TRUXAN HOME IS SCENE OF JOLLY AFTERNOON PARTY MRS. J. W. TRUXAW entertained a large party of friends at hot pretty home on So. Los Angeles-st. yesterday afternoon. The elaborate decorations were suggestive of Washington's birthday. Cherry trees with miniature axes and flags were artistically used for decorations. Spring flowers also lent their charm. Bridge was the pastime of the afternoon. High score was made by Mrs. Leonard Evans; second, Mrs. Percy Rust, and low, Mrs. Oscar Heyling. A dainty luncheon followed the games. Dine at Ranch Home Mrs. Harriet K. Boyd and Mrs. A. A. Smith were dinner guests last evening at the Andrews ranch on Garden Grove road. The evening was made more entertaining with enjoying Harry Lauder records on the victrola, as Mrs. Andrews and her guests had been members of a party which heard one of the Lauder concerts in Los Angeles during his recent appearance there. Plain Dealer Want Ads Get Results Day of Prayer Friday The annual meeting and day of prayer for missions will be held at the First Presbyterian church Friday, Feb. 16, at 2:30. This will be a union meeting of the various churches of the city. A fine program, consisting of music, with missionary speakers from Home and Foreign fields, and other interesting numbers has been prepared. An offering for Missiones will be taken. A most cordial invitation is extended to all the women of Anaheim. Box Special at Cypress There will be a box social in Cypress grammar school on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 22. It will be given by members of the Eighth grade and the proceeds will be used for a Victrola fund. The committee in charge is composed of Miss Blanche Cawthon and Calvert Norlin. The incentive for the affair was the regular meeting of the Bankerets club and the girls brought their husbands and friends. And such were the costumes—Ming Toy and her China-nan, hula hula girl, Spanish cavallier, gypsy girls, yama yamii girls and boys, pirates and even the wild men from Borneo. The rooms were attractively decorated with calentine features. The lights were covered with red paper, giving a pretty lightning effect in the room. Games were played and later dancing was the enjoyment of the evening. Punch was served during the hours and late in the evening ice cream and cake were served. Enjoying the hospitality at the Schellens home were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bacon, Val and Hans Larsen all of Hollywood, Otto Pick, Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. James, Miss Ida Ehman, Olive, Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Club Sees Nice Program The Community club of Cypress and Hansen held a delightful meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Irene Counts, when she and Mrs. Thomas Walker were joint hostesses. The Valentine motif was furthered in table decorations, cover and napkins. A luncheon of sandwiches, fruit and salad, cake and coffee were served at 4:30. As usual topics of the ay were discussed, Mrs. Chandler gave a very clever reading and little Miss Louis Counts, ten-year-old daughter, gave several pretty too dances. The little girl is training for a professional dancing career and is well on the way to perfection already. The remainder of the time was passed over conversation and fancy needlework. Through the absence of Mrs. Win Abplanap, president, and Mrs. John Kester, secretary, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. LeLute acted in those respective capacities. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dugan and Mrs. Lough drove over from Long Beach for the meeting. Other members present were the Mesdames W. J. Cole, Paterson, Peters, Turfton, H. Hammond, Dancer, O. P. PLACENTIA PLACENTIA, Feb. 14,(Special)—The contract for the construction of new packinghouse to be erected here for the landolph marketing company was let to Clayton H. Lanureta of La Habra and Placeenta. This is in accordance with a SUPPER AND CAKE MARK MILESTONE FOR MRS. R. IVANS A SURPRISE party which started with a beautiful supper and continued when a company of friends and relatives came in for the evening hours made Mrs. Roy Ivans, of Santa Ana, a very happy honoree. The generous use of jongquils and other fragrant flowers gave a cheery spring tone to the home. An elaborate menu was served with a gorgeous Birthday cake. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ivans and daughter Blanche, of Santa Ana; Mr. Ivans, Sr., also of the county seat; Merle and Joe Anlauf, of Santa Paula, who were surprise guests, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gates. After supper the family was joined by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gates, Mr. and Mrs. I. Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scott, of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Mauerhan and Jack and Marie.Games of many and amusing kinds and music made choice entertainment features.Epecially enjoyed was the original sketch concerning the dolings of the family,the characteristics of several of the members,and in all a most amusing summarywhich was the contribution of Mrs.Mabel Gates. Another fun-producing "stunt" was owerding from a blind menu,and when the orders were filled they proved to be a burlesque However,a real spread was served later in the evening. Mrs.Ivans was presented with many tokens of love for her anniversary and received many messages of congratulations using the day. Mann PLACENTIA, Feb. 14, (Special) The contract for the construction of new packinghouse to be erected here for the Randolph marketing company was let to Clayton H. Landreut of La Habra and Placentia. This is in accordance with a policy consistently followed by the Randolph company of giving the preference in all cases to local men; materials have already been ordered and actual construction will be started as soon as the weather permits. The Randolph packinghouse will be located east of and adjacent to the Santa Fe station and will be of frame construction with the exterior walls of stucco. The roof will be of the saw-tooth type, providing the maximum amount of natural light evenly diffused through the building. This new structure, located one of the most prominent available sites in Placentia, will be an attractive and substantial addition to our commercial district. The machinery for the new packinghouse, which will be installed simultaneously with the completion of the building proper, will include two double sizers, a forty-foot four run at dryer and separator. Ample provision is being made for future extensions to both building and equipment as the increase in volume handled may demand contractor Landreth and his men are busy on the new Pugh-Cline plant near Norwalk. Hurry Tubbs has purchased the en-acre valleys ranch on Caroline avenue known as the Smith's ranch. The ranch adjoins the tenac ranch which the Tubbs family for several years and where, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tubbs have lived when not at their Pasadena home. The ranch is in full bearing and a fine piece of property. The owner was a Pasadena man and had never lived here. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mason and family from Honolulu took up their residence at the ranch home several weeks ago. Alfred B. Miner, formerly employed by the F. P. Taggart Co., of Fullerton, has opened a sub-agency for Chevrolet cars here last week in the Mission Garage. Two salesmen, William Lester and McFadden are employed and are authorized to sell cars anywhere in the county. They are prepared to take used cars in trade for the new model Chevrolet.
