COUNTRY NORMAL, SAYS DODGE HEAD "Healthy from the feet up," is the way F. J. Haynes, president of Dodge Brothers, describes the country's business condition, after a six weeks' "listening tour" on which he was accompanied by John A. Nichols, Jr., general sales manager of Dodge Brothers, says Charley Mann, local Dodge distributor. Mr. Haynes and Mr. Nichols visited practically every important city in the northwest and along the Pacific coast from Vancouver to Los Angeles. "We just listened," said Mr. Haynes. "We heard what our dealers thought, we heard what their bankers had to say and we got first-hand opinions from merchants of all sizes and descriptions. And the sum total of the whole series of observations and opinions is this: "The country is back to normal. Its recovery from the feverish overexertion of war time is practically complete. The new cycle of prosperity has started. But it is not the prosperity of boom times. It is the sound, healthy sort of prosperity which develops with steady firmness. Bankers and merchants everywhere regard it as a substantial permanent improvement. They are content to see a gradual development because they have only recently witnessed ad tragic example of the other kind of development—the kind that accumulates so much momentum that the brakes of good business judgment are useless in an emergency." Main St., San NEW CHEVROLET GETTING ATTENTION The new 1923 Superior Chevrolet line is a decided advance over its precedent both in style and engineering, yet prices remain the same. This has been made possible by the economies due to Chevrolet's greatly increased production schedules, says C. E. Diminis, branch manager of the Frank P. Taggart Co. The gasoline tank has been removed from under the front seat to the rear of the car and vacuum feed substituted for gravity feed. The most apparent improvements in the new line are in design. All models have high hoods and streamline bodies, with drum type headamps and crown-pannelled fenders. A novel unit of the line is the sedanette. As its name implies it is a slightly shortened sedan, for four passengers, equipped with a 35-inch trunk at rear. There are two wide doors. The front seats are individual and tip forward to facilitate entrance to rear seat. This novelty model gives Chevrolet enter to the style and sport field, and is the first car of this type to be offered in the less-than-$1000 class. It is priced at $850. Bevillard Is Little, But Oh My This is a "story" that wasn't furnished by A. Bevillard. Bevillard is the little chap who bosses the Anaheim Ignition Depot, principally by the influence of mind over body. Bevillard is a wizard in the electrical business. He claims to have been the first to use the constant potential system of charging batteries in Anaheim—and we believe him. He knows the radio battery as well as the auto or any other storage battery. He is always a little in advance of the trade. The public not only in Anaheim, but for miles around has come to know Bevillard as a man who can not only diagnose battery troubles, but cure them. Better still, he can prevent them. Peace of Mind with Exide Battery Like the heart in your body, the beat battery in a car is the one you are least aware of. The battery you want is the one that will give you care free service for the longest time, says George Ennis of the Automotive Electric Co. You will not be disappointed if you expect more than the ordinary from an Exide. Building batteries for fine locomotives, industrial trucks, farm lighting, the telephone system, and a majority of the world's submarines, has taught the manufacturers of the Exide how to make a rugged battery for your car. And Ennis, with his 11 years of experience, can service it for you. STAR CARS TO BE SHOWN HERE TODAY With a big shipment of Star cars arriving yesterday for James E. Appleby, Inc., the first showing here today of the new low priced Durant product will be auspicious. It was a foregone conclusion that Appleby would take over the car but the formal negotiations weren't concluded until a week or more ago when the cars were assured in quantity. Appleby also has a good sized number of Durant cars on the floor here. LEGAL NOTICE In the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Orange.
