News of Fullerton FINE MONROVIA MAN ON SPEED CHARGE B. H. Young of Monrovia was fined $10 this morning on the charge of speeding when brot before Judge French. A. Mack, negro, was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail on the charge of having stolen a ride on a train. John Allen, charged with vagrancy was also given a 30-day sentence. It is alleged that he frightened a woman at the Bastanchurry ranch by going in and starting to help himself to coffee. It is said that the woman had already given him something to eat. ASSEMBLY "SING" FINEST THIS YEAR The student body assembly meeting of the Fullerton high school was held this morning at 10:30 o'clock. The total enrollment of the high school is 797, and the Junior College is 160. The oil instruction class numbers 18 and the Smith-Hughes class 16. The enthusiasm is said to have been keen. The school yells were given with fine spirit and pep. The high school assembly "sing" was directed by Mrs. Daniel L. Wright, who is Mr. Walberg's associate in the music department of the high school. Old school songs were sung, and new ones were learned in short order. The assembly "sing" is conceded to have been the finest held in a long time. FULLERTON MEETS HUNTINGTON BEACH The football season opened this afternoon at the Fullerton H. S. grounds when the Fullerton first team met the Huntington Park team in a practice game. The Fullerton line-up was as follows: PRIZES AND CUPS FOR LEGION PARADE A series of handsome cups and prizes donated by merchants throughout Orange-co will be the awards for the best floats, decorated automobiles, marching organizations and clubs who will form the great five mile parade which will be a part of the Orange-co Armistice Day Celebration to be held in Fullerton on Armistice Day, Nov. 11. In addition to the prizes that are being offered by the various posts of the American Legion in the county through the county council of the Legion merchants in Santa Ana, Anaheim, Orange, and Fullerton have signified their intention of making handsome awards for the separate divisions. It is estimated that there will be at least a dozen cups and prizes to be distributed to the winners. In addition to this it is the plan of the Armistice Day Parade Committee of which Frank Benchley is the chairman to have sweepstake prizes to be awarded to the best entries made by both men's and women's organizations. The parade committee is now at work segregating and classifying the various divisions so that there may be and award for each of the competing units. SELECT COLORS FOR CALIFORNIA HOTEL Directors of the Fullerton Community hotel this morning selected the colors of the new California Hotel in Fullerton, it is announced. The body is to be of a warm grey color, with the casings trimmed in darker brown and green. Mrs. Harry Parks of Los Angeles underwent an operation at the Fullerton hospital today. Mr. and Mrs. William Hahn and daughter, Louise, of Calver City spent the day at the home of Mrs. M. E.
