FULLERTON RAISES
$1000 PARADE FUND
Merchants in Fullerton today reached the $1000 mark in their contributions toward the fund for a mammoth celebration Armistice Day, Nov. 11th, when the combined American Legion Posts of Orange-co will gather in that city for a great festival and celebration.
The nucleus of what will be an even larger amount was gathered in Fullerton in one day under the direction of a committee of the Fullerton C. of C. co-operating with veterans of the World War toward making the Armistice Day Celebration the greatest in the history of the county.
The Legion Committee in Fullerton has for headliner, William Gibbs McAdoo, former secretary of treasurer and director of the U. S. railroad administration during the war. There will also be a mammoth parade, five miles in length, containing a series of floats symbolic of the civic, industrial, horticultural, agricultural and educational institutions of the county. This will be augmented by many other floats entered by organization such as Rotary, Kiwanas and many religious and fraternal orders.
It is the plan of the Armistic Day Committee which is composed of Legionairs from all sections of the county to make the annual celebration one of the finest that has been staged in Orange-co and tentative plans that have thus far have been worked out call for a series of events that will last from early in the day until late at night.

LIGHTING CAUSES TERRIFIC BLAST
SPETIA, Italy, Sept. 28.—Approximately 100 persons were killed today when the Falconera fort near here blew up. Lightning hit the powder magazine. The force of the blast wrecked the town of San Terenzo.
Indescribable confusion followed the terrific explosion and there was some delay in estimating the number of dead and injured.
First reports were that 40 lives had been lost, but as gendarmes penetrated the ruined areas the death list quickly mounted to 100.
The wounded were removed to a hospital. Many of the injured were sailors. Two villages were razed. Houses six miles from the scene were destroyed. An estimate this evening put the dead at from 40 to 100, including a marshal of the Italian army and hundreds wounded.

The final test
The real value of a motor lubricant can be determined in only one way—through its use in the engine for which it is intended.
The real value of a motor lubricant can be determined in only one way—through its use in the engine for which it is intended.
Hence this company maintains an engine-testing laboratory, equipped with a Sprague dynamometer, in which Zerolene and other lubricants are constantly being tested under actual operating conditions.
This dynamometer laboratory is in charge of competent trained men, who spend all their time in conducting comparative tests of Zerolene and other lubricants in automobile, airplane, marine, truck and tractor engines.
Correct Lubrication Recommendations
On the results of these tests, supplemented by equally careful tests in the field and on the road, our Board of Lubrication Engineers bases its Chart of Recommendations.
Close attention is given to the design and construction of the engine. It is necessary to know, first, the speed of the bearing surfaces; second, clearance between bearing surfaces; third, temperatures at which bearings operate; fourth, pressures exerted in each bearing; fifth, the means provided for the distribution of the oil to each bearing.
The recommendations embodied in the Zerolene Chart are calculated with the greatest precision, and if Zerolene is used in accordance with them, correct lubrication and maximum fuel mileage are assured.
