A tree, towering to the ceiling, held the interest of the children, particularly, with its glittering tinsel, shiny decorations and twinkling lights of many colors. The program committee, composed of the Mesdames Hewellyn, Terry and Mauerhan had spared no pains in their entertainment plans, and presented several numbers: "A French Doll's Dance," by the little Misses Muriel Bray and Florence Liggett, of Santa Ana, who are talented little pupils of the local Patron school of dancing; they wore Colonial costumes and were altogether charming. "Who Santa Claus Was," was very easily read by Paye Hunton who responded with a solo for her second number: "Come All Ye Faithful." Mrs. W. J. Liewellyn sang "Out Where the West Begin," and responded to enchore with "You're a Little Bit of Honey." Miss Ruth Julian read "Jane," most ably, and was followed by delightful exemplification by the two little dancers, of an old-fashioned gavotte. An instrumental trial by Miss Mabel Mitchell and Fred Krusel and Lawrence Mitchel, with a reading, "How Christmas came to the Poor House, by Miss Ellen Tuma, brought the hour for theoting of Santa." The jolly old rascal, who in real life is C. W. Hedges, entered with the usual amount of noise, carrying a bag of gifts, which were distributed after he had acknowledged the happy greetings. The children were also given stockings full of candy and apples. Plays Usual Good Game Mrs. L. Z. Kroeger continued her winning streak in playing 500 and again won high score yesterday afternoon, when the Elite club members were entertained by Mrs. A. K. Dahl. Disposing of the necessary business in short order the program was opened with music by Mrs. George McNell, and a song by a group of girls under the direction of Mrs. James Calder. Mrs. Henry Warren read "The Spirit of Christmas." With Mrs. Carl Snyder at the piano, Gordon McComber sang a Christmas song, and Miss Emma Robinson read a number. As the girls finished singing Christmas carols in unison, the lights were turned on the tree which had stood unobserved and Santa Claus then appeared with gifts for each of the 53 children present, a pretty gift, a box of candy and a candy cane. Mrs. N. D. McDowell, president of the club, was hostess of the afternoon, assisted by Mrs. Ed Mann, who later served tea and wafers. The nest regular club meeting will be held Jan. 5. Party for Brother Miss Lorraine Williams entertained a bevy of friends on a recent evening honoring the birthday anniversary of her brother Everett Games, that all youngsters enjoy and refreshments were served at the conclusion of a happy afternoon. An instrumental trio by Miss Mabel Mitchell and Fred Krastei and Lawrence Mitchel, with a reading, "How Christmas came to the Poor House, by Miss Ellen Tuma, brought the hour for the coming of Santa." The jolly old rascal, who in real life is C. W. Hedges, entered with the usual amount of noise, carrying a bag of gifts, which were distributed after he had acknowledged the happy greetings. The children were also given stockings full of candy and apples. After this feature the company went into the bouquet room where Xmas goodies were served from tables prettily trimmed in holly. A social time with music and other amusement concluded a very happy event. The committees in charge deserve special credit for the success of the evening. Present For All Old St. Nick left a package of "something nice" at the C. B. Goodson home last evening for each member of the Chat 'En Seau club. The packages were hidden in various parts of this room and as each girl took a little slip of paper off the Xmas tree she was directed to look in a designated place for her Xmas gift. The girls experienced much delight in doing this. Several of them sewed and others passer the time with conversation and music. A tasty lunchton was enjoyed after the diversions of the evening. Guests of Mrs. Goodson were Mrs. Welcome M. Ward, Mrs. Harriett Boyd, Mrs. Fred Scott, Mrs. E. Voss Herrington, Mrs. W. C.
