B. Henry and Mrs. E. M. Hunt were joint hostesses at a delightful party held at the C. B. Henry home Wednesday night when the art and craft section of the civic club and their husbands were most royally entertained. Progressive "500" formed the principal entertainment, followed by delicious refreshments. The Father of His Country offered the decorative motif, this being carried out in the tally cards as well as in the dainty favors, consisting of miniature cherry trees, little axes, cherries and cherry trees recalling the birthday of the illustrious Washington Prizes for the holders of high scores were awarded E. R. Stilens and Mrs. Harry Elmore, while the consolation prize as usual went to Vernon King. About thirty guests were present. Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
