THRONGS TO
JAM PARKS
THIS YEAR
It's no joke, this "seeing America first" business, according to messages now being received at the Auto Club of So., Calif. from various National Parks of America.
Park superintendents are getting all "het up" about the number of auto owners who are going to pour into such big play grounds as the Yellowstone, Glacier, Sequoia, Grant and Yosemite National Reserves right after the thaw sets in. One Park superintendent, Albright of Yellowstone, says that he expects 125,000 people there this year. This would be 25,000 more than visited Yellowstone last year.
It is not unusual, says the Auto Club for hundreds of motorists in this part of the state to begin planning their summer trip as early as March, and the club touring bureau is preparing a whole lot of first hand information on road conditions leading to the National Parks throutout America. It has been found that in order to complete a successful trip of some distance, the motorist should begin CASINGS AND TUBES UP
12 PER CENT BY APRIL 1
Another jump of 12 1-2 per cent on standard makes of tires will be put into effect between March 15 and April 1, according to F. S. Dunlap, who received word to that effect today. A jump of 10 per cent on repair materials is announced at once. The advance on casings will make an aggregate higher price of 25 per cent since the first of the year.
AUTO CHIEFS LAUD CERTIFIED MARKET
Two men well known in the motor car industry, F. E. Monkovics, general manager of the Nordyke-Marion company, and C. A. Musselman of the Auto Trades Journal made a special trip to Orange county recently to confer with the automobile dealers about the methods they are using in the operation of the new public markets for selling and buying used cars.
They had heard about the plan before they reached the coast, and as they anticipate the widespread adoption of it as soon as other communities learn of the benefits derived, they desired to be in a position to

It has been found that in order to complete a successful trip of some distance, the motorist should begin to lay his plans at least a month or two before he starts out in order to avoid startling emissions in his commissary or bad break in his itinerary.
One thing about the big flow of auto travel to the National parks this year will be the probable effect it will have on the improvement of roads within the park boundaries. A lot of auto owners returning from trips to the National play grounds last year made the statement that the routes leading to the gates of the parks were in splendid shape, but that the roads inside the big reserves were not.
Franklin Deliveries In Volume Shortly
The Franklin factory now is on a producing schedule of 65 cars per day and the only thing that is delaying装ments of cars is that the railroad on whose side the factory is, the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western, has an embargo in favor of coal.
So declares E. B. Miller, factory representative, who was in town yesterday calling on the Bob White Co., Franklin and Nash distributors. Sixty per cent of the output from Feb. 15 to April 15 will be closed cars. Miller is touring Southern California for his company.
The proportion of closed Franklin naturally is high. Miller pointed out, because all but one model of the Franklin is closed. There are two sedans, two-door and four-door, a demi-sedan, coupe and sport brougham. The latter is a brand new model and will not be out in volume until April.
DAYTON THOROBRED GOES 31,000 MILES
C. J. Nenno, formerly Nenno & Bock, is displaying a Dayton thorobred tire which has seen service of 31,252 miles and still is a respectable looking piece of wheelwear. The tire came off a car belonging to A. D. Catterlin of the Banta Company, formerly Weinstock-Nichols Co., of Los Angeles. It is a 33 by 4 and was used on a Dodge car.
Nenno has taken on the Harvey spring, which is absolutely gauganted against breaking or sagging. If the spring does either it is replaced entire, free of charge. Owners who have had to pay sizable bills for new leaves in their springs are invited to look at these springs.
Replacements are made by Nenno on practically all the popular makes of car and truck, the spring being made especially for individual cars. Nenno has the exclusive distribution in and about Anaheim and can make a price as low as any in the metropolis.

EDDY TO TAKE UP
TOP, BODY BUILDING
Beginning Tuesday next, Eddy's Auto Palat and Top Shop will be equipped to turn out anything from a broken bow in a top frame to a complete sedan or town car body. Eddy announces. The proprietor is installing wood working and metal work of any kind. He has secured the services of Carl Yeager as superintendent of this department. Yeager has had years of experience in such work. He formerly was connected with the Gould Top Co. of San Francisco and until he signed with Eddy was with the Earl C. Anthony Co. in Los Angeles.
Eddy has been unusually fortunate in his men. Charles Ahlstrom and Forrest Wright in the trimming department are former foreman in the trimming department of the Packard company. The fact that 800 jobs were turned out in the first year of business just closed Eddy attributes to the excellent mechanics in his force.
Work this week include sliding glass tops on Studebaker specials, delivered to Harry D. Riley of Anaheim and to C. M. Dunn of Santa Ana.

A "Ten Dollar Battery" Will Cost You?
It's safe to say that most of 'em cost twenty dollars or more before the year is out.
But for $22.80 you can get a Willard—wood-insulated, perfectly constructed, thoroughly reliable—a battery you can depend on.

Oldest Automobile Electrical House In Anaheim
(By the Mysterious Cowboy)
THEY are known as the Nu-Way Tire Co., and they append the application to the name of their house—"Prolongers of Tire Life."
And both are true, they do things in a new way, in a most efficient manner and their workmanship has proven, again and again, that they actually given a longer life to the automobile tire.
For the tire, it is the home of the fountain of youth, no matter how senile, how bent and aged the Nu-Way system will give renewed life and continued usefulness.
Is it any wonder that this concern should be so expert and offer such a panacea for the lilies of run down tires As if to lend greater claim to their competency, we find the name of Dunlap connected with this establishment. Mr. F. S. Dunlap—a name familiar to the tire world from its earliest beginning—is one of the partners and Mr. Charlie Flannery is the other who does his part in the Nu-Way treatment. Both are highly skilled in their profession and at the fine shop at 327 S. Los Angeles st., the auto owner in need of tires or of tire repair will find their service and their system of much use to his auto and of great satisfaction to himself.
Look about you, any place in the city or the country, for business activity or into every day life or social doing, and after having so observed it will be noticed at once that the automobile is the first and last impression of almost every thing and action. It is every place and it seems to be almost paramount in every function of business or in every move toward pleasure or general usefulness. Without it our whole civilization would collapse as the greater part of our daily life is dependent upon it. That being the case the automobile must be given the shoes, so to speak, to get about and thus to fulfill its indispensable place in our lives. This means that tires must be mended, retreaded, vulcanized and looked after, just as we would protect our shoes from deterioration. It means, further, that the auto must be supplied with new shoes—with new and competent tires. To do these things is the mission of the Nu-Way Tire Co., and they have the system and organization to measure up the job. Their latest process for re-rubbering is most efficacious, inexpensive and appreciated. They are the cobblers to the auto and their stocks and service offer a service which the wise autolist cannot afford to overlook. They are exclusive agents for such great tires as Firestone, Oldfield and Norwalk. They sell the best tubes and they deal in
Set of Kellys Per Day Walter's Record
R. T. Easton, well known dairy-man this week bought another complete set of four Kelly Springfield kant-slip tires from S. R. Walter of the Anaheim Vulcanizing Works. The tires were for his new Ford truck. Last week Easton purchased a set of four Kellys for his car.
This week's purchase was the third of a complete set during as many days, says Walter. The tires were put on in time to cope with the slippery pavements after Thursday afternoon's rainfall.
Kelly tubes went with the tires, also, says Walter.

BRUNSWICK TIRE
J. H. Zirkle of Topeka, Kansas, drove into the city recently on Brunswick cords which had carried him all the way here, to say nothing about Oregon and Northern California, without a mishap. The tires still look like 10,000 miles, says Daniels & Williams, local distributors. Zirkle bought an extra 34 by 4 tire of the firm. He is now on his way home.
Clyde Williams points to the fact that trucks are more and more using Brunswick tires as evidence of their stability. It is a well known fact that the heavier the load, the more easily a tire goes to pieces if driven even at normal speed; to say nothing about the legal speed limit.
Brunswicks are holding up everywhere. The demand for the Brunswick in Northern Orange County is mounting steadily.

WILLARD FOUR YEARS
After using his Willard threaded rubber battery for four years and four months, A. B. McCord, cashier of the Anaheim National Bank and president of the Kiwanis club has purchased another Willard of A. Bevillard of the Anaheim Ignition Depot.
McCord is only one or two dozen or more local men who have been using the Willard for several years without the instrument rebuilt.

YUCCA PICKERS,
BEWARE, BEWARE!
There is a lot of trouble in store for motorists who pick Yucca blooms this year, according to a warning just issued by the Auto Club of So. Calif.
According to Los Angeles County Forestry Department officials, the Yuccas are just coming into bloom on the hills of the southern part of the state and will be more wonderful the authorities are going to be more strict in arresting motorists who pick them.
Every auto party which is found by Forestry officials in Los Angeles county carrying a Yucca bloom in the car will be arrested without question at once, according to S.J. Flintham of the Forestry department.
Other counties in the southern part of the state are at this time considering ordinances making the picking of Yucca blooms a misdemeanor.
In Los Angeles county there is a law prohibiting the cutting of Yucca stalks in the hills. It is pointed out that the huge Yucca blooms when picked wilt and fade within a very short space of time and are useless for decorative purposes. This fact has not deterred motorists, however, from picking the flowers in the past, but now the long arm of the law is going to reach out and do a little deterring on its own account, says the Auto club.
IS NEW ASS’N FIGHTING A.T.A.?
The Orange County Motor Car Dealers' Association, which is operating the two used car markets at Santa Ana and here and plans to open one at Fullerton, seeks to become a general organization and replace the Orange County division of the State Auto Trade Association. This was learned on reliable authority this week.
Furthermore, Earl Matthews, former head of the county division of the state organization; has been elected president of a new association, the Orange County Batterymen's Association, which apparently has taken over the functions of the batterymen's craft of the division.
"Why should Orange County help pay a fat-salary to Bob Martland in Oakland?" asked the prominent dealer who furnished the information.
"What we want is a local association."
The fact that George Dunton who is still Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor here and this week took over Knox & Stout, the Santa Ana Ford, Fordson and Lincoln agency,
IN LINCOLN PARTS ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE
Lincoln parts have been standardized so as to make possible the same service at all Ford dealers' garages as that given to Fords, George Dunton, Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor says, in expalting the policy in regard to the Lincoln. At the same time, greater accuracy, of course, is maintained in construction of the Lincoln than in that of the cheaper motor vehicles.
Pointing to another feature of Lincoln service, Dunton displayed a copy of the Lincoln, a periodical issued every month or two and distributed free to all automobile fans interested. Gotten up in the finest cameo plate paper, with plenty of illustrations, this is one of the finest productions of the printer's art seen on dealers' tables hereabouts in a long while, and contains much timely matter.
WHO WILL GET PAIGE, JEWETT?
"Paige" and "Jewett" this week were painted out of the front and sides of Hubbell & Winmor's big shop at North Los Angeles and East Orypress-ata, and "Cleveland" and "Chandler" will take their place. The trade is wondering who will take in the two former cars.
The firm is meeting with considerable success in marketing both of the new cars. The Chandler contains the new Pike's Pek motor, named from the fact that it was built especially to conquer this, one of the worst climbs in America.
