WILL ROGERS IN HIS FAVORITE ROLE
"Everything comes to him who waits", according to the old maxim, and for once this came true in the life of Will Rogers, who plays the role of Ichabod Crane in "The Headless Horeman" or "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," the scheduled attraction playing at the United Theatre for two more days.
It has always been, according to Mr. Rogers, his desire to play certain roles or represent certain characters in modern dramas. MASON BROWN GETS ONE TO TEN YEARS
Mason Brown, deacon of a Santa Ana church, is out on bail of $7,500 pending appeal from a decision of Judge Monroe in Los Angeles, when Brown was sentenced to from one to 10 years at San Quentin on a charge of pandering. Sailors testified that he had been running a house of ill repute at Los Angeles Harbor.
The pastor of the church and members of the congregation testified to Brown's good character. Brown was not committed to Los Angeles jail because of its crowded condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mitchell and daughter Mabel motored to Balboa yesterday.
SANTA FE LEASE
SANTA FE LEASE, Dec. 4. (Spl.) Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vanatta had as their guests Thanksgiving day Miss Zola Vanatta of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vanatta and children. May and Betty and Charles of Olinda. Everyone enjoying lots of turkey.
Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews and son, Lee Jaynes, attended a family reunion at the home of Mrs. Neille Andrews at Compton Thursday.
Many folks attended the dance at the Olinda Social Hall given by the West Coast Athletic club. Those of this lease were, Elmer Williams and friend, Mona and Helen Meranda; Don Cullen, Miss Bernice Walkup, Mrs. R. F. Jones and daughter, Sadie and son, Robert, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilbur, Miss Agnes McGuire, Mr. Bert Ryan, and son, Joe, and daughter, Willamish, Mr. Keith Ford Mrs. H. Schryer and daughter, Olive, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Andrews and Lee Jaynes, Mr. and Mrs. B. Spear, Miss Margarett Flynn, Mr. and Mrs. Wolf Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Leguire, Ruek Cullen, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrews and others.
Mrs. H. Schryer and daughter, Olive and son, Bill, visited Mr. Schryers niece, Mrs. Fred Cowan, husband and family of Fullerton. Later, Mrs. Schryer and Olive and Bill motored to Olive where they attended a Thanksgiving supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Faribain and family.
Mrs. R. Meranda and daughters, Eunice and Miss Mona and Mr. Donald Cullen were town visitors Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Schryer had as their Thanksgiving guests, Mr. Bill Schryer of the West Coast lease, Mr. James Hunker and Mr. Clyde Fairbain both of Olive.
Miss Helen Meranda had as her guest over the week end Miss Bernice Walkup of Anaheim formerly of this lease. Miss Ruth Herd was also a guest of Miss Helen Friday.
Another dancer at the Olinda Social Hall on Dec. 14th. Hard time.
Mr. and Mrs. Fern Heirman attended Thanksgiving dinner at the Garden Grove Realty Board will be effected Dec. 15, it is announced. The heads of the temporary organization make be endoised. They are F. M.
