COSTUME BALL GIVES PRIZES FOR BEST DRESS A DELIGHTFUL costume ball was held last night at Concordia Park. A large crowd attended the affair and all reported an excellent time. Prizes were awarded to those who were dressed most effectively and there were some exceptionally clever costumes. The judges were Mrs. Marie Fisher, C. P. Peterson and C. Musch. To Mrs. Ella Lee Robents and Mrs. Pouplier went the prize for the best couple. They were in Turkish garb, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Murch as Irish peasants received the reward for the best lady and gentlemen suit. Prizes for the most original garb were presented Mrs. Herman Schindler and Mr. Frank Womack. A reward for a group of three or more was not given out as there were no groups. Although a limited number of tickets were sold, the floor was comfortably occupied. Schmidt's and Fellingo's orchestras, who furnished the music, were also en masque. Miss Holland gave three interpretations of conversations on a small town street car or suburban train. She gave another clever sketch for an encore. Miss Julien read a sketch of "Jane", from Booth Tarkington's "Seventeen", which was very cleverly portrayed. She also gave a pleasing encore. Mrs. C. W. Austin was the speaker of the day. She had planned to suggest several activities in which the girls might indulge and when informed of the several sections commented highly upon their work. She said it is the youth of the community who start activity, but it is the older citizens who support the project. She related how the P.T.A has striven for so many months to raise money for school equipment. "When young people of the high school give an entertainment," she said, "the affair goes over big. But it is the parents who made the affair a success." Mrs. Austin expressed her pleasure over the organization and feels satisfied that Anaheim can expect something big from its members in the future.
