CAN MABEE DEFEAT CHAMP AD SANTEL?
By Sargum Sprout
Tonight in the early theater two wonderful wrestlers will put forth every effort possible for victory—one to retain the honors he has held for 12 years, that of being the world's best of his weight; the other will try to establish his supremacy and thereby ascend to the throne of the other.
Ad Santel is a gentleman and a clean sportsman, the kind that all true Americans love. He will be opposed by our own home boy, who we know to be honorable in business, a princely neighbor and a good citizen. We would be doing our selves as well as Roy an injustice to wish him anything but success. So, tonight, when these two men of magnificent physical strength and science are locked in the supreme test of their ability all loyal Anaheimers will adhere the one but will put all the strength of their being in a great wish for victory to come to the home boy.
Ad Santel has defeated all good men of his class. Time and again he has stepped into the heavyweight class and defeated some of the best. It is only a very few of the heavy weight men who can defeat him today, and it is only thru their superior weight that they are enabled to do so. He is a physical marvel.
Roy Mabee, is a marvel also, but different. Santel has a wonderful display of muscle and brawn while Roy has not.
Where Roy stores his wonderful strength is beyond our comprehension out of three falls. Threw Hacken-techniqt two straight falls. Won handicap from Ad Santel. Beat Orland Miller two straight. Lost Padille two out of three falls, came back and beat him badly two straight in a return match.
Can oi can he not win from the great Santel. Tomorrow I will tell you, but you had better come tonight and see for yourself.
LEGION LEAGUE IS ABOUT READY TO GO
Organization of the all-county outdoor baseball league of the American Legion is practically completed, W. E. Altnow, one of the prime movers in the plan, announced today. All of the six posts have teams and weekly games will be played beginning soon for a handsome silver trophy cup to be given by a well-known sporting goods manufacturing firm.
The local post beat the Knights of Columbus indoor baseball team six to one last evening on the city park diamond. Elllott and Pearson formed the battery for the Legion and Huerie and Hund for the Knights. Anaheim post hasn't lost a game yet.
The next game will be with the Schneiders.

Where Roy stores his wonderful strength is beyond our comprehension. At every match he has won, we wonder how he was capable of doing it. It is this hidden strength of Roy's that keeps his most ardent admirers uncertain of his ability. If Rey had the apparent physical strength of Santel, local fandom would feel certain of his triumph, as it is, we will all be on edge and unhappy till the victory is won or lost.
An injury caused Roy's retirement from the game for eight years. Here is his record since re-entering the game a little over a year ago: Threw Al Sparks two falls in 35 minutes. Pinned Victor Baden two times in 40 minutes. Threw Sparks and Baden each two falls in 50 minutes. Beat Allen Foss two falls in 35 minutes. Won handicap from Joe Toots Mondt. Bear Miyakl best two

PENN PLAYERS TO START FOR PACIFIC COAST TONIGHT
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19—Penn State and the Univ. of West Virginia, representative Eastern squads which meet the University of Southern California and Gonzaga in two of the biggest sectional football struggles of the year start on their invasion of the Pacific Coast tonight.
The Nittany Lions, who play the Trojans at Pasadena on the afternoon of Jan. I are scheduled to arrive in this section Sunday night. Present plans call for the state players to step through their initial workout at the stadium Monday morning.
Virginia's squad is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles Friday. It was stated today that the squad will go through a light workout at Bovard field that afternoon before leaving for San Diego, where they will swing into action against Gonzaga Christmas afternoon.
According to word received from Hugo Bezdek late yesterday, 22 players will make up the Penn State party. Assistant Coach Martin and Graduate Manager Fleming will accompany the party, it was stated.
State players who will make the trip to Southern California follows: Ends, Frank Arlett, McCoy and Anderson; tackles, McMahon, Johnson, Logue and Blair; guards, Bednek, Prevost, Flock and Ellwood; centers, Hamilton and Captain Bentz; quarterbacks, Patton and Palm; backs, Wentz, Wilson, Lafferty, Hufford, Shannon and Fleming.
First plans called for state to send 26 players to Southern California, but following workouts lasting for the past two weeks Bezdek decided to weed out his squad, it being his contention that several of the players would be unable to get in

HIGH SCHOOL WINS
“Y” INDOOR TITLE
By defeating the Schneider team last evening 5 to 4 the Anaheim H. S. team won the title for the Y. M. indoor baseball league. As a regard they will be presented with a silver loving cup at the banquet the first week in January.
Moody, H. S. left hander, was at his best last night and twirled some pretty ball. He also succeeded in bringing home a run. Other batters were Griggs, Pohlman and Panier. In the fourth inning, Panier made a pretty slide onto second base. He was a little longer than usual in getting up and it was discovered that he had dislocated his shoulder. He was fixed up at the hospital and is all right today. Art Mann subbed for him.
E. and A. Schrott and Cornwall starred for the Schneiders. It was a close game all the way through.
H. S. players—Hancock, c; Panier and Mann, lf; Pohlman, 1b; Newkirk, 1s; Jauss, cf; Easton, 3b; Moody, p; Beebe, 2b; Ross, rs; Grigga, rf.
Schneiders—L. Schrott, 2b; La-Plant, 1s; Fred Schneider, c; P. Schrott, 3b; W. Schneider, rs; Cornwall, 1b; Jackson, p; Degryse, cf; E. Schneider, rf.
BRUNK’S COMEDIANS REMAIN THIS WEEK
Brunks Comedians began its second week in Anaheim last night presenting the Broken Idol to a large and highly pleased audience. This company has lived up to the good things said in its favor and are adding friends and admirers at each presentation. Tonight Ralph Kettering’s famous play, “Which One Shall I Marry” will be given. This company is playing under the auspices of Anaheim’s Volunteer Fire Department and should be liberally supported. The repertoire for this week will be entirely new, as well as the specialties.
B trip to Soutlurn California follows: Ends, Frank Arlett, McCoy and Anderson; tackles, McMahon, Johnson, Logue and Blair; guards, Bednek, Prevost, Flock and Ellwood; centers, Hamilton and Captain Bentz; quarterbacks, Patton and Palm; backs, Wentz, Wilson, Lafferty, Hufford, Shannon and Fleming.
First plans called for state to send 26 players to Southern California, but following workouts lasting for the past two weeks Bezdek decided to weed out his squad, being his contention that several of the players would be unable to get in the best of condition for the East vs. West contest.
The Eastern representatives will make but one stop en route to Pasadena. The squad will spend one day at the Grand canyon.
While the state players are traveling to the coast, Elmer Henderson and Cliff Herd, Trojan coaches, will be whipping the E. S. C. players into trim. During the past few days the squad had been slightly handicapped because of the sloppy condition of Boyard field, but from now until New Year’s Day every member of the team will be put through the toughest serinimage of the season.
One of the pleasant surprises of the past three workouts has been the showing of Roy Baker, demon half, who will play his final game against Penn State. “Ironsides” has been hitting the line like a ton of bricks and it has been freely predicted that the Cardinal and Gold ace will be one of the bright lights of the Jan. 1 contest.
West Virginia is bringing one of the classiest gridion machines in the Far East to the coast for the Gonzaga argument and it is the belief in local football circles that the Mountaineers will win in rather impressive fashion.

Hundreds of Scouts will co-operate in church programs to be held the latter part of this week. So many of these programs came on Friday evening that County Headquarters, recognizing the Scout objection to the church, postponed the big Christmas Rally, which was to be held in Fullerton Friday evening, until Jan. 19th, to be held in the Anaheim High school auditorium. One of the finest programs ever staged by the local council had been arranged for that date.
Announcement was made from County Headquarters today that the annual meeting of the council will be held January 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in St. Ann's Inn. A splendid program has already been promised, with Dr. R. B. Von Kleinsmld, president of Univ. of So. Calif., as the principal speaker. The musical program will include numbers by the Orange-co choral union male quartet, and others equally as good.
The regular monthly meeting of the court of honor for the Orange district was held last Friday evening, at which one first class and thirteen merit badges were awarded. Courts of honor will be held at Fullerton on Tuesday evening at the arena gymnasium and in Buena Park on Wednesday evening in the grammar school auditorium. Court of honor for the Santa Ana section will be held in the city hall, Santa Ana, Friday evening, Dec. 29th.
Steps were taken last week to organize another new troop in Santa Ana to be known as Santa Ana Troop Number Twelve, in the Spurgeon Memorial Church. Meeting of the troop committee is scheduled for Monday evening, Dec. 18th.
Mrs. V. L. Erie and daughter plan to leave tomorrow over the Santa Fe for St. Louis.

Anaheim defeated Huntington Beach last week and is pretty sure of planting a defeat on Orange. Although there are no school sessions this week, Capt. Newkirk has assembled his squad and is putting them thru the regular drill work.
BOOZE IN POCKET?
CAN'T TAKE AUTO!
If the occupant of an auto has in his pocket the liquor he is carrying and not in the car, the car cannot be seized and held. Consequently scores of cars so seized must be returned. This is one of the effects of a ruling by U.S. Attorney Joe Burke, according to word from Los Angeles today. No person can be searched until he has first been placed under arrest.
The ruling is not expected to interfere with search of cars passing thru Orange co to Los Angeles on the way from Mexico. But the arrest must first be made.
