NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:

MANY OPERATORS DENIED LICENSES
Several hundred real estate agents in California will be denied licenses because they have not posted signs stating that they are in the real estate business, according to an latitude delivered by Edwin T. Keiser, state real estate commissioner. The department issued more than 37,000 really licenses during this year.
"This statement is a warning," said Mr. Keiser, "to the numerous real estate brokers who do not want the public to know that they are in business."
Mr. Keiser went on to explain that the dealers in real estate are not in most cases in some other business and deal in real estate as a side line, which in many cases nets them am much money as the real business. They make their deals with the unsuspecting customer of their other business and usually camouflage their transactions as "a personal favor to a friend."
Because of the numerous small real estate deals transacted in Southern California and the type of people who are parties in the deals—home seekers who are ignorant of the ways business in land is done—tails part of the state is a very favorable spot for such dealers, according to the commissioner.
Field agents have informed the commissioner of at least 200 such operators in this part of the state, and at least that many will be denied new licenses, as the state law requires that a sign be posted.

First Real Sedan
Made by Franklin Co.
Calling attention to the fact that it originated the present sedan, the Franklin Motor Car Co., says according to a bulletin reaching Bob White, Nash and Franklin distributor:
"Like every innovation, the new car (the 1913 sedan) had to fare a storm of protests on the part of the conservative public, which, as always is only willing to receive a product after it has "arrived" and is in fairly wide-spread use. Expert body designers and coach-builders, however, were enthusiastic over the car and set to work to produce something along the same lines if possible, but for two whole years the Franklin Company had the entire field to itself.
From September, 1913, to September, 1914, the company shipped 22 sedans, and in the following year, 153. Each succeeding year, the demand for the sedan type has become more pronounced. During the two-year period ending September 1, 1922, a total of 7,035 sedans were shipped from the Franklin plant—a figure which, expressed in terms of percentage, amounts to 42% of total shipments during those two years.
"The term "Sedan" was originally applied to a portable chair or covered vehicle for carrying a single person, usually borne on poles by twomen. It was first made in Sedan, France, and was much affected by the French and English nobility at the time of Louis XIV.
"Prior to the introduction of the Franklin Sedan in 1913, another

SEDAN SELLS WELL
The new Golden State Studebaker sedan is proving highly popular in Northern Orange County. Harry D. Riley, distributor, reports the sale of another one this week to Roy N. Hampey of Fullerton, who also has purchased a used Ford touring car.
Rudolph C. Suhr of Anaheim purchased a sedan this week, Homer Eddy of Anaheim a special six touring, and E. Engmann of Fullerton also a special six. Eugene Rivera of Anaheim and L. Herrmann of Fullerton also purchased cars.
American manufacturer had brought out a few heavy, enclosed, chauffeur-driven cars of the same order as the European limousine and which were chisened by some trade writer as "sedans." Why that particular term was used is still more or less a mystery, as there was little in common between the vehicle to which the mine was given and its hereditary namesake. When the Franklin Sedan was first shown at the New York show, the term had, however, acquired some little ascendancy, and everyone who saw the car spoke of it as a "sedan."
