EVERY MINOR MUST REGISTER, SAYS STATE
That there is a great deal of trouble being experienced in getting people to understand that all children, both in school and out of school, between the ages of three and 18 years must register last year, was the essence of an announcement made this morning by C. A. Marcy, principal of the Fullerton grammar schools, Mr. Marcy said that registration will continue throughout this week, and the work is to continue tomorrow night from 7 until 9 o'clock to give all those who have to work a chance to register their children. Registration will also continue on Saturday, he said. Very few have registered to date.

NOW IN LIMELIGHT
With Oil Operators
At Huntington Beach the Amalgamated Oil Company's Fowler No. 4 is standing in the lime light. This well was brought in a month ago and is making the most wonderful showing of any well in Huntington Beach. Drilled to 4408 Fowler No. 4 came in at 600 barrels. The production started increasing and mounted to 1770 barrels in a week's time. The increase in production is the most phenomenal of any well ever brought by the southern field. Miles-Keck No. 29 is another Amalgamated wonder that is attracting its share of attention. Completed at 4213 this well is producing 1900 barrels.
The Holly Oil Company's No. 3 is bringing a lot of pleasure and satisfaction to its owners. This well at 4317 started out at a 1000 barrels and has increased its production to 1250 barrels. No. 3 is the first real success for the Holly Oil Company at Huntington Beach.
Surprise will no doubt be expressed at the news of the resumption of drilling on the Motor Oil and Refining Company's well located on the south side of the field. This well was started during the boom days, but was suspended when the General Petroleum Community No. 1 quite drilling a dry hole at 4300 feet. Success of the Standard's Surf 2 at 450 barrel at 4430 seems to be the cause of the revival of activity.
The work of the Potter Oil company drilling a wild cat well at Athens on the Hill is being watched closely. Oil experts have "doped" this district for the next field and consequently the progress of the well is of great interest. Drilling has passed the 3400 foot mark and there have been no showings that would either encourage or condemn.
Drilling by the National Security Oil Company a subsidiary of the Beatty Oil company in the Bixby Hills is now at 4275. The brown shale showings are the best that the well is showing.
At Buena Park the Standard Oil company is close to 4700 feet and has found little indications of oil. It is

MOVES ABOUT NOV. 1
The Stroup-Barnes Furniture Co. will have the most beautiful and modern furniture store in Orange-co, when they move into their new quarters in the Arnold Kraemer building on or about Nov. 1. They will have 20,000 square feet of floor space, including first and second floors and a mezzanine floor with an electric passenger elevator. The store has been fitted up especially for the selling of furniture, and the firm will stock it with an assortment of goods in keeping with the quality of the new quarters.
Seven big plate glass windows on the second floor and a 40-foot frontage on the first will enable this pioneer furniture concern of Anaheim to display its goods as never before.
The store also will be wonderfully lighted, with 100 or more floor plugs carrying the current to points where it is needed. Troughs of mirror lights will illuminate the windows.
The floors will be of maple, the walls finely tinted in grey and ivory with South Sea mahogany trim, and modern built in offices will be installed. Much of the store will be carpeted.
In the rear will be a completely fitted workshop and re-finishing department in charge of Hugo Schulz, who has been with the firm in this capacity for the past 10 years.
The Stroup-Barnes Furniture Co. has been in Anaheim since February, 1912 at its present location on North Los Angeles-st. During this period Anaheimers have been given an enviable service and first class goods at the lowest possible prices.

Drilling by the National Security Oil Company a subsidiary of the Beatty Oil company in the Bixby Hills is now at 4275. The brown shale showings are the best that the well is showing.
At Buena Park the Standard Oil company is close to 4700 feet and has found little indications of oil. It is now practically conceded that Buena Park will not get on the oil map of Southern California.
In the Puente Hills the Chino-Corona Oil company failed to get a complete shut off on the water in the combination oil and water string set at 4220 and some re-cementing will be necessary before a true test can be made. The ballings showed gas in quantity.
The Redondo field gave some new production when two of the Chansler-Canfield wells came in. Redondo No.1 at 3186 started off at 200 barrels. Torrance Community No.1 successfully plugged off bottom water at 4382 and started off with an initial production of 225 barrels. While neither of the wells are big it is believed they will increase their production and do better as they clean up and get underway.
The St. Helen's Petroleum San Jose Hills well Garnier No.1 started a little excitement at 2385 when it broke lose with a heavy artesian water flow. Water is flowing from the well in great volume and under high pressure.
With the drilling out of the cement in the Seal Beach Oil Company's No.1 renewed interest is promised in the field. Seal Beach Oil Company No.1 has been standing cemented for a month at 3200 feet. Showings prior to cementing warrant the protection of a run for the investment.

her dance rhythm
She says that she likes to cook because she can hum softly to herself while stirring her concoctions, and thus get the two-fold benefit of wholesome home-cooked food as well as excellent training in perfect rhythm.
In this instance Miss Haig is putting her deft touch to a dish which her friends call CHICKEN A LA HAIG. Here is the recipe, for those who may be tempted to give their palate a treat under the direction of the noted dancer.
"The chicken must first be cut up so that it will fit snugly in the kettle. Instead of putting water in the kettle to prevent the chicken from sticking to the bottom, I use vegetable fat generously, (one of the good things about vegetable fat is that you can use it generously, with good results both to your digestion and your chicken), and roast the chicken just like a pot roast.
"Add salt, pepper, and onions (if you like them) and allow the chicken to roast slowly until it turns a rich brown. The most important part of the dish, to my taste at least, is the chicken gravy. This is prepared by mixing a cup of half milk and half water with a table-spoon of flour. Thorough stirring of the gravy in the kettle, after the chicken is removed, makes a thick tasty gravy. I suppose that I always stir my dishes longer than anyone else would, because I love the rhythmic swing, which I always accompany by the melody of my favorite song."
We thought Americans were not vindictive, but there seems to be general delight in the fact that the former kaiser is to marry a young widow.
