FORD L. A. PLANT
BENEFIT TO SOUTH
The Los Angeles plant of the Ford Motor Company isn't a mere assembling plant, as many appear to believe, but a miniature home plant, where even the manufacture of upholstering and bodice now is being carried on, says George Dunton, local Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor.
All of So. Calif. of course benefits from the proximity of the plant.

Michelin Tube Is "Best On The Market"
There is no tube like the Michelin, says James, the Vulcanizer, who carries a considerable variety of tubes of many kinds, as well as tire accessories. It is heavy and durable, it conforms to the casing being made round so as to expand equally in all directions; and the stem does not pull out easily.
It seems like a queer thing to say, but the tube protects the casing only less than the casing does the tube, in James' opinion. A tube which on the contrary either does not inflate a casing properly or, if so, does not keep it so a reasonable time is a liability rather than an asset. James will show you why.
When Nature supplies a man with little experience, she even things up by giving him more experience than he knows what to do with.

FRANKLIN BREAKS
SO. CALIF. RECORD
Skimming along easily, almost noiselessly, a new series 10 Franklin sedan, piloted by L. E. Gundiff of Riverside and carrying, in addition, three observers, broke the long-standing Riverside to Idyllwild record established by a powerful touring car some time ago.
It would not have been unusual for a touring car stripped for action to lower the old record, but when a brand new sedan which turned its thousandth mile on the run, carrying a pilot and three passengers ranging in weight from 133 to 186 pounds, clipped for tenecen minutes off the old mark there was something to shout about.
Primarily, the trip was not made as a speed test. In fact, an excessive amount of speed was not indulged in, though the new Franklin enclosed models are matched in speed by only a very few enclosed jobs of other makes. The object of the demonstration was to show the power, speed and cooling ability of the new Franklin under touring conditions with full load over a route familiar to most

DURANT DURABILITY CAR MAKES RECORD
With the speedometer reading 38,099 miles, the Durant Four durability car passed thru Anaheim Monday evening, the car running perfectly. To date the Durant Four has averaged 21 miles to the gallon of gasoline for the entire trip of practically 25,000 miles. The oil mileage continues to be exceptionally high, the Durant Four using only one gallon of oil on over 1600 miles of travel.
All thru California, the car continues to attract much attention wherever it stops, and the Durant dealers are very much enthused over the showing made by the car on its long trip through four states from the Mexican border to the Canadian line. The Fisk tires are giving fine service.
The Durant Four is now enroute to Phoenix. After being exhibited at the Arizona state fair, the car will return, visiting all Durant dealers enroute between Los Angeles and Oakland going north over the scenic coast route.
MANN'S RENOVATION IS NEARLY FINISHED
Charley Mann, local Dodge distributor, has been giving a demonstration this week on what white paint and a little lumber will do. At comparatively small expense he has transformed his showrooms and offices on South Los Angeles street. The work will be finished probably today or on Monday.
The front, interior including the suite of offices and driveway are being painted, and new office fixtures of a thoroly up-to-date and attractive character have been put in.
Mann's Dodge cars will look handover than ever now and he has the new cars.
motorists in the locality. The fact that the sedan negotiated the 53 and 7-10 miles of highway and mountain grades in 1 hour and 41 minutes, bettering the old mark of 1 hour and 55 minutes, gave great pleasure to the driver, observers and the whole Franklin organization.
BOSCH MAGNETO AS GOOD AS BEST
The three hundred mile national motorcycle championship race held at Wichita, Kansas, a clean sweep victory for Bosch, showed their magneto's quality, says A. Bevillard, the official Bosch dealer in this city.
Ralph Hepburn, veteran racing driver, won this motorcycle classic on an Indian equipped with Bosch sapk plugs and a Bosch magneto. Walter Higley, who won second place with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, had his machine equipped with Bosch Bosch magneto ignition. The magnetos and plugs gave excellent service during the entire race, no ignition trouble being experienced by either rider from start to finish.
The selection of Bosch spark plugs by such a well known rider as Ralph Hepburn shows that racing drivers are learning to depend upon the Bosch plug just as they have depended for years on the Bosch magneto. The excellent service Bosch plugs have given Hepburn led to their selection and will doubtless mean a much wider use of this well known plug by racing drivers everywhere.
The Bosch spark plug is especially well designed and built to meet the unusually severe service required in motorcycle racing. They are put together under hydraulic pressure which insures their being absolutely leak proof. The insulators are built to withstand high electric voltages, being made of "Ambosite," an artificial stone of remarkable insulating qualities. It vastly improves a Ford car.
Owners of cars, trucks and tractors are find the Bosch.
