Santa Ana, was knocked down today on West Chapman avenue. Orange, half a mile from the County Hospital when she tried to pass two approaching cars. She was struck by the car of E. L. Sherman of 243 No. Grand-ave., Orange, who took her to the county hospital. There she was found to have suffered a severe laceration and bruising of the scalp. She will probably recover. PLEA FOR PEACE IS GIVEN OUT BY POPE ROME, Dec. 15—A plea for "Christ's peace in Christ's kingdom," was voiced by Pope Plus XI today in the secret consistory which met at the vatican to create eight new cardinals. There are no Americans unong the prelates receiving the red hat. The consistory opened the ceremony with an allocation in which the hope for peace was acclaimed. In this document the pontiff renewed the protest of the late Pope Benedict XXV against the creation of a Jewish national state in Palestine. The demand was made that Roman Catholic interests in Palestine be fully protected. Twenty-two cardinals were present Main-st outside the city of Santa Ana. William St. Clair of Costa Mesa reported striking a wagon filled with Mexicans. The damage to the wagon and injuries to the Mexicans, if any, St. Clair did not announce.
