COURT HONORS LADIES WHO HAVE MOVED FROM TOWN WITH a program which everyone heartily endorsed, Liberty Court, Order of Amaranth entertained last evening in honor of three members, Mrs. Small, Mrs. Colton and Mrs. Harroun, who recently left Anaheim to make their homes elsewhere. Miss Gibson, of the E. Gene Gibson Dancing school presented her dancing school presented her dancing dolls in a score of numbers. The children range in age from three to ten years and were marvelous in their interpretation of the dances, for which Grace Elliott Gibson supplied piano music. After the program the guests were invited into the banquet room which had been "prettied up" with holly, each table being centered with the popular Christmas green. Charming little favors of gumdrop dolls were at each cover, and a luncheon of excellent menu was served. To make the occasion a little more Christmas real, oldfashioned popeorn balls were presented after the repast. Cypress Xmas Program The Cypress Community Church will have their Xmas program, Saturday evening at 7:30 in the church. All are cordially invited. Musical numbers and several tableaux will feature the program. The pastor will deliver the Xmas sermon Sunday morning. It Tays to Advertise in the Orange County Plain Dealer. Pageant by Pres. S. S. Christmas exercises will be held in the Presbyterian Sunday school at 7 o'clock Friday evening. The Craile roll, beginners and primary departments will take part in the recitations, songs and pantomime. The junior and intermediates children have dialogs songs, and other numbers. The young people will have a chorus and a pageant entitled "The Gift", which gives one scene in Herod's palace and the other at the stable in Bethlehem both will be represented by proper settings built by the fellows in Mr. Collins class. There will be electrical and other special features and a surprise at the last. All parents and friends are invited and other members of the school are expected to be on hand. Cypress Grammar Party Children of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades of the Cypress school are anticipating a fine program given as a Christmas festivity on tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. Miss Ethel Little teacher of those grades, will be in charge of the doings, but has appointed her assistants, Blanche Cawthon, of the eighth grade; Belle Kelley, seventh; Wesley Wallace, sixth and Sadaka Saiki, of the fifth to serve refreshments which she has provided. The treat is being kept a profound secret, but each child is asked to bring a pointed stick which they think sounds like juley, hot welnies. Games have been arranged and the youngsters are going to enjoy the party to the limit. Acknowledging that these reports sometimes seem tedious, they mean the foundation of future study, and for that reason are important. The first year is considered the period of training which is essential to impress ideas of early civilization, the corner stone, as it were, for the coming study. The review of "Babbitt," by Mrs. Leo Sheridan, held the undivided attention of the club, as her comments and style ideas were splendidly presented. The play of the month, "Rur," as given by Mrs. R. W. Balch, was exhaustive in review. From the pen of a Bohemian author of unusual education and culture, the play is winning fame in New York where it is being presented in the Garrick theatre. Current events were presented by the president, Mrs. H. H. Benjamin, who gave particular attention to the recent visit of Georges Clemenceau, reparations and national indebtedness action, pro and con comments on the defeated bonus bill, the Fordney-McCumber tariff bill and the discussed Cable Curtis bill pertaining to naturalization and citizenship of women. Mrs. Schiller's able summary on Babylonia and Assyria concluded the program and gave an excellent completion to the text. Mrs. C. E. Harbeson, who seemed at her best, sang "Silent Night, Holy Four Year Tot's Party Helen Ruth Tobin, was four years old yesterday and to make the event more happy she invited eight of her friends in for the afternoon. Games were enjoyed and the guests delighted in watching little Miss Tobin open her birthday gifts. A dainty feature that adorned the dining table was the miniature house, made of cotton, the chimney of peppermint candies and the Saata Claus standing by the door. Guests of Miss Helen were the Missie Barbara Phillips, Barbara Jackman, Ruth Cathon Poore, Cecll Bee Sutton, Bernadette Tucker, Amy Fergus, Florence and Phyllis Archer. A number of mothers and friends accompanied the youngsters who were Mrs. Page Tucker, Mrs. N. Fergus, Mrs. N. M. Durkee and Mrs. Williams, and grandmother Tobin, passed the afternoon with Mrs. Tobin. Martes Club Meets The Martes club played again yesterday at the home of Mrs. P. Nevin whose rooms were pretty in their Christmas dress of holly. Prizes were won by Mrs. W. Kaufer, first; Mrs. K. Peck, second, and Mrs. Nevin, consolation. A light luncheon was served after the games, the card tables being used. Covers were laid for Mrs. C. McCalley, who substituted for Mrs. Mock. Long Beach, Mrs. E. Bromer, Mrs. M. Keithley, Mrs. E. Gribben, Mrs. J. Black, Mrs. R. Law, Mrs. A. Trilppett, Mrs. O. Hardebeck, Mrs. McMorris and the three prize winners, the Merdames Kaufer, Peck and Nevih, making an even dozen. Welcome by Harold Cantata Sunday Night The final rehearsal for the Sunday music which will feature the Presbyterian services, will be held Saturday evening in the church. The regular quartet is assisted by Mrs. Walter Ross and Mr. Donald Walker in singing the cantata, "The Holy Night," by Ashford, which occurs Sunday evening. Lighted only by the flockering glow of 14 cathedral candles, in tall gilded holders, the effect will be wonderously beautiful, furthered by the elaborate decorations of greenery, Christmas flowers and golden stars. The cantata is under the direction of Dale Hamilton Evans who also is organist. The offertory solo in the morning will be sung by Mr. Waugh and in the evening by Donald Walker. In the morning, two choruses from "The Coming of the King," (Dudley Buck) will feature the service. Christmas Party for Six Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hamilton Evans extended the hospitality of their home last evening to the quartet choir of the Presbyterian church entertaining with a Christmas party. With music, both in conversation and execution, the evening was happily passed. Later the guests were invited into the dining room where covers were laid at a prettily appointed table. Centered with poinsettias, hung with red and green garlands, from a suspended lighting fixture, and brightened with gold stars placed to advantage, the charm was complete. The guests included the Misses Alice Grim, Elizabeth Walker, and Messrs Maurice C. Waugh and William Askin, who, with the host and hostess made a jolly sextet. Schmidt and family, of Olive, are happy indeed over the gift which they have already received, apparently from Santa Claud; for a nice new Ford sedan was mysteriously driven into the Schmidt drive and abandoned, the only identification being the disk showing the purchase had been made from a nearby Ford agency. Investigation proved that friends of Mr. Schmidt, who is instructor of the Lutheran parochial school in Olive, had presented the Ford as a mark of their appreciation. Rev Theiss, pastor of the Olive Lutheran church, was similarly honored about two years ago by members of his congregation. The Christmas Gift for Her!
