FLOOD COMMITTEE WON'T MEET THURS. The Richfield-Anaheim Flood Protection District Committee which has been meeting at the C. of C. each Thursday night wishes to advise its members and other interested that this week's meeting which takes on Thanksgiving Day will not be held. Mr. G. P. Collins, chairman of the executive committee has called the adjourned meeting for Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the usual place. Contract for the levee, 1200 feet, has been completed by Louchau Bros. and that of A. J. Jorgensen for placing piling and wire is completed. The length of this latter work is 1290 feet. All work done so far has been under the supervision of Messrs Arthur Harms and Maxium Smith, members of the executive committee, who report that it has been completed in a splendid manner. The old levee, constructed in 1916, requires heightening two feet to make it of equal height with the new work, which is 6 feet. Brush is being placed between the levee and pools and this part of th work will continue for some days. At Monday's meeting plans will be laid for a continuation of this protection work to go ahead as far as funds available will permit. The amount collected and in late up to date runs over -5000. Several of the districts have not been fully canvassed and new letters are being prepared by the C. of C. which are intended to bring in further money in time for completion of all the work before the food waters of the Santa Ana interfere. Miss Stamps has been a frequent or La Habra for some time, Francis Walker is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Walker of North La Habra Heights. This will be one of the most elaborate church affairs of the season. A delightful song service was given at the Community church Sunday evening. Solos, duets and anthems by the Woman's chorus was the program. Rev. C. A. Smith gave a short talk on the value of music. Mr. Beach of Whittier was one of the solitist, others were Mrs. A. J. Wilson, Miss Ethel Lindsdell, Miss Edith Phillips and George Young. The Red Cross drive has met with considerable success; there will be one more day, Monday. The quota has not been reached as yet but it is hoped that La Habra will have none so by Monday evening. The bazaar given by the Dorcas Society Friday evening and afternoon was a decided success. There was over $200 taken in, for the afternoon's work and the supper in the evening. L. J. Wester is walking around with a much damaged foot. It is supposed by Mr. Wester that the foot became injured some way, and before he thought it was anything serious, infection set in. With prompt medical attention it is thought that nothing more than inconvenience will result. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Wilson, and Mrs. L. J. Wester were in attendance at the initiation of cannades of the Eastern Star Saturday evening. Mrs. Wilson was one of the initiated. Mrs. Kleanor Hagen, community organizer of Americanization at the New Camp, entertained at dinner Sunday. This was in celebration of the duo holidays, our Thanksgiving and the "Dia Gracias" we can people. The dinner table had been made attractive with the work of the local camp woman, and a delicious Spanish dinner was served to Mrs. Hazen's guests, which included Dr. Etta Jeanson, Dr Hannah Beatty, Dr Mary Brown, Dr Cora Jones and Miss Jessie Brown of Los Angeles, and Miss Edith Patto, Supt. of the community hospital, Selita Ana, Miss Carrie Templeman and Miss Hazel Greenleaf nurch from the community hospital. Mrs Hazen has established two day clinics, at which fifty farmers of Orange County have been keeping farm account systems recommended by the farm management department of the college of agriculture. At last year's account schools, held under the auspices of the agricultural extension service and farm bureau, great interest was displayed in the simple methods demonstrated for keeping the cost figures on the various enterprises of the farm. Enterprise cost accounts have been kept by several growers of each county—citrus, production costs, walnuts, apples, sugar beets and poultry. Summary reports will be discussed at a series of meetings to be held January 15th to 20th. R. V. Wright, farm management specialist, will again conduct these meetings and assist growers in analyzing their year's business. The meetings will be held in the form of one-day schools in which one crew will be discussed at each session. All growers are invited to attend. the members of the camp receive medical attention and is organizing a men's clinic for evening classes. Mrs. F. B. Drake is spending a fortnight with Mrs. W. E. Snow and children at Yucalpa. Organizing a card club was the diversion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. McBurney Wednesday evening when a merry party of friends and neighbors were their guests. Five hundred was the game chosen to while away the evening. High score went to Mrs. Omit, and Mr. Howard. No prizes will be given but a tally will be kept for sides and the losers will entertain the winning side after a series of games. Those comprising the club are Mr. and Mrs. L. L. McBurney, Mr. and Mrs: W. A. Bloomer, Mr. and Mrs James Howard, Mr. and Mrs Omit, Mr. and Mrs Kincaid and Mr. and Mrs C. Clista. Most refreshments were served late in the evening. The name of the club will be the south side "500" club. Mrs. C Dayton and daughter Violet have moved to Long Beach where Mrs.Dayton's two daughters and their families live. The Misses Ferguson, who have been living for some months at the Lindauer apartments, left Monday for San Diego, for an indefinite stay. The Jubilee singers are to be at the Fullerton H.S.auditorium tonight under the auspices of the Junior Class. The Fullerton Business Girls' Club held their regular meeting last night at the First Christian Church parlor. Dated, Anaheim, California, this 28th day of November, 1922. GOOD SHOW TURKEY DAY AT CALIFORNIA Thanksgiving, the day of rejoicing, is also the day of recreation and amusement. Following the big turkey spread the members of the family like nothing more than to see a good snow, and with this idea in mind, the California theater management has arranged to bring to Anaheim tomorrow one of the finest vaudeville programs ever witnessed in this city. The outstanding feature of this bill will be the world-famous Douglasse Dancers, consisting of four lovely and beautiful girls, and one man, offering a very clever program of dances, unexcelled. It is a big time act, and was secured only after prolonged exchanges of terms and agreements, which means that this act will cost far above the ordinary vaudville acts. The Imperial Trio, known from one end of the country to the other will also appear upon the same bill. They have a dandy act, and one that is well known everywhere. They come direct from a long engagement over the largest circuits. One of the bright spots of the program will be furnished by Hall & DeLorretta, famous comedians, singers and talkers, de luxe. It is almost a certainty that they will prove a big riot tomorrow. Baker and Baker offer a nifty act entitled "A Melody Cocktail". Nothing stereotyped about this act, and one that all audiences thoroughly enjoy. Charles Leland, known as "the ruble that makes 'em laugh" will be right on deck to prove his title. His droll witticisms will cause prolonged mishap, and a personal triumph for him is assured. A special feature entitled "The Glorious Adventure" will grace the screen. It is a very splendid photodramatic offering. The California will keep open house all day Thanksgiving, and continuous performances will be given at 3, 5, 7 and 9 o'clock. Mrs. T. E. Rowland of Long Bench will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. NOTICE OF PILING OF COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
