BEGIN WORK UPON PLACENTIA PAVING Paving of Placentia ave from the State highway near the County Hospital to the Anaheim-Olive road beams yesterday. Six-inch concrete gradating to eight inches on the edges will be used on two tailes at the south end, with a four-inch base of gravel below. On the other piece five inches of asphalt on four inches of gravel will be laid. The paving is 18 feet wide. Plans for a new highway between Richfield and a point a mile beyond Olive will be filed as soon as the rights of way have been obtained. The new road will cross the south of Santa Ana canyon at a bridge two and one half miles below the Yorba bridge. From this bridge will extend two paved roads parallelling the river, one thru Richfield and the other from Olive to Yorba. A road improvement district will be formed to look out for the paving of the section of nearly two miles north of the river and assessments made. Supervisor W. M. Schumacher will set aside $20,000 to the fund. Cash contributions from property owners are expected to defray the cost of the paving on the south side of the river, together with $5,000 from the funds of the fourth supervisorial district. On the north side of the river asphalt will be used and on the south side concrete.
