TEACHER BUYS CERRO VILLA GRAVE The C. B. Berger company has sold a grove in Cerro Villa Heights to Miss Olga Johnson of Fullerton. Miss Johnson teaches in the junior college at Long Beach, but comes from an orange growing family, her parent having owned an orange grove in Fullerton for years. Anaheim people who are interested in the development of the Santa Fe Springs property of the White Star Oil Syndicates are now enjoying the preliminaries to the bringing in of the famous White Star Well No. 2, said to be one of the very few independent wells located on proven property within the Meyer producing zone, so named from the 400 foot layer of oil sand which over 20 wells have penetrated to date. The largest and greatest gusher well of this field is located on property approximately 450 feet from White Star well No. 2, and is reported flowing $5,500 barrels daily of 25 gravity oil. The production is coming from the Meyer sand, from 4203 feet to 4509 feet, and is said to be absolutely clean oil, worth $1.45 per barrel. Other unusually large wells have been brought in in this section within the last week to ten days, and include the 6800 barrel Koontz, the Petroleum Midway's Mattern, doing 9000, the Donley, reported between 9000 and 10,000, as well as others. New production is expected to be added to the field's total within three weeks, when White Star No. 2 is completed. This well is now preparing to drill through the cement at 4196 feet. The company's No. 3 well is said to be about ready for the cement job above the Bell Sand. As all the White Star wells are ticketed to go to the Meyer zone, local people are awaiting the date of production with keen interest. The White Star concern is represented in Orange Co. by Messrs. Jordan & Martin, at the Valencia Hotel, Anaheim. Henry Stewart of San Diego, passing through Toronto on his latest cross continent hike. Stewart passed through Toronto 13 years ago and has been on the road practically ever since. In the leading feminine role is Marjorie Daw playing the daughter of a miserly old miner. William Walsh plays the miner. COW MAKES RECORD California Agnes Colantha, a Holstein cow in the herd at the University Farm Davis, set a record for cows bred on the farm completing a record for the year just ended of 26,250 pounds of milk, containing 981 pounds of butterfat, equivalent to 1227 pounds of butter, according to official reports just released. This remarkable record places Agnes Colantha third among the cows owned by American universities and colleges. Mermaiden's Farm, a Jersey, is another cow to make records, having performed her duties for the University Farm for many years. She was born 13 years ago, has given the farm nine calves, eight heifers and one bull, and during nine milking periods, has produced 10,000 gallons of milk and 5500 pounds of butterfat. Her milk products have brot in $1650 to the college. FABLE OF A FLIVVER Once upon a time a Flivver, having listened to the siren voice of its own rattle, developed a Superiority Complex. At a certain time each afternoon a Freight Train was accustomed to flutter past, making a great uproar as it went. And the Beasts of the Field and the Motor Cars of the Road stood aside as it passed, registering great reappet. "Where does it get that Noise?" murmured the Flivver, being consumed with envy. And one day the Flivver, being in particularly good voice and all hoped up with pride, said: "I will show that big stiff where he gets off at." Whereupon he stopped up to the Crossing and slapped the Freight train on the nose. That's all—Los Angeles Examiner. EVEN FIND STYLES IN TOMB If we are to believe the powers that be in the dress and furniture world, we stand at a new style epoch. The contents of the tomb of an Egyptian monarch, dead over three thousand years are being brot to light, and the fashions of a world at the edge of history will have their influence in the dress and furnishings of homes in modern times. Style changes are not mere paprices. Rather they bear the imprint of a period in a nation's history and thus them the progress of history may be traced. This is being illustrated in the reported mad rush designers and milliners are making to get the first designs from the new found reliess of an early age in the world's history. Grimsby, England, where tradition says the Danes first landed in their invasion of Britain, is now a famous seaport. Corn or any material rich in carbon may be used for a burning bed over which a steam jet is blown and a gas generated while the vehicle is in motion, to run an English motor truck.
