RARE TALENT, IN MUSIC PROGRAM BEFORE EBELL
A MUSICAL program of modern music of high order was given yesterday before the Anaheim Ebell club, Mrs. Arnold Peek, Miss Mabel Woodworth and Mrs. Ollieme Enlow Mathews contributing the program.
And not the least of the music was the community singing, led by Mrs. G. Herbert Goodale, when "America, the Beautiful," and, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" were enthusiastically sung. The usual business routine preceded the program during which hour the new year books were distributed. Reports from all the sections were card, which shows the activity to be greater than ever before in the club's history.
The ladies parlor in the Elks club was crowded to 15 at most and the audience showed its appreciation by the hearty applause and undivided attention. The numbers included a two piano rendicton, "Phantase," Mozart-Greg, by Mrs. Peek and Mrs. Woodworth, who kindly responded with two encores.
The violin solo by Mrs. Mathews, "So Rosingnel," Alabeiss, and in which Miss Woodworth played the piano accompaniment, was marvelously played. The group of numbers on the two pianos, by Mrs. Peek and Miss Woodworth were "Le Sceir," Chaminade; "Gavotte," Musette, Rasa; Walta in A Major, Brahms-Hockstein, and the violin group then rendered by Mrs. Mathews included Andante, from the opera, "A Violin Maker of Cremona," Hubay, and Los Farfuclets, Puente, and to which Mrs. Mathews graciously acknowledged her appreciation of the applause by giving an enchore.

Professor and Mrs. James A. Shearer, who will give an organ and voice concert at the White Temple Thursday night, $ o'clock, are closing a nine months concert tour.
Mr. Shearer was organist of the Glasgow Art Galleries and is a member of the Royal College of Organists, London and of the Royal College of Music, London. Mrs. Shearer has studied in Manchester, England and Brussels, Belgium. She has a soprano voice of great dramatic power and natural beauty an doing with remarkable smoothness and perfect articulation.
The concert Thursday night is free to the public but a silver offering will be taken, one-half of which will go to the purchase of chairs for primary department of the White Temple Sunday school, Mrs. J. K. Langdon, superintendent. The little tots coming to this department have become so numerous that more chairs must be purchased. So the patrons of the concert will have an enjoyable musical evening and also help a good cause.
PRETTY SECRET TOLD TO FRIEND OVER TEA CUPS
THE announcement of the engagement of Miss Lucille Davis, of Los Angeles, to Mr. John Wilson, of Anaheim, was the occasion for two very pretty social affairs. Miss Davis was hostess at tea to twelve girl friends in the Peacock room of the Mary Louise Tea Shop, Saturday afternoon. The novel method of quaintly gowned tiny maids, carrying French bouquets, on which was inscribed "Luelle-John," was employed, these favors being found at each cover.

To Mend for Soldiers
Truly, Wednesday will be mending day, in the run of household affairs, for on tomorrow the Legion Auxiliary will meet in the club rooms to mend—all day long. The ladies are putting used clothing in condition to give the ex-service invalida in the hospital n Camp Kearny, which, along with candies, jellies, and jams an other goodies, and a liberal quantity of "smokes," will be delivered next Sunday when a journey to the hospital will be made.
More clothing of all kinds for men will be acceptable, as well as any contributions of fruits and spreads. The boys in the hospital are highly appreciative of all that is done for them by the Auxiliary and any assistance given the Auxiliary is deeply appreciated by the members.
A pot luck luncheon will be served at noon at tomorrow's meeting and the Legion men have promised to be on hands to "flatter the cooks." Hot coffee will be served.
If anyone has used garments which are usable, phone Mrs. Wilson, 357-J and they will be called for. Any contributions of sweets and fruits are also acceptable.
Entertain for Easterner
Mr. and Mrs. Win Trapp, Sr., entertained Sunday in their beautiful home east of Anaheim, several of their friends from Los Angeles. A amputuous mid-afternoon repast was prepared by Mr. Trapp and the remainder of the time was passed with music and games and in talking over old times.
The guests included Mr. and Mrs. H. Guillock and daughter, Helen; Mr. and Mrs. R. Irwin and daughter, Else; Mrs. Smith, mother of Mrs. Irwin. The gathering was in honor of Mrs. Kate Schneider, of Chicago, sister-in-law of Mrs. Trapp, and Miss Mary Herbert, cousin of Mrs. Schneider, from Downers Grove, Ill.
Union to Elect Officers
The Women's Union of the Calvary Baptist church will hold an all-day meeting at the Spanish Mission, Hefena and Chestnut, Thursday, March 8. All annual reports of the officers will be read at the business meeting in the afternoon and officers elected for the coming year. An interfeeding missionary program has been planned.
A short play will be given by some of the members and Miss Hawley, a missionary at San Pedro, will give a talk. A pot luck luncheon will be served at the noon hour.
The executive board will act as hostess.

Neighbors of Woodcraft will hold the regular meeting tomorrow afternoon with Mrs. Eva Boyd, 129 South Olive Street. The meeting will open at 2:30.
Club Section Meeting
The History and Travel Section of Ebell club meets tomorrow afternoon with Miss Kate Rea, at her home at 2 o'clock.

STARTING in on her second decade,
Miss Cecelia Lenain was honored with a pretty birthday party yesterday at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. A. Hortado, 312 West Broadway. Fourteen guests were present and the girls had a jolly afternoon with games and contests. Among the funny stunts was pinning the tail where it belonged on the donkey, in which Miss Frances Quarton was successful and Miss Claire Lenain wandered farthest from the proper location. Both received prizes.
Flowers decked the rooms and the table where delicious refreshment was served, topped off with the lovely birthday cake. The cake had eleven twinkling candles which Miss Cecelia blow out with ease, which they say, noicates skis will be never be looh.n., (left on mother's hands).
Pretty favors were at each cover, which were laid for the young Miss Bernice Kroeger, Lucille Smith, Alice Ferris, Agnes Messenger, Alma Ruth Show, Mary Show, Bernardina Bastain, Florence Delhel, Eva Lehr, Stella Meyer, Cecelia Detrich, Frances Quarton, Verena Baum, Claire Lenain and the honoree.
She was assisted by her mother, Mrs. M. A. Lenain, in entertaining her friends, most of who were schoolmates in St. Joseph's academy. She received many pretty gifts in honor of the day.

Miss Esther Pember, one of Anaheim's popular brides-elect, was the honored at a cleverly arranged party given by the pupils of her Sunday school class. Miss Pember was invited to spend the afternoon with Mrs. George Tedrick and upon her arrival there was greeted by a bevy of girls. She was presented with a veritable shower of towels.
A delicious luncheon was served late in the afternoon. Present at the happy affair for Miss Pember were the Missen Lots Dunham, Vida Sutherland, Marjorie Latourette, Lillian Wagner, Riva and Ruth Potter, Evelyn Magathan, Ruth Davis, Marie White, Lorraine Williams, Charlyn Tedrick, Helen Reinherl and Mrs. George Tedrick.

The Buena Park Woman's Club will meet at the home of Mrs.Charles Preston at Tustin on Friday, March 9th, to celebrate the thirty-fourth anniversary of the club.The club was formerly called the Ladies Mutual Aid Society and originated when a number of ladies called at the home of a sick neighbor to sew for her.Here were five members in the society at that time.
Mr. and Mrs.J.L.Tyler of Huntington Park were guests of Mr. and Mrs.L.T.Winey on Saturday.
Mrs.Lawrence Tilton was a Los Angeles shopper on Saturday.
Mrs.Frank Smith and son Bobbie motored to Anaheim on Saturday afternoon.
Miss Roman of Los Angeles will give a program at the school hall on Friday evening under the auspices of the Parent-Teachers Association.
Miss Roman will furnish the program for the entire evening and half the proceeds will be turned over to the P-T.A.The ladies of the P-T.A.A will have a booth where home made candles will be sold.
Mr. and Mrs.Harvey Calaway and Miss Hilda Calaway were Anaheim shoppers on Saturday.
There will be two new subdivisions opened in the near future.W.E.Gernart is making plans to subdivide his acreage on the east side of Grand avenue between the Park and Northam station.The average belonging to Mr.Pryor on the corner of Grand and Oranghorpe will also be divided into residential lots.H.S.Horn has sold two lots on Grand avenue to Herbert Hunt from La Habra and Albert Moon of the Park.

A short sketch of the life of Romain Rolland and a talk on recent books by Mrs. Schiller, will bring the program to a close. All members of the Ebell club are cordially invited to come. The meeting will start promptly at 2 p.m.

ANAHEIM’S TALENT ON AIR THURSDAY
Anaheim will have a one-hour radio concert Thursday, March 8, to be broadcast from the Santa Ana Register, K F A W, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program was selected by Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, under the direction of George E. Johnson, of the Chamber staff, himself an enthusiastic radio expert.
It will be noticed from the program published in full below, that Anaheim has responded nobly to Mr. Johnson’s call on behalf of the Chamber. In the five minutes allowed for a brief sketch of Orange Co., and Anaheim, considerable notice will be included regarding the plans for the third annual California Valencia Orange Show, to be held here May 22-30, inclusive.
Reports show that the Register concerts are being heard in all parts of North America, and this affair promises to give Anaheim more publicity than any other “wheeze” attempted in several months. Getting before every radio fan on the western slope and in many eastern states, this offering will carry its message faithfully for Amerieks Community Choral Club, and the undoubted talent outside that artistic and influential organization, including Anaheim Conservatory of Music and high school building talent that is sure to make its mark, with increasing opportunity of appearing before such grand audiences of the air as Thursday’s concert will command.
Those Elks who have no radio sets, can hear this concert at Anaheim Elks’ Club. Not less than fifty Anahelmers have given up this hour to go to the Register office at Santa Ana Thursday and put on this program:
