LOYAL ROOTERS TO SEE GAME SUNDAY
ANAHEIM Elk ballplayers are going have a large contingent of loyal supporters with them Sunday when they meet the rest San Pedro Merchants at Maler park. Vernon according to indications today. And the chances are they will need all the support available when they stack up against the harder city nine, despite the fact Anaheim has yet to lose a game on the Vernon diamond.
While the game is intended as a practice affair to point off the locals for their championship battle at Santa Monica at the Elks state convention next Thursday, local fans are anxious to see a victory.
Aside from the fact that San Pedro team has just won the championship of the So. Cal. Baseball Managers Assn., further line on their speed is indicated when it is recalled that the Harbor Merchants held the fast Shell Oil Co. lo a tie recently, the game being called at the 17th inning on account of darkness, all the same as yesterday's world series tussle.
The Shell nine caught the locals off their guard last Sunday and Ford Tally, who has been hammered mercilessly by Anaheim on previous occurrences, obtained sweet revenge. Incidentally, the locals plan a three-game series with the oilmen after state title contest just to show them who's who. However, that's another story to be unfold later.
McClemons, a fast, young right-hander, is scheduled to oppose the locals Sunday. "Pep" Kerwin, young brother of Frank Kerwin, will recoote. San Pedro has available, with other promising talent, Young Crandall, junior brother of Doc Crandall, veteran Coast League twirler.
It was pointed out today that the Anaheim Elks' rooting contingent will want to get in some practice Sunday as well as the pastimers, as a united front is essential state title game at Santa Monica.

DARNLEY OFFERING REAL CARD TONITE
Boxing bugs who are to attend the show, that Manager Billy Darnley is offering tonight at the Athletic club arena on the sugar factory grounda will be treated to the best all-around card that has yet been presented here. Billy has lined up a double main event between four of the best boys of their weight now on the coast.
Joe Chaney, the idol from the town with the Poet's name, is heading the twin bill against a worthy opponent in Young Abe Attel, a fast and clever worker who figures to give our Joe a stiff argument. Chaney has been training diligently for tonight's freaks and is 'rarish' to go. So with both of these boys in prime shape there is bound to be a regular battle.
In the other half of the twin bill, Scott Delist, the lad who gave rough, tough Mike O'Leary the fight of his life he recently, will be pitted against another classy ringman in no less a personage than John Thomas, a hard-hitting, two-fisted scraper, just the kind of fighter that is to Scotty's liking for both lads sure love the rought going.
It is a toss up as to which of these two bouts will share the first honors as the real main event. We all know that Chaney has never disappointed when it comes to putting up a he-man affair and if Scotty's recent seto here with O'Leary can be taken as true example of his real caliber then he and Chaney will be running neck and neck for the coveted position.
Fight fans hereabouts all know how tough and rough Johnny McGraw is once he gets to going and they are going to see Johnny up against a classy customer in Pacy McMullen. It is bound to be some fight as is also the go between Bennie Heller and Art Springer. The latter is making his bow before local patrons of the 'manly art' and they will see a mighty good youngster in this lad. He and Heller promise to be the star bout of the evening. Tex Jones is down for a set-to with a gent from Fullerton, Ped Reber, and it is bound of be a real scrap as far as Tex is concerned anyway for the tall boy from the wilds of Texarkana is out to redeem himself for the crushing defeat that 'Big Chief' Orton handed him here recently.
A couple of heavy socks and willing mixers are Max Ryan and Batling Scotty who halls from the dail, junior brother of Doc Crandall, veteran Coast League twirler.
LACK OF PEP LOSES GAME TO NEIGHBORS
Anaheim football lads went down to defeat last evening at the hands of the Garden Grove "skeeters." The Anaheim lads underated the visitors and did not get into the spirit of the game. They were capable of playing much better ball. The garden Grove pigskin warriors won 3 to 0 with a field throw. The decision should have been awarded the blue and gold team but they forgot they were working for honors and sort of laid down on the job at times. They are good loosers and hope for a better showing of their worth next week when they meet Huntington Beach.
The line-up yesterday was Wolter man and Jabs, ends; Waters and Beebe, tackles; Gregg and Waltom guards; Mathis, Davis and Wilburn backs; Sweeney, quarter. The subs were Cate for Wolterman, Jayne for Sweeney Sloop for Wilburn and Pieper for Mathis.

INDOOR BALL TEAM REPEATS VICTORY
Another victory for the Anaheim Grammar school indoor baseball team. The lads defeated the Tustin grammar school team 36 to 7 yesterday on the local diamond. The visitors were completely outplayed. The locals grabbed 8 hits in the first inning and kept piling them up until the 7th when they brought them in so fast and furious the scorekeeper was kept on the jump. This time they bunched 17 runs. Anaheim isaded the championship, but still was to go up against the strong Santa Ana team.
Coach W. C. Maxwell's fast line-up was as follows: Pomeroy, if; Rockwell, cf.; Ramos, rf; Coffman, 2ff; Mitchell, 1b; Ochoa, p; Gruenemay, e; Giss, 3b; Thomas, ss.
