Londas wrestled over at Hollywood the other evening and made a hit with the fans. He was going good in Frisco a few years back when Ad Santel moved in and easily defeated him but Jim was then only a boy. Santel has set up shop in Los Angeles now and Jim figures that he can give Ad the wanking papers. In the meantime he is looking for good opponents and the loose change that might be picked up in the smaller towns. To our way of thinking, Jim has developed out of the light heavy- DOPE WOULD PLACE MERCHANTS TOP OF DOUBLE "A" LEAGUE If there is anything to hope, Sanheim should be far in the lead in the Double A league instead of being tied for first place: Yesterday, Anaheim Merchants, with Harry Hughes pitching like the star he is, defeated the fast Colton Centrais 9 to 2. T. Lyon Realty Co. in which three fine sedans are given away started off with a bang today. The first unit was sold to a Santa Ana man who says: "It's the finest residence property in Orange-co." The second unit went to a local banker who made the statement that it was "the best proposition ever before the public." A Whittier man who bot the third unit is elated over the proposition. "A big advantage to this tract is that there will be no delay to develop ments which will be of the highest class," said J. T. Lyon today. "There have been completed, are now under construction or soon will be started more than $100,000 in fine residences. 1." Among these are the $25,000 mansion of Barney Hartfield, which has been completed; the $20,000 F. C. Rimpau home, now under construction; the Wayne Amack bungalow already occupied and a fine home for J. Davies, recently from So. Dak. now underway. Dr. H. A. Johnson and W. M. Wickett are planning elaborate homes. LOCALS BEAT ARMY & NAVY ACADEMY Coach Ray Elliott and his string of Anaheim basketball stars returned yesterday at 3:30 p.m. from a week-end outing at San Diego where they figured in two contests. Anaheim defeated San Diego Army and Navy Academy 23 to 12 in a hot battle Saturday evening. The local boys started off fine, keeping in the lead until the final whistle. This was one of the keenest games the lads have figured in. The teams were evenly matched and competition ran high. Feature plays were made by Ross. The boys feel that their trip was very profitable. Friday evening they lost to San Diego HI by the same margin, 25 to 12. The boys were shown a wonderful time during their stay in the southern city. They stayed at a San Diego hotel Friday evening and Saturday they were entertained at the Academy, being taken over the grounds. Fans who have seen the various teams of the Double A league cavort have been unanimously of the opinion that the dope is correct. Anaheim should never have dropped the first game of the season and it was only due to lack of organization. Nor should the Retailers have lost the game with Pasadena. When it comes down to cases and the playoff for the league honors, Anaheim is going to be right out in front as per usual. In yesterday's tilt, Hughes held the visitors to four hits and struck out 12. In addition, he got a two-bagger, along with McDowell (twice) and Pendleton. Pendleton and Glenn Callan rapped out three-baggers. It was a fast game lasting only 1:35. Colton Centrails AB H. O. A. E. Hrandy, 3b...4 1 1 1 2 Dmingz, f...3 0 1 0 0 A. He is one of the most wonderfully developed men of today. He is capable of going on the vanudeville stage and being a headliner, by displaying his muscular development. Along with his great strength and muscular development he is one of the most scientific men in the wrestling game. Mabee has not decided whether he wishes to wrestle Jim or not. Roy would have to give away much weight as Londna is considerably heavier than Santel. A good big man can beat a good little man every time and there is more risk of the smaller man being injured. A new light is gleamning in the pugillistic world—Floyd Johnson, the youngster who took Bill Brennan down the line the other evening. The Brennan bout was the opening gun in the battle to build Johnson a great reputation and to lead up to a championship go. Jack Dempsey had Floyd under his wing till recently. Now that Johnson is a luminary he will have to stand alone so the public may be brought to the proper pitch for a championship go. Out from South America comes another glimmer on the 'heavy' horizon. Luis Firpo is the fire bug. Down in S. A. Firpo has built up a great "weep" by knocking "would-be" into dream land. Firpo is coming up to get a chance at Champion Jack. A. 4 TO 2 Defeating Los Angeles Knights of Columbus 4 to 2 yesterday afternoon Anaheim Caseys are now running strong for first place in the league. Anaheim players bunched their bits in two innings. La Plant brot home two runs in the second inning and Lazzaroni added two more in the seventh inning. A considerable number of errors were made. In the field, mention for their brilliant playing is due Gisler, Huarte Celaya, Richards and Bertles. Muenchaler at first base made a good play in the sixth inning. By putting out a man at first and throwing the ball to home plate he queered the opponents chance of making three additional runs. Perry at the mound and Lazzaroni behind the bat played a good game. Anaheim lineup: Gisler, cf; Lazzaroni, c; Huarte, ss; Muckenthaler, 1b; Frank La Plant, 3b; Celaya, rf; Bertles, lf; Richards, 2b-rf; Perry, p; L. Hund, lf; Fred La Plant; 2b. Over across the pond the big English tub, Beckett, is trying to steer a course toward a championship go. Beck has an idea that he will get by Carpentier in their coming match to take place in France in May, and if he does, he intends to tour the States and incidentally show the "booming Hamericans" that "Hingland" has a 'eavyweight." With Big Jess Willard hot on Champion Jack's trail, with the Johnsons, Firpos and Becketts, buying in the distance, it looks as if Gentleman Jack would either have to climb a tree or limber up old Iron Mike.
