Los Angeles St. Phone 155 EVERY-ONE'S COMING TO HOBO'S WEDDING AT THE CALIFORNIA Anaheim will turn out on mass Friday night, it is certain, to witness the marriage of Miss Arlyn Snelling, of this city, to no less a personage than James Gordon, Anaheim's "hobo" songster, now appearing at the California theatre. When the plana of the happy couple, whose courtship had been of the fast and furious kind, were told to Mr. Jack Retlaw, of the West Coast Theatre company, who in a visitor in Anaheim, and to Mr. G. T. Ingram, manager of the popular local theatre, they were much surprised, for hadn't the management picked Gordon up on the streets just a few days ago where he was singing for the little coins contributed by the generous passerby. But, in the contract with him, the management had promised to do anything it could to help him and it was no time to back down. So Mr. Retlaw and Mr. Ingram called upon Anaheim merchants who are all good sports and who offered to contribute an array of wedding gifts which many a society girl would accept with pleasure. The Prince store will furnish the wedding gown, shoes and hat; Arthur Cohen's Jewel Box, the wedding ring; Milady's Beauty and Cornet Shop, the dainty lingerie; and many others have set aside pretty gifts of unlimited variety. But best of all, Judge Cox, the fellow who put Saints Ana on the map, is to perform the ceremony. Mrs Jessie Bennett, cashier of the California theatre, will be bride's maid, and the ceremony will take place in a wonderful setting, illuminated by vari-colored lights. The management finds that no one has come forward with a gift for the groom. Of course, grooms don't count for much, but in this case it's different. The wedding will be a bona fide affair and no doubt the couple will be given an appropriate sendoff. AUTOMOBILE SHOW AT J. E. WALTER'S The newer things in fall fashions are not alone confined to vogues in apparel for lady fair and the sterner sex but the motor world with its shining creations, both fleet and elaborate, command their share of attention. The J. E. Walter Co., local dealers for the Jordan, Cleveland and Chandler, have been fortunate in securing several of the most sensational 1923 models of these linen and in order to acquaint everybody with their design, beauty and excellent mechanical features, are holding an automobile show in their salesroom this week, during which period they will be open evenings. Models displayed in the Jordan are the "Blue Boy" four passenger sport model, "Play Boy", sport roadster, a touring car and a broughtam. A Cleveland coupe and a Chandler dispatch are also on display.
