BARBERS FINALLY LOSE TO WHITTIER
After winning every match of the season, Dick's Close Shaves finally went down to defeat in their return match with the Whittier Five. The games were all close, the Barbers taking two out of three games, but losing out on total pins. All the Barbers except Morago were way below form. The totals were: Whittier 2155, Close Shaves 2140.
The deciding match will probably be rolled next Thursday.

TWO LOCAL BOXERS WIN AT GATE CITY
Billy Darney's boxing boys had a fair might of it over San Bernardino way last night—two winners and two drawers. Charley Dement put Jimmy Cummings of Redlands down and out in the second round after a hurricane of punches. Johnny Nanades and Sailor Bob Watman drew in four rounds as did Battling Reddy and Jordan of Riverside. This was the best bout on the bill for action. Kid Rublo, who was scheduled to meet Art Espin, failed to show and so Art was forced to take on Kid Shadow and handily disposed of his man in round one. Other bouts on the bill were Joe Grimm and Boblay Chee who went to a draw as did Jimmy Musso and Eddie Murphy who figured in the main event of the evening.

VIC RUEDY MAKES HOME IN ANAHEIM
Vic Ruedy, the fast little center fielder of the Anaheim Merchants baseball club, likes Anaheim so well that he has decided to make it his home, together with his father. They have opened a tire shop at 419 West Center-st, where they are handling Pennsylvania cup tires.
Vic played with Fort Smith, Ark., in the Western Ass'n, last season and hit for 318. He is under reserve to that club but does not know where he will play this season as several clubs are after his services. The Syracuse League is endeavoring to buy him and two clubs of the Texas league are also after him.
Vic has made many friends during his short stay in this city who will be glad to know he is to make this his home and they will wish him luck in his new venture.

IT'S K. O. CHANEY WITH FANS HENCE
If you please, Mr. Boxing Fan, it is K. O. Chaney from now on. Unknown—to but a few of his local friends, Josephus slipped down to San Diego and donned the mitts in the semi-windup of the San Diego Athletic Club's weekly boxing fest against one, tough gob who is stationed there and who answers to the name of Joe Goose.
Our Joe put over the crusher in the second round and it is said the tar went down and was out for several moments. Chaney made a big hit with San Diego fight fans by his speed and action and, oh yes, we mustn't forget to add, the K. O. wal-top.
Joe and the San Diego climate must have agreed on something for it is a well known fact to local fight bugs that Chaney doesn't hit hard enough to crack an egg-shell. However, Chaney surely showed the southern city fans some heavy artillery as well as greased lighting—and is matched for the main event on next week's card. We're with you Joe, keep it up.
WEST VA. GRIDDERS ARRIVE TOMORROW; PENN DUE SUNDAY
With the arrival of the Union, of W. Va., football team in So. Cal. tomorrow afternoon and with Penn State's squad due at Pasadena Sunday night, eyes of the football world will be centered on the Pacific Coast for the next two weeks, during which time three of the biggest sectional struggles of the season will be staged.
Despite the fact that two of the Eastern representatives, State and Pittsburg, have been beaten, interest in the coast contest has reached a high pitch in the Middle West and Far East, according to word received here, the result being that games played in California this year are setting a new record as far as sectional attractiveness is concerned.
The Virginia eleven, which meets Gonzaga at San Diego Monday afternoon in the first East vs. West clash of the month, is scheduled to work at Bovard field tomorrow afternoon. Present plans call for the Mountaineers to leave at 3 o'clock for the southern city, where they will hold their final workout Sunday afternoon.
Although their scrimmage was rather short, Gonzaga showed plenty in their initial appearance yesterday. The squad locks exceptionally powerful and no doubt will be in wonderful shape to put up a gruelling battle against West Virginia.
Virginia is coming out with an undefeated team, said by Eastern critics to be among the best in the country. Because of their short stay in this section climatic conditions should not be taken into consideration and it seems certain that the Mountainees will be heavy favorites to smear the Washington outfit.
Penn State probably will stage its initial workout at the Pasadena stadium Monday.

PLACENTIA
PLACENTIA, Dec. 22.—(Spl.)—The Christmas program presented by the Placentia Grammar school pupils was equal to no finer than the one presented a year ago, both being under the digetion of Miss Ruth Howerton. The Glee Club gave the first part of the program, the second was solos, acid dancing and the operetta the last part. The sweet child voices of the forty members of the Glee club were pleasant to listen to as they gave "The Wonderful Name" cantata. In the solo parts Miss Margaret Snell displayed a very sweet voice and a volume that made her singing more effective than many youthful soloists. Her pretty unaffected manner was charming. Ione Wagner took her part well also although her voice did not have the volume it will have when she plays.

The Glee Club gave the first part of the program, the second was solos and dancing and the operetta the last part. In the solo parts Miss Margaret Snell displayed a very sweet voice and a volume that made her singing more effective than many youthful soloists. Her pretty unaffected manner was charming. Ione Wagner took her part well also although her voice did not have the volume it will have later.
In the second part Paul Peatly played his flute splendidly for a lad of his age. Miss Ruth Howerton's singing is always enthusiastically received by her audience and so the highest compliment that can be paid is to say that she sang in her usual charming manner.
Mr. Carruthers of the Wahlberg studios played a violin solo that was much appreciated, his accompanist being from the studio.
Little Ellen Edwardson, the six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Edwardson, did some fancy dancing and was heartily applauded.
The operetta, "A Fairy Conspiracy" was well given. Each and every character was well acted and showed perfect training that reflected great credit to their teacher.
While the audience showed their appreciation by a prolonged applause, Miss Gladys Sullivan accompanied the cantata and operetta and soloists throughout the program. The operetta presents the child who does not believe in Santa Claus, fairies, browplies or witches but who is led to believe in them by their goodness to the people of fairy tales. The curtain rises on a room in a modern house. The fairies come tripping in playing on silver harps, followed by brownies. They all sing of a little girl who does not believe in the little people of fairyland. As they dance together they discover this child fast asleep in her bed. Santa joins them and they begin to teach the little child the truth. The child shows surprise on being awakened by the fairies singing, and finding the crowd of fairy folk. She sings a song telling why she cannot believe in their reality. So the fairies waft in their well-known Fairy Tale folk who each tell of the joy and hap-
SPECIAL SANTA FE TO SAN DIEGO XMAS
The Santa Fe will run a special train to San Diego Sunday, returning next evening for attending races at Tia Juanna or football game at San Diego, and passes thru Anaheim about 9:15 a.m. Sunday, leaving San Diego at 7 p.m. Monday. The round trip from Anaheim is $5.40.
piness the fairies have brought to them. The little child is convinced and they all hurry away to Fairyland to give her a good time.
The costumes of all the characters were beautiful. The stage settings were very appropriate, the furniture being furnished by the Placentia Furniture Co.
The little kindergartners put on their very own program on Tuesday morning in their room under the direction of their teacher, Miss Weaver. Songs and games made up the first part and the result of the unseen visit of Santa Claus, the last part. Each mother present received a gift, made by her own son or daughter, tied up with Christmas cards and white tissue paper. Then each child was presented with a candy cane. The mothers and fathers showed their interest in the work being done by these little people by turning out almost en masse.
NO BOXING HERE UNTIL NEW YEAR'S
The weekly boxing show of the Anaheim Athletic Club, which is held every Friday night at the Arena on the Sugar factory grounds, has been postponed until after the holidays, according to the announcement made by Manager Billy Darnley. There will be no more athletic shows until Thursday, Jan. 4th, when Darnley expects to stage a live card of six high powered bouts that ought to knock the fans dizzy for class. In the meantime, Darnley will keep his boys busy by daily workouts at the local club's training quarters so that when the call of time sounds again they will all be in tip top shape and just 'ratin' to go.
There is a gleam of interest, beyond its theatrical news, in the fact that Mune, Peirre Achmathoff, a members of the Moscow Art Theatre was detained at Ellis Island and then turned over to the Methodist Intimidation done by these little people by turning out almost en masse.
