SANTA CLAUS AT WEBER'S SATURDAY The annual first reception by Santa Claus at Weber's Book & Music Store Saturday was more of a success than ever. Apparently every kid in No. Orange-co was present to meet St. Nick. Each youngster was presented with a top by the genial gentleman. Hundreds of children left letters telling how good they have been, minding their parents, and what their Christmas wishes. Below are three samples: "Dear Santa Claus: Please bring me some of these things and I will thank you ever so much; a bicycle to ride to school; a thermos lunch kit, a knife, a firewagon, a pair of gloves, a spring top, an iron dump wagon. I am seven years old and live at the first house on Brookhurst-rd north of county road and three miles west of Anaheim, 1½ miles from school. Lovingly, Hugh F. Taylor, RFD 2, Box 39." "Dear Santa; I want a steam boiler and a sandiger and a blackboard and a Christmas tree please don't forget Marlon—Edward Cocksan." "Dear Santa; I want a steam roller and a car a blackboard and a sandiger please send sister a doll and buggy, I mind my mama Robert." MELBA PLANS OPERA TOUR PARIS, Dec. 4.—Mme. Mleab was reported today to be organizing her own opera company in London. A world tour is planned, it is said. MAY INVESTIGATE PRICE OF GASOLINE LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4.—A number of state senators and assemblymen from Los Angeles county are in favor of an investigation by the legislature of the price of gasoline. This was disclosed by a poll of the majority of the state legislators from this county. Several of the solons express a hesitancy about committing themselves on the subject. Others are outspoken in their belief that the price of gasoline is too high, considering the enormous production of crude oil. WALKS INTO GLASS CASE; BADLY CUT Vic La mont was painfully cut on the hand and leg when he walked in to a glass show case at the Anaheim Beef Co. late Saturday. La Mont was collecting paraphernalia for the Elks big society circus for Christmas relief. He failed to note the glass case until he had crashed into it. A bad gash in his hand was still bleeding seriously today, while more serious cuts were inflicted in the leg. FIND L. A.
