A Los Angeles paper of recent date has the following report of the divorce suit of Hughes vs. Hughes: By a decision entered today by Judge T. M. Jamison of Modoc county, sitting in the local superior court, both Thomas H. Hughes and Rose Hughes were denied a divorce, and Mrs. Ada S. Lynn, who formerly was a neighbor of Mr. and Mrs. Hughes in Yorba Linda, was cleared of the charges against her. The case was tried last month and taken under advisement. Mrs. Hughes instituted the suit and charged desertion, and non-support besides naming Mrs. Lynn as co-respondent. Hughes replied with a cross complaint, charging desertion. Judge Jamison held that the charges involving Mrs. Lynn were not proved and that Mrs. Hughes, while she might have believed her husband guilty of indiscreations, had no right to leave him on suspicion only. He also held that an offer of reconciliation made by Hughes was not made in good faith and therefore Mrs. Hughes could not be declared guilty of desertion. Mrs. Hughes then employed detectives to watch her husband and they testified at the trial but the court decided they saw nothing to sustain the suspicions of the wife. Third circuit setting aside the order of the trade commission directing the Curtis Publishing Company to cease and desist in the operation of its exclusive distribution system for its own publications. The question put before the court in the case and decided in favor of the company is considered of great importance under the trade commission act.
