Friday, Feb. 9, 1923 200 HEAR PRESBY. CHURCH MODERATOR Approximately 300 men and women, members of the Presbyterian church in Orange-co., greeted Rev. Dr. Calvin S. Hays, moderator and head of the denomination, at the First Presbyterian Church, Santa Ana, at a dinner and meeting. The Rev. William S. Holt, associate secretary of the Board of Ministerial Relief, and Mrs. W. A. Wald, member of the Woman's Board of Home Missions, also spoke in Santa Ana. Dr. Guy Wadsworth of Los Angeles outlined the building projects proposed for So. Calif. Fifty-one of the 101 Presbyterian churches have built or plan to build edifices to cost $2,500,000. The moderator declared in his speech that the American form of government was patterned after that of the Presbyterian Church. Four activities or ideals mark the Presbyterian Church, he declared—missions, education, civic righteousness and progress. Greetings were given by Rev. W. S. McDougal of the Tustin church, Rev. William E. Roberts, pastor of the First Church, Santa Ana, presided at the dinner, and Judge W. H. Thomas of Santa Ana spoke and introduced the moderator. E. E. Newman led the community singing which was a feature. GIVES INFORMATION ON NEW DOBLE CAR Further opportunity to investigate the Doble steam car securities will be afforded those who either failed to see the car while it was in Anaheim or who desire additional information. J. T. McKenzie, representing the J. E. King Investment and Securities Company, has opened offices at the Hubbell and Wimmer Garage, 253 North Los Angels-st, where the car was shown while it was here. Mr. McKenzie states that the Doble factory in San Francisco is now in strong production and that plans are being made for pushing the work on the new factory, which will be built in Emeryville, Calif. An order for ninety new bodies was placed a few days ago with the Murphy Body WISCONSIN PICTIC Pres. Frank H. True is sending a final call to all Badgers for the mammoth picnic reunion all day Monday, Feb. 12th, in Sycamore Grove Park, Los Angeles. All the usual picnic features will be carried out such as country registers, hot coffee, badges and program. Picnickers will bring their basket dinners. A special invitation is extended tourists. BREA NEWS BREA, Feb. 9.—(Spl.)—F. K. Perrine, wife and sons Olin and Jesse were dinner guests of Mrs. Smith and daughter Mrs. Ryan last Sunday at Huntington Beach. Mrs. G. H. Middleton and son Plez were Los Angeles visitors last Saturday. Raymond Morris of Yorba Linda was a Brea visitor Wednesday. He came for Bobbie Jr., his baby who has been staying with his grandparents for several days. Mrs. Logsdon was a Los Angeles visitor Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ellenberger and son Herald, and grandfather Ellenberger, were 6 o'clock dinner guests of Mrs. J. A. Walz Sunday. Mr. Kinney spent the week-end with his family in Los Angeles. Mrs. E. L. Olmstead has purchased an Autopiano and her son Edward will take lessons soon, from Prof. Evans of Fullerton. Mrs. A. B. Bowle will attend the funeral Thursday of C. B. Waltman, in Los Angeles at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, services held in the chapel. The Young People's Society of the Nazarene church met at Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Wilson's home in Brea canyon last Friday evening. After the business period by the president, Miss Margaret Corlett, the social hour consisted of games and music. There were about 30 present and $ new members. Refreshments of cake and cocoa. Mr. J. J. Cox is having his house on Flower and Cedar-sts., painted. Mr. Charles Moseley is painting it for him. Elks Entertain Delightfully About one-hundred fifty were present at the Elks entertainment and dance last night, which was the first of a series to be given during the late winter and early spring. A program of vocal numbers was presented by Mrs. W. B. Holland, Thomas Sutton, J. W. Wallop, Roy Mendoza and a duet by Messrs. Mendoza and Sutton. Fellinge's orchestra furnished the music for dancing whither was enjoyed until a late hour. The next of the social events given by this hospitable lodge will be for their friends as well as the members and their wives, and is sure to be one of unusual pleasure. Miss Laura Merrifield on S. Poma-ave., is on the sick list.
