How to Make Soil Augur
For the benefit of those who desire to make their own soil auger, or have one made by their blacksmith, the farm advisor submits the following specifications.
The "soil auger" is an auger with a 1½-inch bit and a six-foot shank, usually made in sections for convenience.
To build a soil quality standard cartridge, use 1½ inches in diameter with the screw point and the sidecutting edges filed off, and with file pitch of the worm at the end made a little steeper than normal pitch, making the end slightly "fish tailed" in shape.
The shank is made of ¾ or ½ inch steel rod, with a handle at the top, made of 1 or 1½-inch pipe, fastened to the shank with a T coupling. The handle should not be over 15 inches long — about six inches on each side of the coupling.
When the rod is made in sections, the usual size is four sections of 28-inch length each. The coupling should be strong, the hexagonal "aeromotor" pump rod connections being excellent. The sections of shank can be flattened slightly on two sides, near each end, to make it easier for the wrench to get a grip on the rod when coupling or uncoupling the auger.
With these couplings and the water sewered tightly together, the auger will stand considerable strain in "backing out" without uncoupling.

"TIMOTHY'S QUEST"
AT UNITED THEATER
Two large audiences applauded "Timothy's Quest" at the United theater yesterday, and it is safe to say that the one rounding performance tonight will be well attended as the result of the generous praise freely voiced by them who have seen this remarkable lttresting and wholesome play.
By way of verse the United Theater has provided an entirely different kind of picture for Saturday evening. It is a story of the underworld written by newpapermen who studied the underworld for years before they thought of writing, men who, as reporters on a daily paper in a big city, specialized in crime investigations for years.
"Broad Daylight" is the unusual name of this absorbing crook play, the story of which is built about the mysterious marriage of a beautiful girl and a drunken young rounder in a thiefy den at the impossible hour of two o'clock in the morning. In an atmosphere of impending danger and ever deepening mystery the strange plot progresses through a series of most amazing incidents and situations, working up to a terrific climax. There is a real kick in "Broad Daylight."
Lols Wilson is the featured player in "Broad Daylight," ably supported by Jack Mulhall and Ralph Lewis.
P. M. of said last named day, why report should not be confirmed and said last named day is the day fixed by the Clerk for that purpose. All objections shall be in writing, and filed with the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim at his office in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California.
Herference is hereby made to said resolution, above referred to which was adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim on the 16th day or August, 1922, and to the report and plat of said commissioners, all of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim. Dated, Anaheim, California, this 28th day of November, 1923.
